    Hi Lads,

Im looking at a Husqvarna 430X second hand 3 years old for 1200.

What are the things I should be looking out for ?

Or common issue to check item is 3 years old and has been services by main dealer every year apparenlty.

Is there a way to verify though th eapp on the phone?

why is he selling? how long is battery lasting? you see it in action?

you can buy them new for 2800 as old tech old model.

not a chance would I buy a second hand one with the amount of trouble these bots in general can give if you're unlucky.

how big is your area? roborock is coming. The king of indoor is coming.

at service they check the seals supposedly, take off the cover and clean, needs to be done for extended warranty. no good to you.

@platypuss Would you have a link to where you can buy them new for 2800 ?

Would the below be a good alternative to 430X?

    there it is, 2850euro currently.

yea, I like the mammotions, samsung is coming now aswell with their range and will probably top even the Husq for price! mower market is heading for the big billions! All the new models are very similar now though.

Mam have good range of machines but better to buy them from a shop not online so you can go to them if you have issues. Their customer support was near non existent in the past. I was reading a review and the guy couldn't get a wheel part under warranty even when he offered to pay (which he shouldn't have had to!) Mower was effectively a paper weight. I see the reps responding now over on Reddit to people and they're building out a sales network now here, I see them available in B&Ms so you'll have service if you have an issue.

Theirs Reddit forums for all of them and the bots in general. Full of complaints but people don't comment when they're happy so you just got to see what all the complaints are about.

    Fair play,

Did a fair bit of research a year or two back and Husky seemed to be the safe bet back then.

Looking around now again wireless seems to be too good to pass up if the price is in around 3k mark.

Will do a check on other brands as well

    Thanks again

i refuse to pay the husky premium. Segway has a good few years in there software now. Some good options. Price the spare blades on whatever you like the look of. some are charging 80/90 euro for real steel and some 15 euro for same. For a part that you'll end up replacing a few times that will add up needlessly.

    razor Vs real blades...

    https://www.reddit.com/r/roboticLawnmowers/

theirs the main sub. You'll end up swimming in options now though. To much choice.

Anyone knows where I can order a Navimow i210 Lidar?

I tried a local dealer and he says lidar models are not sold in Ireland and UK.

The UK segway website seem to sell them and you cannot order direct through the Irish website also the European one does not have an Ireland option in the address. No contact from them either enquring about where to buy in Ireland.

Farm and homestore it appears you can place an order and I tried calling them to confirm but no answer.

Great to see this stuff coming down into reasonable price ranges now.

its getting there. needs to go sub 2k.

I have a 4 ISH year old robot vac and mop with a lidar turret that spins.

New lidar models don't need to spin anymore so 1 less moving part.

In the mowers The part apparently costs 200e, the mower price jump for some makers lidar over rtk is over 800 quid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 34,912 ✭✭✭✭listermint

True, but also these things were not available or into the 5k not long ago. So it's nice to see it dropping into just over 1k mark with addition sensors etc

I'm getting all these different models mixed up. There's a cheaper model lidar model i208 they don't seem to sell in Ireland.

My back garden is only about 450 meters not sure if I should fork out for a i210 at €1500 or get last years model i105 that does 500 meters for about €869 but no lidar.

Half the price but I like the new model where I can practically just plonk it down and let it do it stuff.

Having looked at Luba 2/3 for the past few months I was 100% sure that was the mower I'd buy. However, feedback generally was negative in terms of support/parts and that coupled with the cost meant I didn't buy. In the end I bought a Segway i208 AWD and couldn't be happier. Setup was really easy, mowing is very good too. Highly recommended.

I was going to buy that model but as you say cant order from Segway.

Any of the Irish retailers I have see who sell it are €200 more expensive.

I think out of principle I will look at a different brand but that model really suited what I needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 512 ✭✭✭Block (8

I actually picked one up locally for €1299 and will be installing it today.

There's a promotion just started where you get a free garage for the mower that you claim through Segway online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 512 ✭✭✭Block (8

There's a storm with strong winds tomorrow, do you store the mower in the shed?

Does anyone have a navimow garage and how does it stand up in very strong winds and rain?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭JoeA3

if you have a shed and it’s bad out there, no harm putting it away for the day. But it’ll probably be fine really.

I was going to get one of their garages but put it off, seems pricey for what it is. I believe direct sunlight is actually more harmful to them in the longer term than rain, UV light damage etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 512 ✭✭✭Block (8

The garage hasn't arrived yet and looking at the mower getting drenched I know probably is OK but you do worry.

The navimow garage does look quite exposed at the sides. I would prefer the dog house styled ones for better cover from UV.

    Hi.

I have a Luba 2 3000x and delighted with it. I want to get one for my mother but she lives 2 hours drive away so I know luba will not work as I cannot control it remotely if any issue, typical common to have it go outside task area and it requires manual movement.

Is there any robot with full remote control from anywhere, lawn is 1500 sq metres.

    Thanks

Husqvarana is phasing out the older wired models in favour of the wire-free (NERA) ones.

Price cuts across all the older stuff as a result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,263 ✭✭✭Eggs For Dinner

Ah thanks, I hadn't seen it was wired. Wouldn't suit me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,263 ✭✭✭Eggs For Dinner

Looking for advice please. I've almost set my mind on a Husqvarna 310E Nera. I went to the local dealer today and the chap I was dealing with didn't exactly inspire me. He quoted €350 to install using wifi and €800 to put in a reference station. He told me he only really wants to put in a reference station as he constatly gets callouts when the mower loses signal under trees etc.

My lawn is an open rectangle with no trees or other obstacles to block signal. A have a wifi mesh beside the gable wall where the lawn is. I've tested the wifi at the extremities of the lawn and it seems ok. I've looked at installation on YouTube and reckon I could manage it myself. I'm thinking I'll install via wifi myself and buy a reference station later if needs be.

Any advice would be much appreciated

    That’s nuts.
The dealer I bought my Segway off also offered an installation service costing several hundred, but they were pretty straight with me, telling me that I’d easily manage it myself if I was any way competent with simple DIY tasks and if relatively comfortable with tech - setting something up with a phone app. The other thing they’d do is install ramps etc at kerbs if needed but again this is not difficult DIY.

They did tell me though that certain makes/models definitely do require a professional installation. Kress is definitely one for sure, as Kress machines need to be calibrated with nearby Kress transmitters.

I’m not familiar with what’s involved in setting up a Husqvarna, whether it’s like the Kress or can be totally DIY like my Segway is

Thanks, appreciate that. Can I ask what is the distance from your router to the far end of your garden? Do you ever get loss of signal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,603 ✭✭✭JoeA3

I have an external WiFi access point outside the back door of my house, so its not far at all.

However, the internet router and "loss of signal" that you're referring to are 2 different things. The Segway comes with its own GPS antenna which you position close to the base / docking station. This antenna talks to satellites and its this that determines the positioning/direction of the mower.

The internet router should have nothing to do with this. If my machine lost internet access, it would still function fine afaik. It's just I wouldn't be able to communicate with it from the phone app. The machine itself also has a built in 4G SIM card so it doesn't actually even need WiFi access, the SIM card will do its job in the absence of Wifi.

I'd be surprised if the Husqvarna is any different.

    I’ve never had an automated lawn mower and I’m considering the Mammotion Luba 3 AWD. Just checking if anyone has one, that might share their experience? My overall lawn area is approx. 2,500m2, mainly split into two areas divided by a gravel driveway. Ground is a little rough that’s why I’m considering an AWD. But I’ve a few concerns;

    • I live in the country, with no next-door neighbours, fairly open boundaries. How safe would the mower be, i.e can they be easily stolen?
    • I’ve a number of trees. In autumn there can be a lot of leaves on my lawn. I normally just leave them, and run my push lawnmower over them. Will this be an issue with an automated mower?
    • I’ve a number of open ditches on the boundary of my lawn. Will I need to erect a barrier to prevent my mower slipping into a drain / ditch.
    • A small area of my lawn has daffodils. I normally don’t cut the grass in this area until the daffodils have died back. If I get an automated mower will I just have to say goodbye to my daffodils?
    • We have a very weak mobile reception in our area. Will this impact the positioning via 4G?
    • Automated mowers are fairly expensive, especially in comparison to a good push mower. What kind of life span can you realistically expect for an automated mower?

I know I could ask all these questions to the manufacturer or sales person, but I’d like to get a owner’s experience / opinion.

I have the Luba 2 going into my 3rd year and love it. Great bit of kit.

I live in the country, with no next-door neighbours, fairly open boundaries. How safe would the mower be, i.e can they be easily stolen? - Well most things that we have around are garden are easily stolen.

I’ve a number of trees. In autumn there can be a lot of leaves on my lawn. I normally just leave them, and run my push lawnmower over them. Will this be an issue with an automated mower?

    — It will be able to cope with some but probably not all that you will have. I rake mine and the lawn is better for it.

I’ve a number of open ditches on the boundary of my lawn. Will I need to erect a barrier to prevent my mower slipping into a drain / ditch.

-- Nope. You just map your area and include no go zones. She won't venture where she is not supposed to go.

A small area of my lawn has daffodils. I normally don’t cut the grass in this area until the daffodils have died back. If I get an automated mower will I just have to say goodbye to my daffodils?

-- easy to deal with. Map out a no go zone then delete it after the daffs have done their thing. A great thing about the Luba v some of the other options is you have complete control over the mapping. ReMap, add or delete no go zones as often as you like.

We have a very weak mobile reception in our area. Will this impact the positioning via 4G?

—Doesn't matter as it has it's own antenna system. That would only matter if were using a SIM.

Automated mowers are fairly expensive, especially in comparison to a good push mower. What kind of life span can you realistically expect for an automated mower?

-- Honestly, I don't know. I shared the same concern but I have to say I love this bit of kit in comparison to the ride on. I was happy to risk it. And 2,500 is a lot to do with a push mower!

I posted a detailed write-up of my experience earlier in the thread.

    Found it:
