So anybody going then? I have already booked the ferries. Really cumbersome to get there though - Dublin > Holyhead > Haysham > Douglas and the same sequence in reverse on the way back. I am trailering over my Ducati Monster in the land rover. Hopefully the weather will play along and no cancelled races this year.

Not this year, it's something that should be experienced at least once in your lifetime if you have even a passing interest in bikes. I have been going regularly since 2000, but found the last few years really expensive to get the ferry over (and the bad choices for times, usually sail home at 2am to Belfast as no other options) and particularly accommodation. The racing is unbelievable though, as is the bike friendly atmosphere

Roof bars and roof box for my TT trip in the defender have arrived in Johnston & Perrott just need to be collected. Any protest blockages getting into Cork City?

Ugh. Reminiscent of those who show up in the south of France with a Hardly stuck on a shelf on the back of their RV, blissfully unaware they were missing the fcuking entire point

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

Well I think for safety reasons I am a bit old now to be doing very long bike trips in all weathers. I could of course - being fairly fit and mobile for my age (67) but when I have a jeep and bike trailer why risk it. Anyway I don't want to be ruining my bikes sticking panniers etc onto the back and then having to worry about stuff being stolen off it every place I stop.

The Ducati Monster is booked in for service next week as that's the bike I will be taking.

Don't think we will sidecars on the roads again.

Sidecar class suspended for the remainder of 2026 TT - Manx Radio

Hearing Channing Tatum is also filming a movie on the TT and has been seen for a years being an common visitor.

Is there any word on what the reason for this suspension? Has there been some changes to the side car spec's which is making them more likely to get airborn? I can't see why this would be an issue this year, but not in previous years.

Could be the thin edge of the wedge for road racing.

Does anybody know what happened in the incident that gave rise to this. Was not a big fan of sidecar racing anyway but it would be interesting to hear.

Saw the crowe brothers crash, at agos leap iirc. They were seriously lucky to get away with a few broken bones between them. Unless they put ballast or something in them to keep the nose down they are too dangerous at present.

He's a fan of it anyway as is Keanu Reeves and Brad Pitt. There's a good few clips of him on the bikes around the paddock and all that on Tiktok and instagram etc

Not sure what incident happened to the leadup for the sidecars being removed but the amount of people giving out on other social media platforms that this is ruining the sport and stuff like that the people who want road racing banned will be thrilled need to take into consideration that these decisions aren't just made for fun. Serious thinking and planning has to go into it and if this is the decision that they have came to, there has to be a serious reason for it.

Maria Costellos sidecar crashed the other night also on a fast straight. There was a disastrous year a few years ago when 4 were killed off sidecars. Better to knock it on the head n see can it be resolved in the winter. I know the prep is off the wall for the TT but needs must.

Well safety comes first whether people like that or not.

Put the Evotech frame sliders and front wheel slider bobbins on my Monster today ahead of its upcoming Isle of Man trip. They are a quality but expensive product though. They were out of stock for the rear wheel bobbins so have to get them later. They look as if they might be somewhat effective and most off all look unobtrusive but my main reason for putting them on was to get a secure tie down point near the front of the bike for the bike trailer. I had been using the handlebars previously as there was nothing else and I am not a fan of putting stress on the handlebars by putting ratchet straps on them

Well here we go we are off. A bit late to the party but I will take it. Kerry > Dublin would have been a pretty nasty wet humid bike ride if I had not brought the trailer. Lets hope IOM will be better.

Well everything is going according to plan except for one small detail. There is no racing going on..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,636 ✭✭✭GavPJ

We'll be very lucky if anything happens at all.

Weather not looking great at all. Doesn't look promising at all.

Surely they could have brought some of the racing forward to last weekend when weather was decent or was that interfering with Hollywood film sh#te.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 304 ✭✭Alfaguy

Yes - weather is always a gamble with any holiday but its a pity. Loads of people packing up and leaving my campsite.

Jeep, trailer and monster behaved fantastic and campsite is great too. Just virtual non stop rain.

Can't see any racing happening at all either.

Not as straightforward as just bringing it forward a week. They could have rearranged it for a week earlier and it pissed down. No guarantee of good weather either way

Wind is a bit of a problem too now. Ground has gone so soft that the securing pegs are just being ripped up and some tents - especially the bigger ones are getting a bit of a bashing.

Glenlough - very convenient to pop in and out of Douglas. Although the Union Mills road that its on will be closed if any racing does go ahead.

Red flag , sod it anyway - Harrison was flying. Rider who crashed is talking n conscious thankfully.

2 dominant wins for Dunlop today. Wonder will they re run it tomorrow.

Heavy rain expected overnight so I think TT 2026 is already over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 304 ✭✭Alfaguy

Just drove over the mountain road. Still heavy drizzling up there. Not a hope thats drying out today. Next official TT update due at 12 noon not very hopeful we will have any racing today.
