2nd episode stronger overall but a couple of v weak sketches, seem to struggle to write sketches that heavily feature guest presenter.

Tbf theres that problem even in the main SNL when someone is a first time host. The lack of chemistry/knowing what exactly the host can do.

British theme pub pub pub pub ha. Plus the Jools Holland sketch.

I really enjoyed the second episode, overall stronger than the first episode, cold open much better, I didn't think the weekend update was quite as strong as week one though.

Jamie Dornan was fun (but no Tina Fey in fairness a hard act to follow) Barb and Star was a great giggle.

Fitting that Riz Ahmed says the show is going to be c**p when Kasabian are coming up.

    Kasabian. What happened with them?

    They're terrible now.

What do you mean ‘now’? 😁

Forever and always beyond mediocre landfill indie that nobody needs.

Forgot about it been on. Will try and get it on sky comedy tomorrow night, if people here think it maybe worth watching?

Only seen clips online, but have to say the Operation sketch and the Traitors parody were both pretty great.

The seagull sketch was pretty good too.

I had never heard of George Fouracres before SNL UK, but he already seems to be becoming the breakout star. Resembles a young Bob Mortimer, facially.

Yep. He was brilliant in the Seagull sketch and as Starmer in the opening sketch.

On the negative side I didnt like the padding out of Weekend Update with absurd stuff.

I thought this week was probably the weakest of the three, but Riz Ahmed was game and still some fun sketches like the crab one, the musical guest....wow absolutely abysmal, Sergio Pizzorno not a single note in his head.

I thought they had finished when the original lead singer left. They should have.

I wasn't a huge fan of them anyway but Tom Meighan could at least sing.…

Jack Whitehall hosting this week, with music from Jorja Smith.

Last night’s episode was a bit so-so for me.

The ‘Peter Pan’ sketch and the opening monologue were the stand-outs.

I tried to watch this. What an absolute load of muck. I hope it flops and is cancelled.

    No episode this weekend.

Returns Saturday 25th with Nicola Coughlan as host and Foo Fighters.

This weekends episode with Nicola Coughlan was very good fun, Emma Sidi was the MVP, George Fouracres also terrific as usual.

Weekend update had some terrific lines.

    This weekends episode

    Aimee Lou Wood and Meek.

Next two episodes will then be.

    Hannah Waddingham and Myles Smith

    Ncuti Gatwa and Holly Humberstone

    Promising.

Americans living in London who are never going to step outside the capital wondering what ‘northern’ is. 😁

The ‘British Pork’ sketch was good (especially with George Fouracres corpsing), although I cringed at the Super Mario sketch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,735 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

They've done brilliantly to come up with the right kind of farcical legit "British" humour and have landed more than they've missed. The Mario skit did have a bang of the American show off it.

    Renewed for season 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,646 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

It surprising how little, since its written the week its broadcast that it doesn't do more political/news sketches, SNL US oly ever does 1 or 2, SNL UK mostly 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,646 ✭✭✭✭expectationlost

    Last ep was very poor.

Don’t think I’ll bother next season, this was pretty rubbish, don’t think I laughed once!!

Opening sketch, the coal mine sketch, music act (Holly Humberstone) good.
Didn't think Weekend Update was up to much versus previous weeks.
Disappointed in the "black James Bond" sketch trying to make use of Ncuti Gatwa worked.

I don't think Ania Magliono appeared in any non Weekend Update sketches? Paddy Young popped up in a few.
