does any one know if there has been any more offers for starting in May? Would they still offer so close to the start date?

Was no order or merit in the Feb 2025 competition. Vetting form in since August, had my station interview late last year, and all of my references have been contacted at the start of this year, still no word

As far as I'm aware they continue to send offers right up until and including the Friday before the start date.

Emailed today looking for an update on my vetting. Now outstanding 16months.. got the normal reply back blah blah blah within 2minutes.... It's well known they didn't even check... Asked about the may intake being full didn't even get an answer

same here mate. just backwards here. the english police only looks for maximum 10 years of history and doesn't take quarter of the time.

I replied back just asking if the may intake was full, they sent the same reply, didn't answer the question at all. Like I'd question is it just automatic replay at this stage!

anyone with family members abroad how long did your vetting take.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭Mike277

what I am not expecting or did expect was the vetting take more than a year to come back and still hasn’t. They don’t seem to be too desperate for new recruits.

Why do some get conditional offers & others don't?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 Lea_jane_00

so i queried this with them and also justice minister. My understanding is that they introduced conditional offers for applicants of 2025 competition. Only those applicants have been given the choice I’m told. Now, anyone in any other year of application can’t get a conditional offer I’m told. As they’ve seen issues with conditional offers like people going out on phase 2 unvetted, I don’t think they are giving them out anymore!

Hey wondering is it worth buying the garda stage 1 course?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 Conn007

    not needed.

Ive never broken the law once apart from one traffic offence for being on the phone at a red light. Never done anything wrong, no one in the family has ever done anything wrong. Still waiting on vetting for 12 months. I cannot understand this whatsoever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭MrJonsb25

Is that 18 months from first applying or since let's say the station interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭Edsjd227

Ya I applied in Feb 25 and completed a station interview in Jan. So just playing the waiting game now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11 johnooh

I applied jan 24, vetting was sent in start of December 24, they looked for further information around the 11th of December. Sent that in.Radio silence since.I did the station interview with inspector only around October 25, he said everything was grand and was happy enough. It's the most soul crushing procedure. Waiting every 3months I'm self employed so I Can't take on new contracts for work or anything as there 12month contracts. You ask for an update and just get the same response "outstanding, not our department"

This isn't true. I was Jan 2024 campaign and received conditional offer.

May intake is not full yet and the next intake after that should be the end of July.

Im a builder myself and I definitely would not be putting off new jobs or long term work due to this. If I was in your case even if I got an offer I would just defer it and they would happily put in the next campaign because they already made their mind up about you if they sent you an offer.

I often wonder why it is so hard to get into the AGS, fair enough it’s the national police but there’s a lot of horsing around with the recruitment for a job that doesn’t even pay that well, dealing with high amounts of stress a lot of it spills over to outside work and having to relocate halfway across the country if you live in the Southwest of Ireland like myself. Im single at the minute so the relocation doesn’t bother me but I will be leaving a decent paying job for this and paid over 4k in lorry licences and tickets to operate heavy machinery that I will never use again. I apologise for being negative but someone has to address the elephant in the room, the recruitment is shocking.

About the same here......met a garda I know who said it's taking too long to clear the competitions before 2025
