I've had a few interactions with customer service (just queries etc) but I've found it refreshing to chat to a human and get answers. Revolut annoys me in that it's hard to get hold of a person.

Once you have the plastic card all will be fine and you get full access.

I had the same, the card came within a few days and once scanned I had full access.

Seemingly some of us get that extra security step.

It's a minor thing, but for a bank that says they build it up from the ground I find it annoying.

The help pages say that direct debits are processed at 0800 in the morning (great, means notifications arrive at a reasonable time) yet they process them around 0200 am just like any other bank these days.

The card oddly hasn't arrived, I am going to give until tomorrow with the extra bank holiday this week. Only option is to order a new one.

No way to contact support as the app is locked to the activate the card screen.

I've found the chat help really good and appears very human.

Just noticed this myself this afternoon when sending money to my Monzo IBAN from Revolut, it said it’ll arrive tomorrow and it’s still “leaving for recipient’s bank” and I have a cancel button available.

Anyone know why this isn’t SEPA instant or why Revolut seem to be holding this payment for a day?

The direct debits system is nice, says bring taken in 3 days but doesn't take anything from balance. Handy as sometimes you forget a large sum is coming out eg gas or electricity.

Can you assign direct debits to pots? It’s something I only started using with Revolut recently, when we’re both paid I move the mortgage and other bills to their own pockets and set the direct debits to pull from there.

Unfortunately, that feature is not available for pods at the moment.

You can only link a debit card against a pod, not an account direct debit.

Just looking at the plans on the UK monzo, the plans seems quite good in terms of benefits, such as an annual train card, uber one. 3.25% saving account.

Be interested in monzo when they offer plans similar in Ireland

Wages: Mine arrived at 9am. PTSB would arrive at midnight the night before.

Very happy here too, find it pretty much flawless - using day to day now and have all but ditched Revolut - Monzo is so much cleaner and not riddled with ads and upsells

I've moved all my banking over to them, closing my ptsb next week. Have local cu shares for cash and cheques.

    Now open to everyone.

After full usage for 2 months, it's going well.

My only issue is that I get a notification for every payment which I like except I don't like my pay coming up as a payment. Small gripe.

My big issue is pay credited at 9am rather than midnight the night before. Not a deal breaker.

Considering opening a Monzo account. I've been with AIB for 20 years. I just get paid in save for my house deposit in AIB. Once thats bought, I won't have large sums of cash anymore so the risk reduces. I'm thinking a Monzo / Revolut combination works fine and I can save on AIB fees once I buy the house.

There's not a lot of difference. The reason I went for monzo is

    a) they just do banking and savings so app is cleaner

    b) Irish bank licence (biggest reason over Revolut)

    C) their CS is good. Whereas there's a lot of scare stories with Revolut re getting support if needed. (Other big plus over any bank bar credit unions)

I've just had a quick look at their website, regarding joint accounts. It says both persons need a Monzo account. Has anyone been through the process? Does it mean you need to maintain 3 accounts between you in total?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,050 ✭✭✭✭Mimikyu

Yeah it’s like Revolut in that regard, you both need your own personal account and then the joint account. You can just ignore the personal account though. I think my wife said she has a couple of Euro in her Revolut one because everything goes through the joint so it might as well not exist for her.

I’d be the same I use the joint account for 99% of stuff but the personal comes in handy for buying presents or whatever if you want to keep it a surprise.

    Thanks for that

opened an account with Monzo this week, app seems pretty nice, just noticed you can link PTSB/AIB/Revolut accounts to the account, see live balances and statements etc, looks pretty slick tbf. Early days but I’m impressed by what I’ve seen so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,334 ✭✭✭masterboy123

Great to hear your feedback. Is there any account maintenance fees if I just open a normal account, just to test out the interface?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,215 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

Nope, free. No fees except taking more than 300 out from ATM in a month. Even foreign exchange has no fees and gives MasterCard rate.

You link any account with an iban but to be fair, it's same with aib, tsb, CUs. It's more difficult to find in Revolut app.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,776 ✭✭✭Sono

I’ve not seen any fees to have a basic account. There are charges if you go over the withdrawal limit of €300 per month, others might confirm other charges?

I see they have account linking active where you can see your balances and transactions in AIB, TSB and Rev accounts. AIB worked easily, couldn't get Rev to work. Handy to see balances in the one app.
