There’s genuinely no way Joey can still be in charge next week.

I think pressure is gonna mount. I mean the team goes from dogshit to Brazil 70 to dogshit and everytime we claw our way back into a game we lose. I don’t know what’s worse.

I’ve also noticed at HT players going in with heads down, even when drawing 0-0 at home to bohs. They are lacking confidence big time. Some of the football , back to defence and around to other side of pitch is painful , slow and creates f**k all.

I just can’t believe we are seeing the best of this squad.

I’m worried for us in the future if he’s still there next week. There is ample evidence that he has no idea what to do next, evidenced by the fact that we change shape and personnel at HT in basically every game.

We fairly battered Rovers goal in the 2nd half and probably edged it overall, but how much of that was down to their early goal which allowed them to sit back and counter I don't know.

We started to get into the game just before their penalty which, don't take my word for it, have a look at the video but everyone here has been at matches reffed by Rob Hennessy.

Ball just somehow stayed out of the net the rest of the game.

I was way down the far end, and it looked a clean challenge from where I was, but was Bohs penalty the right call?

Ref deemed to give everything to Bohs in the second half, including letting them take a quick free that went straight to a Rovers player again.

If he goes, who do you get?

The return of the prodigal son?

That’s who I want. If not, I’d hope the club has some good intel from outside the league in terms of picking someone up. If it has to be from inside the league (which is a difficult enough conversation because those managers have jobs and may prefer to stay in those jobs), I’d probably take Kilduff ahead of Russell, and I don’t want Doherty back.

But Joey is not good and we need to change it.

How has that Portuguese forward done for Shels so far? Thought it was a gamble given what I seen from Pedro Martelo who came to Sligo from the same level in Portugal

Not too sure how bohs got nothing out of that game. Ive only watched two rovers games this season but they've flattered to deceive in both (I know they were down players). Is that ominous for the rest of the league or not?

Looks ominous that they haven't impressed and are still top. Seems to be a definite top and bottom half already. 6 poits between bohs in 4th on 20 points down to Derry in 5th on 14 points.

Just from highlights dundalk seem to be playing the best football in the league. Amazing how they've adjusted. Look very dangerous going forward, especially horgan and Kenny.

Enjoyable game in Tallaght and a good atmosphere brought by both sets of fans. Don't think we played at our best but we looked up for the fight at least which has not always been the case when we've played Bohs, the early goal and two goal lead at half time meant we could cling onto it a bit more than we usually do. Missing Matt Healy also probably meant we struggled to keep possession a bit as the match got cagier. Don't think our subs influenced the game too well either. Two extremely soft penalties given and a poor game from the officials. But top of the league now and we are still to get into fourth or fifth gear.

For those that haven't seen it much of the first half hour of Virgin Media's match coverage last night was basically an interview with Duff. Shels fans might find his comments on O'Brien and the current situation at the club interesting.

For those without the time or inclination to watch back what's the TLDR of the comments.

Ok, it went on for about 20 mins but Joey is a great guy, Shels have the best coach in the league (not sure if that meant Joey or some other coach?), should be challenging for the League, players need to look at themselves. I'm probably missing some points but on his own situation, he felt he made the right decision to leave, thought the reviled figure he had become was not his true self and didn't like that. On a return to management he was a bit evasive saying he's enjoying his time off, has turned down offers etc. but there will come a time when he will want to to more than he's doing now.

Ye should have won that game only for the brutal shooting.

From the sounds of it Duff wouldn’t take the Shels job from O’Brien so can rule him out I would say.

The only LOI job I could see Duff taking would be Rovers and that vacancy won't be appearing anytime soon

Duff is not going to be going back to Shels especially with the trouble we are currently in that would be walking straight back into the fire, he gave some personal insight into his Shels departure on Virgin Media but many Shels fans like myself suspect there was more issues behind the scenes

It was a good interview and he seems very close to Brian Kerr.

    Stephen Kenny should be wary!!

Victor Ozhianvuna showed some lovely skill at times last night.

I'm delighted with Kilduff. Got us straight back up and we're 3rd now. Playing lovely football with quick passes and great runs by the players. A joy to watch this season and goals from everywhere. Galway were good in the second half and have some lovely players, big tall lads too. I thought they might sneak a winner and then sit back and we needed to score first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,175 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Ya we were on top in the second half for a while but didn't do enough to make it count. Horgan and a great game and largely he was the difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,357 ✭✭✭✭CSF

This is one of my biggest problems with us. We’re not just terrible in terms of results, the football we play is like throwing acid in your eyes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭trashcan

Im not sure how much sway Brian has at Pats these days. And second in the league has relieved a lot of the perceived pressure that Stephen Kenny was under I would say, though of course that can change. Would I want Duff if Kenny was to go ? Not sure. He doesn't seem the type for the long haul.

Good solid win for us on Friday night, but I was a bit disappointed against Rovers the previous week. They weren't brilliant, but kept us at arms length for most of the game I would say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Yet again an opposition player is left totally unmarked from a set piece, no Shels player within 10 yards of him. So easy to score against at the moment.

Gary O’Neill will be on Oliver Callan on RTE radio 1 this morning.

Both penalties were soft and the Rovers one more so. Draw would have been a fair enough result given the missed chances but we were due a bit of luck in these games.

Bohs played well second half and are in the top half of the split in the table but it's also no wins in six...so what is the vibe...
