Thankfully we can rely on the Brits to safeguard our own waters too.

    Now do Orwell Rd.

Speaking of which Bulgarian authorities have been completely silent about the secret Wagner base uncovered there. The EU should be applying pressire on the issue

And during that time they invested in 2 aircraft carriers that rarely sail, armies need some Ukrainian frugality, can pack a punch and are automous.

Expensive weapons are to vulnerable but the UK need frigates and subs today.

Can someone enlighten me as to what's going on regarding Ukraine. The intensity of the attacks from both sides has greatly diminished. Something afoot?????????

I think its partly down to Iran simply taking all the headlines.

Also, virtually equal strength of the two sides in the drone stakes.

And drones rendering traditional infantry assaults almost redundant.

There's definitely a lot happening, just that we're not hearing about it as much over here and Russia seems limited in its options now. I sense that Ukraine is also holding back a lot of material so that they can see what Russia's next move is and then respond accordingly. No point them going willy nilly for a counteroffensive with no real goal (being realistic, they're not pushing Putin out through force alone).

Ukraine really needs to be on alert this weekend

Russia usually "celebrate" these types of festivals with missiles and war crimes.

Ukraine have a 1.3:1 advantage in drones apparently. The killzone is expanded far beyond the frontline, so much so that Russians are being hit before they can reach it.

Ukraine will press when they see an opportunity but otherwise don't engage in reckless assaults. You could say quieter on the front but not so quiet elsewhere -

Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on April 9 that Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces perform over 11,000 combat missions per day and struck over 150,000 verified targets in March 2026 alone — up 50 percent from February 2026.[3] Syrskyi stated that Ukrainian forces conducted over 350 mid-range strikes, including against 143 Russian logistics facilities and warehouses, 52 command posts, and 20 oil and energy infrastructure facilities.

His support has been the death knell for several politicians in the past, let's hope it continues.

It's the reverse midas touch. :D Everything these degenerates touch turn to shít. I am really hoping for a Tisza Supermajority Victory on Sunday. If it happens they'll be able to reverse a shitton of Orbans Damage and likely that Fat Vatnik Toad will run off to his orange bollocks of a friend in the US or to Vatnikstan which wouldn't be a surprise as the country is the epitome of corrupt useful idiots.

If he moves after losing it will be to Russia, trump doesn't like losers. He's no longer useful to him once he's out of power.

Considering Putins Penchant for taking in fallen dictators and corrupt useful idiots it would be par for the course and all.

Reports Russian Defence Minister has told Putin Russia is losing the drone war. But Russia has also unveiled the new Geran 5 drone.

Reports from Ukraine says US navy entered the Black Sea recently.

Recently, a ten-meter-long US made unmanned sea drone carrying explosives was found drifting off the Turkish coast after apparently losing control. The vessel was an unmanned surface vehicle produced by Sierra Nevada Corporation. Local media reports suggest it may have been involved in Ukrainian testing operations targeting Russian vessels. It was designed for long-range autonomous missions and is capable of conducting reconnaissance, surveillance, electronic warfare, and strike missions with its payload of up to three hundred kilograms. This drone can help Ukraine find targets in the open sea, jam Russian drones, and strike naval vessels. Its appearance comes amid an increase in attacks on Russian naval assets, causing speculation that the US is testing its maritime drones with the help of Ukraine to receive real battlefield experience.

Over the past month, Ukrainian strikes in the Black Sea region have followed a clear pattern, systematically targeting Russia’s maritime logistics, energy exports, and military support infrastructure.
Notably, a cargo ship transporting Ukrainian wheat sank in the Sea of Azov after it was hit, while in Taganrog, a foreign-flagged dry cargo vessel was damaged. Additionally, a sanctioned Russian shadow fleet tanker was struck by a drone near the Bosphorus while carrying approximately one hundred and forty thousand tons of oil. These strikes reduce Russia’s export revenue, directly putting pressure on its finances. Near Crimea, Ukrainian naval drone operators destroyed a Russian boat, transporting reinforcements and supplies to reduce Russia’s manpower. Additionally, Russian forces stationed on a drilling platform were targeted by kamikaze drones. The platform was used as an observation and electronic warfare site equipped with UAV repeaters, radar, and air defense systems. This strike aimed to make holes in Russia’s air defence and reduce the range of its drones in the area. Taken together, the pattern indicates a coordinated campaign aimed at constraining Russia’s economic lifelines and eroding its military effectiveness across the Black Sea, rather than a series of isolated incidents.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that after 16:00, 469 cases of ceasefire violations by the Russians were recorded.

Quote: "After 16:00, 469 ceasefire violations were recorded. Namely: 22 enemy assault actions, 153 shelling, 19 strikes by kamikaze drones (Lancet, Molniya) and 275 strikes by fpv drones."

    Orcs will be Orcs.

Easy money for Putin and gives his oligarchs access to overseas assets that they would normally find difficult.

With Orban out…the Kremlin loses a potential vector of support in their war. Good riddance.

Tbf this is probably a good thing. Election today so we'll see but people don't like foreign politicians telling them how to vote.

One less impediment to the EU acting against Russia removed.

    Victory!!!!!!

This is potentially huge for Ukraine. Fico a lone wolf now and I'm pretty sure the Slovakian economy is a lot smaller then Hungaries so I know which of the two I'd like back on side.

The EU were probably right to play the long game here. We all wanted them chucked out for shilling for Russia but an EU Hungary back onside is better than a Hungary out of the EU.

It's also a victory for democracy. We feared Russia and Orban would rig the election as Putin is losing a lifeline here. But they didn't and democracy has prevailed demonstrating as **** as Orban's regime was it was still operating a democracy unlike his pal in Moscow.

Agree, and that was a point I’ve tried to make a few times over the past number of months. The strength of the EU is the fundamental principle of open, transparent democracy. That doesn’t lean towards knee-jerk reactions like turfing member states out just because the current leadership are trying to sabotage things.

I think they do need to carefully consider how to deal with similar situations in the the future, because they will arise again.

But, just as Hungary is a great nation, with a great history, so too is the US. The EU is dealing with Trump in a very similar fashion - placing him on mute, not taking the bait, and operating on the basis that for the next few years the US can’t be relied upon. But TACO too will disappear into the sunset very soon. The key in the meantime is to minimise the damage he causes and to strategically manoeuvre so that we are better positioned after he leaves than we were when he came into office. It’s the US that he is ultimately causing the most harm to.

Hopefully Zelenskyy reaches out to the new administration in Budapest and looks to offer olive branches in terms of the ethnic Hungarian population in eastern Ukraine. It would be an easy win and one which would really help with future integration of Ukraine into the European field.

A great day for decency. A terrible one for five-lettered ogres like Orban, Trump and Putin.

Orban is out. Nice! Maybe JD Vance wants to help Fico next?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,051 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

What do you want him to do regarding ethic Hungarians in Ukraine? They're all born in Ukraine and are considered Ukrainians.

Good post though and I probably joined the mob at one point calling for them to be suspended. I can't remember tbh.

But it's history now and the EU strategy has proven successful.

Vances credibility takes a huge hit with his support of Orban combined with his failure to get a deal with Iran.

Finally been shown up for the spoofer he is
