if the government/gaurds go too hard on the protestors there will be nothing delivered in the country - they have huge public support far more than is being acknowledged on here - the optics are very important - the government havent even met with the protestors - they are off on holidays, at the races, down at weddings in west cork - their first inclination was to call for the army instead of addressing genuine grievances - the numbers of protestors could swell this weekend depending on the weather people are pissed at how poorly the government are managing the country and we have no genuine proper opposition so there is a massive void

Some men. couldn't even take a few weeks of hardship and they pull of a stunt like that, nearly shutting down a whole Country. My God.

I hope a mandatory 20yr jail sentence is awaiting anyone else who ever does such a disgusting, horrible, treasonous blockade like this again.

how they were ever even allowed to do it for one day, never mind 3/4/5…..

    Sunshine protestors then?

The water cannon will make sure the weather is bad.

You think the ARU will stand back and let your hard men friends beat gardai to a pulp?

Tomorrow has to be the day. Whitegate first and then we will see what sort of stomach the rest of the scum have for a fight.

No state can accept total challenges to its powers. Its funny but many of thevmain actors may get away scot free.

Not since the foundations of the state have we faced such a challenge to our democratic institutions. On this occasion there is not an entity physically seizing control with weapons of strategic infrastructure and other facilities

Have a serious tbink about what is happening.

A horrible, disgusting, treasonous, low blow on our Country. something only an enemy intent on destroying a Country would do. I hope they are all dragged from the gates of our fuel depots.

And a 20yr mandatory jail sentence should await anyone who attempts such an act in the future.

Well lah-di-dah but most public servants in Ireland don't earn that much when they're working, never mind in retirement. You're in the 1%. Well done. We get it. 🙄

Don't forget the bad weather means there won't be a lot of farming done so excuse the pun but it could be the perfect storm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,467 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

You think the ARU are going to start gunning down farmer's and potentially have a nut job in a tractor come at them? As much as boards tries to portray them differently most of the protesters are hard working men. Not the most attractive target for the ARU, Army or POU. They probably signed up expecting to be beating scrotes not this.

All will probably be revealed tomorrow. Another poster said early tomorrow. Give them time for the rest of the weekend to get the fuel moving for next week.

Are there murmurs of farmers getting together up the north on Tuesday?

Upright creatures with two bendy, bony legs evolved from neanderthals to human beings, but now we have another species emerging through the miracle of evolution.

    Facebook people.

Facebook people are more similar to neanderthals than to humans. They look down, down, always down, down into their mobile smartphones, which are smarter than they are, much smarter.

Facebook people seek out dumb Facebook groups in the way koalas seek out eucalyptus leaves to eat or cows seek out grass to eat or dogs seek out lamposts to (attempt to) pee against. Facebook people need dumb information like humans need oxygen. I suppose you could say it is their oxygen, especially since their primitive smooth brains find it difficult to get actual oxygen.

Facebook people love slogans. They love saying "but people are on their knees". "People are on their knees, sometimes abbreviated to "ppl r on der kneez" is like the Hail Mary of Facebook people. It's the new "U OK hun?" Hail Mary, ppl r on der kneez. It's like mass.

"There's unbelievable anger out there" (Ders unbaleevible anger out der) is a slogan beloved of angry male Facebook people. The Our Father, if you like. Don't know what the Glory Be would be. Probably some shite about immigrants. NGOs. IPAS. Da woke mind virus!

Facebook people hate facts and hate context, because that risks that they might have to think, which could cause them to shrivel and die, like a bird which has ingested rat poison. Survival instinct kicks in. So they avoid thinking like normal humans might avoid walking in front of a speeding bus.

You shall be able to identify a Facebook person only if you have a human brain. A human being knows it is a human being, a cat knows it’s a cat, a shark probably knows it’s a shark, a fly seems to know it’s a fly, but Facebook people are not aware they are Facebook people. They do naturally gravitate towards other Facebook people, but at no stage are they aware they are Facebook people.

Facebook people think they are human beings, in the same way completely fictional American children think they are cats, but they are not.

Conversely, some real humans, many real humans, use Facebook, but they are not Facebook people.

The problem comes with the interface between Facebook people and actual people. Trouble is inevitable, like the interfaces between Catholic and Protestant areas in Belfast. But there’s no peace line in this case.

Us humans are the Catholics. Though you can have Protestant Catholics too, in the same way you can have Catholic Muslims and Protestant Muslims and Catholic Jews and Protestant Jews.

Facebook people mentally proceed like fellas in union jack shorts with sunburnt faces and torsos and an orange Rangers away jersey rolled up in their hands, who are getting water cannoned by the PSNI as they dance on top of an abandoned car near an interface on July 13th, as a heavily overproduced and objectively terrible trance track with sound very similar to a cat screaming plays very loudly from somewhere.

Us humans do not know what to do about da Facebook ppl. But they are spreading, like zombies, and they shall devour us all, and this fuel protest fookwlttery proves it.

These people have always walked among us. Facebook - especially in its death throes - has made them more visible. It's given them a confidence that they wouldn't previously have had. Surrounded by other thick people, there's nobody to tell them that they're thick. They're empowered. They used to get their news from RTE, but now they've been told (by other thick people on Facebook) that RTE is bad and that Facebook is where they should be getting their news from.

It is no coincidence that if you drew a Venn diagram, illustrating people who hate asylum seekers and people who unquestioningly support the fuel protests, you'd have a perfect circle.

You are on an adult forum now.

it's quite hard for most men people in general to throw a thump. anyone throwing thumps or kicks at Gardai will be minimal if at all. They will certainly be dealt with swiftly.

    like what are you saying?

if they don't back away peacefully when told to do so… YES TOLD. then i hope they are dragged away from our fuel depots. and in future if anyone tries to attack and destroy our Country with blockades like that again…then a 20yr mandatory jail sentence should be their faith.

Most of the country will survive just fine without tipper lorries and agri contractors running for a few weeks

    Wronthink, comrade.

You will present yourself at the nearest re-education centre. Once SF get in.

They really hate it when you point out their hypocrisy between north and south. You get called being of a "Partitionist Mindset" and shît like that.

Every Irish citizen is entitled to their view on this situation, tbh from people I speak to day to day be it in work, friends or family the majority are very supportive of this protest including myself. I think we're all frustrated, some more-so than others depending on circumstances.

It's a lot of factors that have led to this….the condescending manner of govt responses, the "get back in your box" attitude, the realisation of how controlled we are by the EU…on top of general dissatisfaction with the govt since their re-election (no housing progress, dare to mention more delays in the childrens hospital, immigration etc etc etc)

Even if an agreed outcome comes tomorrow, there'll be a lot of f**k you to the system groups who wont give up so easily. It's a peaceful protest but I dont see it ending that way

and majority are locked into fixed contracts.

Well that's really not very clever, is it.

It was kinda funny watching the clip of them coming out of the depot on Thursday's Prime Time… last tractor unit had an illegal number plate, followed by an agri tractor with no number plate at all. Green diesel too no doubt. No regard for the law whatsoever but have the hand out.

Make no mistake, when this is all over every single one of these cûnts within the M50 isn't getting out without being dipped. Expensive lesson for many.

Will it though? If a large percentage of the country's truck drivers decided to strike for a week I would think its actually a more dangerous situation for the public than it is now. No oil delivery's and no food delivery's the whole country would grind to a halt again without any blockades and a situation where the government is more powerless to deal with them than they are currently. Micheal Martin has handled this very badly.

Get out of here with this utter nonsense

The vast, vast majority of hauliers are out there working. They can't afford to be taking a week off like these chancers who think the world owes them a living

You are an adult and you think anyone will even consider 20 years for a blockade. Sure if they harm a Garda with a tractor they'll get years but let's not delude ourselves here. My gut tells me there will be a load of shouting, jostling and fist raising before half of them are dragged off but you just never know.

They should respond using the term "off" alright.

but that’s not happening because the hauliers running well run businesses are all still working because they are tax compliant and in receipt of fuel subsidies from the Government.

You can’t get them if you haven’t paid your taxes. A lot of the protestors in tipper trucks and rigids are I’d wager not very good at what they do.

A lot of the agri contractors are the same and if this was in another 6 weeks wouldn’t be there because they’d be too busy. See they’ll only put themselves out when it suits them.

Good luck handling themselves against a water cannon. You can't fight velocity no matter how hard your 'mates not mates' think they are.
