Callers. Are you all standing by your phones, waiting to take a call?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,472 ✭✭✭Expunge

I don't think the penny is dropping with these callers over 60 years old giving out about R1 is that they're not really wanted anymore.

Nobody in the management set up gives a rats ass about their strong affinity to the old sig tunes.

I heard the preview for yesterday's show, and Sitka Spruce was one of the topics meant to be discussed. Missed the show yesterday and all of today's up until now. Sounds like it's only getting mentioned now.

seems Radio 1 are too scared to use the letters "FM" anymore as a tuning option and use the wholly inaccurate "On-Air" instead.

Did either the Head of Sound or the Head of Radio 1 go "on the air" yesterday?

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

Editor of Radio 1, Mark Simpson (Ex-Newstalk deputy editor)?

RTE Director of Audio, Patricia Monahan (Ex-Newstalk editor)?

Nah. Never go on the Liveline to explain is the cardinal rule. Even for RTE managers.

It seems they have gotten too far ahead of the current Radio 1 audience with some of their recent changes.

We'll know in a few JNLR's time whether they ripped off the band-aid too quickly or not.

The journey into bland(er) mediocrity continues………

I think there is a Head of Radio 1 also. (You can never have too many managers)

I think they are safe with the JNLRs, IMO Claire Byrne and 2FM are going to be in more trouble.

Yes, there is Tara Campbell, Head of Radio 1.

Being a long serving producer and researcher of the old days, one would imagine she is not part of the new Bauer inner sanctum of decision making and is more of a titular head.

I'm surprised she wasn't put forward to defend the changes for that reason.

While I agree with you about Claire Byrne and the awful 2FM, I still think Radio 1 post 12pm will struggle (relative to past surveys) but what do I know? It might just be that enough people leave it tuned to Radio 1 as they have always done.
