3 wins in 9 in all comps for Arsenal

    Losing Final

    Out of FA Cup

    Losses in PL

Scraped into next round of CL

Bad timing for a dip in form

He's okay, I suppose. But player of the season? Behave. Much as I detest Bruno Fernandes, he's so far ahead of Rice in terms of individual performances throughout the season, it's frightening. Utd would be mid table without him. I'm biased (aren't we all?), but I'd have Cherki in second place based on the impact he's had since coming to us. That goal today was just Wow!

Rice is the most overhyped player I've seen in many years.

Very good, but nowhere near what we're told he is.

I don’t like Arteta or the way this Arsenal team go about their football. But we all have to remind ourselves that when another team wins the league instead of the one charged with 115+ breaches, it’s generally a good thing. City aren’t all of a sudden the good guys because Arsenal play boring football and Arteta runs around the place like a manic. It’s bad for the league that City could win another title without possibly being punished properly for all the rule breaking the league itself believes they have engaged in.

Nice goal by Troy Parrott at the end, nice to see him win

The best comparison to him is Jordan Henderson, he's a good solid pro.

If Liverpool can't win the league then I'd much rather Arsenal win it than city.

I do find it bizarre though about Man Utd and Man City. Must be the only football city in the world, that would rather see their City rivals win a league title, than a club from London. You wouldnt see that anywhere else in the world. Be like Spurs fans wanting Arsenal to win it, Everton wanting Liverpool to win it. Atletico Madrid wanting Real Madrid, etc etc.

Bruno Fernandes not getting player of the season would be a bigger upset than Arsenal not winning the league.

That was probably the least surprising result of the season. You don't perform shite for months and then just switch it on at the 11th hour.

I think it pretty clear that Arsenal did not at any point believe that they were going to win that game, and they haven't had belief in winning the title for quite a while now.

Maybe thats just another word for bottle, but champions have to believe they are the biggest dog in the room and Arsenal simply don't. They played today in hope rather than any genuine belief that they would win.

And since a teams self belief comes from the manager, then this collapse comes from the manager and his scared way of playing.

The Milans and Juve although that depends on Juve's level of dominance.

Also I think the hate of Arsenal is very much something related to the demographics on the likes of Boards. I bet younger United fans will grow to hate City more than those who remember Wenger.

As sad as it sounds, City's biggest opponent is now a points deduction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,753 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

United supporter myself and for the good of the game, I'd much prefer Arsenal to win the title over cheats.

I watched the game in the pub today and unfortunately you’re the minority. Not one City fan in sight but the roars for both of their goals were absolutely sickening. I didn’t cheer on Pool for their league wins but I absolutely did not at any point cheer on City either. Pathetic behaviour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,111 ✭✭✭KaiserGunner

Its because no one cares about Man City. Be interesting to see in a decade or so though, when they'll possibly be close to the amount of league titles Man Utd and Liverpool have. But doing it in 20-30 years instead of a whole 100 plus seasons.

Nobody will give a **** about City then either.

3 out of 4 games next for Arsenal are at home

3 out of 4 games next for City are away from home

Next 2 at home for Arsenal

    Next 2 away for City

If Arsenal fail to put Newcastle and Fulham away at home, they don't deserve it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,247 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

I dunno, as an United fan since the 90s, Arsenal will always remain the biggest rivals of the PL era, solely on the Wenger-Fergie battles that just seemed a bit more 'life and death' than the amateur theatrics and Sky bantz of today.

Still hate Wiltord, Overmars, Keown, Vieira, Henry and fookin David Platt to this day.

Its more me wanting to see Arsenal NOT winning than anything else.

Not one city fan, much like the stadium.

No1 gives a shite about city, 115 charges for a reason so people just tend to be whatever, cheat the way to it.

Arsenal fans are a different story though. Not anyone on boards but online media would make you not want them to win it.

Sadly think City have it now, those 2 signings in January have swung it, as an Everton fan whose team been hit twice with points punishments, some teams above it would seam. At this stage I think City will get off, as if it was clearcut it would be out by now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,504 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

It's potentially a goal difference race now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,761 ✭✭✭BenK

It's a seriously bad reflection on the league that the team with 115 charges to their name still hasn't got their case decided and they look good to win another league now. It's pathetic really. Man City are a serious blight on the league (allegedly).

In a busy Premiership weekend, what a good job Perriera is doing at Forest, they really have a strong team, maybe lacking depth, but that first team is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,301 ✭✭✭Garzorico

The mental gymnastics some people will attempt to make themselves feel better about another teams success is comical. All fans hate seeing any other team being successful, goes with the territory, and it’s ok to just dislike something, you don’t need to justify it to yourself.

We’ll see what Arsenal and City are made of in the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 600 ✭✭✭cgorzy

I think Forest, finally, got a manager who suits the squad and has backed their team to try and play some football, he is exactly what they were looking for when they got rid of Nuno only to make 2 terrible appointments. Keep winning in Europe and stay up and it could be the best season Forest have had since the 80’s.

City will only be at this level as long as they are backed by UAE, should their interest drop off or slow down they will fall off

Remember what the City project is actually about, It's a sports washing project. That has a shelf life, as soon as it is no longer useful to the state it has no purpose to them anymore.

So it's a fairly big statement to make to think they will still be winning titles in 20-30 years. I think the chances of that are fairly small to be honest, for that to happen they would have been propping them up for 50 years! That's a lot of time for nothing to change.

I think there's as much chance City are in real trouble in 20/30 years time. What the UAE have done at the club cannot be supported without them or another investor who is willing to pick up the slack… and it is A LOT of slack.

Simply put the club cannot compete with the real big clubs without the money that comes in from UAE and that isn't going to change. City are bigger now than they were before no doubt about it but they are still lightyears away from the really big clubs support wise.

It is foolish at any level to put all your eggs in one basket financially, City are completely and utterly reliant on one basket.

Could get worse tomorrow evening with a West Ham win.
