Not children - I believe they mean older high school students or university students (late teens, early 20s).

"Iran murdered 30k of its own civilians"

A brazen lie, massively inflated numbers and you are a fool for believing them

"the US has bombed 600 schools"

Totally believable, well said that woman.

Do you apply a critical filter to anything that happens to align with your own viewpoint?

4.5 million of WTI dumped on the market at exactly 9.01 in one institutional trade - crashing the price by $2 since. Very dangerous profit-taking if ceasefire hopes are indeed scuppered - if indeed it is profit-taking.

    Otherwise someone knows something.

If it trades down as a result during the day, look out for a big buy-back minutes before zero-hour. That might indicate an attack rather than a taco.

Nuclear early warning system - you don't need to detect a missile launch, just the insider trading before it

Where would the US be shooting from? Is it not in Irans interests to hit US bases today?

Sky News had a story over the weekend about 12 year olds being recruited.

Really? I read that the government had put out an appeal for high school and university students, athletes, artists and members of NGO / volunteer organisations to go to the power plants. 12 seems very much on the young side.

Even if children and civilians form rings around energy infrastructure there is no way it would deter Trump. Would probably only encourage him "they use civilian human shields and this is exactly why we need to destroy the regime"

Why pre-empt an attack ? They have told everyone what will happen in response.

Total destruction of Gulf energy production, Red sea closed, datacentres destroyed, bridges destroyed and water plants destroyed. They even gave the names and images of the facilities in advance.

You would be certain a few of those countries will not be too happy if Trump went through with what he has said he will do, but at the end of the day it is his call. I think he knows he is finished myself if he goes ahead, more worryingly he probably does not care either.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is unconscious and is being treated for a “severe” medical issue in the city of Qom, while he is unable to govern the country, according to an intelligence assessment

begs the question who is making the decisions in iran at present

By all accounts, Iran doesn't operate a pyramid structure in its leadership and delegates decision making to a whole bunch of people. This is where the two numbskulls Trump and Netanyahu went disastrously wrong in thinking that all they had to do was assassinate the Ayatollah to bring about the collapse of Iran.

    bridge near Qom

railway bridge by israelis near kashan 2 dead

    oil export facilities kharg island

trump does have a habit of striking early before his original deadline is up...?

They try to wipe out the entire government and then complain they’ve nobody to negotiate with. Well, Trump complains. Netanyahu doesn’t want anybody left.

Read somewhere recently that in ideology led States, who is the leader doesnt matter. The decisions are driven by the ideology, not any individual views.

I would be of mind to believe that it's Israel doing the early bombing to ensure one way or another that Trump follows through this evening. Whether that will work is anyone's guess

Trump and Netanyahu genuinely convinced themselves that all they had to do was assassinate the leader and the state of Iran would collapse within the space of 72 hours. You would wonder who is advising them or where they are getting their intelligence from.

It's Israel. They already said they were striking railways. They will not accept any ceasefire. That's their MO. Just warmongers. A terrorist state.

During the war with Iraq in the 80s, the Iranian military pressured the Ayatollah to give the ok to the military to produce chemical weapons, he refused on the basis they were haram. So it used to be that the Ayatollah had the final say on things, but knowing his days were numbered after the 12 day war it seems the power structure was changed( it became more decentralised) in order to try and make it harder for Israel and America in any future war.

Can anyone here explain this big rescue mission to me? The US blew up billions worth of gear?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,641 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

I'd say it's more so, especially in the case of Trump, they only hear what they want to hear. It seems inconceivable that US military planners didn't forsee that Iran would use the Strait of Hormuz as leverage in the event of being attacked. Donnie, thinking he could replicate what happened in Venezuela by bombing the crap out of Iran for a couple of days, simply didn't listen to any misgivings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,760 ✭✭✭yagan

Supposedly two C130 large aircraft were intentionally torched as they got bogged down in sand and couldn't take off. The narrative is that they carried small helicopters for a rescue mission for the pilots of the downed F15.

Other than that there's very little detail.

It seems inconceivable that US military planners didn't forsee that Iran would use the strait of hormuz as leverage in the event of being attacked.

It beggars belief if it is, in fact, true.

Jesus I could have told them that was going to happen.

I think the truth lies more in fact that they knew but didn't care. The Israeli's were always going to attack Iran, they're on a wild greater Israel land grab that's being facilitated more now than ever before by a US President. So Trump, et al, thought they'd get involved and consequences be damned. None of them will ever feel the heat because of their decisions as they're all insulated from the fall out and they don't give a toss about the ordinary guy in the street who'll now see the prices of everything rise due to the global interruption of oil markets. The likes of Trump wouldn't even have a clue what the cost of a gallon of petrol even is at the pump, or a loaf of bread in the local shop. He doesn't care.

The Republicans also know that they have another two years of chaos to do before they're, more than likely, turfed out of power. So they aren't in it for that game either.

I sincerely doubt that there was nobody in the corridors of power, either in Israel or the US that didn't warn of the obvious move that Iran would make regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the difficulties that ordinary people would face because of such a move. The thing is you have a genuine psychopath running Israel and narcissistic sociopath in the White House who'd happily take down the planet in pursuit of their goals and wouldn't bat an eyelid at the cost, even in lives.

latest from trump before his deadline tonight..

"A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!"

I would say Israel is also among those countries not wanting a ceasefire.

Israel destroyed the main Synagogue in Tehran. Wouldn't want Jews that support Zionism to speak.
