not in any way pleasant today in Meath, absolutely baltic outside with a windchill that would knife you in two and no sunshine. Fire will definitely be lit in a few hours. Currently 9C but feels more like 2C.

Quite windy today when out for a cycle. The cherry blossom flowers are just starting to fall. Hasn't rained here today and this is great drying weather for the land.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

sun has come out since my last post, while still a chilly day with a biting wind, the warmth from the sun at this time of the year makes a huge difference.

Feels bitterly cold in Arklow with a strong north easterly wind. Plus side is bone dry towels!

Lack of rain in Cork has been very welcomed but yesterday and more so today the wind is unusually strong. Some of the last few evenings have been great for walking outside in.

Pretty pleasant in Tralee today but strong chilling wind. Still have not unpacked my new e bike that arrive two weeks ago as I want to give it a go the minute its charged up but most days have been too windy for cycling. But getting through a whole load of jobs delayed because of the rain. Painting, gardening some diy etc. Grass growth is storming ahead now though and my ride on lawnmower is still in the garage being serviced so I have to use the self drive walk alongs which just takes ages to do a full cut.

Very chilly strong east wind all day in Meath. My wolly hat was back on.

Beautiful pink sky after sunset. I hope Sryan was out with his camera !

Unfortunately I was working. The NW especially got a treat with a fiery one overhead on the edge of the high cloud looking at social media posts. Not a surprise with a setup like this, the holy grail for a colourful sunset sky.

Beautiful photos. What a stunning country we live in. We take it for granted far to much.

Not a cloud in the sky this morning but my goodness that wind cuts to the bone. 4C. Leitrim

It's bright which is nice but it's horrible being outside in that wind

Freezing in that breeze and people going around in summer clothes!

It's nice to have the sun but it's not warm.

@sryanbruen Thanks for warning all of us about that wind!

I suppose there’s no point in saying … ‘if only we had this easterly in winter’ …. because we did this winter and never delivered, sadly it seems the days of snowfall at sea level in Ireland are gone! It will only take something very exceptional like a Dec 2010 Greenland high to get anything wintry in the 21st century.

Anyway, the sparrows in the garden are enjoying themselves having dust baths in places where it was flooded just a few weeks ago, it will be time to get the watering cans out soon.

Clouding over in Cork and rain on the way in the next hour. Wind is absolutely brutal and not at all fun to be out in. 10C in that wind is just awful.

Aside from Sunday/Monday, absolutely no sign of this nice spell in Cork.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,433 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

From tomorrow it should feel less baltic and temperatures around 14 or 15C tomorrow but from Friday onwards mid to high teens can be expected which will make it feel like early Summer as long as there is some sunshine to go with it".

Tonight could be the last uninterrupted night to light the fire since mid September.

I've been very quiet lately so apologies just waiting on a bed in hospital, I'm not in great place unfortunately, it's been dry here in Carrick-on-Shannon the last few days , that wind is knocking the tops of the temperatures, and it's looking rather dry and warming a little the next few days thank God 😊 sorry if this is abit off topic mods

You're posts are always welcome here Dazler97. Cool breeze all right , got up to a pleasant 14.3C here near Tralee and currently 13.6C but would need a jacket. Improving as you say over the coming days, winds were E'ly much of the day but swung around to the W now. Farmers working on the land around here this evening and great to see it, the soil that was ploughed looks well dry now, I think they are sowing the corn in the fields behind me at the moment. Take care.

Nothing to apologise for Dazler, chin up and I hope things work out for yourself. Its fecking baltic out there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,512 ✭✭✭✭Thelonious Monk

can't get over that bitter wind, ugh. looks like friday will be properly nice in dublin, 16c and sunny with lighter winds, that'll do.

Its great to see how the countryside has changed in the last week. The dry spell really has changed things. Lots of cattle and other livestock scattered about the place now. A few calves following mother's around, seen a couple of foals out in the last couple of days too. Fertiliser spreaders and tractor work going on. Ground has dried up considerably. Even clothes hanging out around houses that hasn't been seen in a while.

Chilly breeze today here in north Longford, but lovely sunshine at times. Never got the jacket off, but working was grand. Hopefully higher temperatures for the weekend.

Great to see your post Dazler. Hope all goes well for you. Having the courage to face lives problems says a lot about a person's spirit and being open is a lot better than bottling things up.

Thank you @Meteorite58 😊 yes it is quite cold out there today , more cloud than Sun here but at least it's dry , had the gas on last night I was so cold , spring is still very much here , mind you if it was January we'd be getting some snow and frosts with that easterly , think tomorrow or Friday will be warmer with 19ºc expected here so we shall see
