Nope. But if they did, I don't think a slight angle on the screen would stop them. I think it's more important for the driver to easily be able to do what they need to do, than a passenger change the music.

Congrats. We have an order for the base standard spec. Are you missing any of the features from the so called premium variant? and how do you find the performance and new softer suspension. Cheers!

FYI Trade-in Bonus down to €2K

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,507 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Somewhat expected. Sorta surprised they left anything in there really, that's a change in behaviour from previous years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 457 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

Suspension is noticeably better. Over speed ramps it's noticable how much softer it is.

Only issue I have is the gear shift lever missing as it is on all Tesla's now. I like quick maneuvers and I don't care what anyone says the auto shift is no replacement. Can't fathom why it's removed.

But that's my only gripe. Don't miss anything else and in fact the other natural improvements they have made make up for any of the "missing" features.

I noticed the adjustments for the passenger seat is only 2 options. And no up and down. But I don't care as I'm always driving it lol.

Sound system maybe not as good but all in all its cracking value for money. There is always going to be a tradeoff at the price but I wouldn't have any other car for the money.

Its incredible and the biggest plus point is that the battery seems to be almost 15% more efficient than the older model. And slightly more usable pack size. That alone is a home run.

Steering doesn't seem to have options to change the feel. I find it a little tighter but it's grand.

Performance wise the 0.3 seconds slower is hardly noticable at all. It's still a rocket when u need it to be.

I had 105km of the older model and never ever needed any more range than the shorter range offered. For me the long range is totally unnecessary even for the volume of driving I do.

Although the trade in has dropped to €2,000 but you can avail of the 0.99% finance on HP or PCP. So not all bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Trade in bonus doesn't stack with pcp or hp through Tesla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 457 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

Yep. The trade in bonus means u have to either pay in cash or finance at a way higher rate yourself. Unless u have a piece of crap only worth a few hundred and are paying in cash it is not worth it.

Tesla offered me a trade in of 14.5k on my model 3 2022. I put it up on done deal for 20k. Sold it in 48 hours for 19.5. They were queuing up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Badger242

Sorry, you're right. I got confused when I read €2,000 trade-in and 0.99%. I though it meant both not either/or.

Anyone looking to shift a 22 M3 for the 19.5k mark mentioned above, give me a shout

Yes, it's great the efficiency gains Tesla have made since the last model. I came from a 2022 Model 3 LFP to a 2026 Model Y LFP.

I reckon my new Y is approx 5% more efficient than my previous 3. And the Y is probably 10% less efficient than the 3 (At a guess with the extra size and weight). So your 15% may not be far out.

Also my Model Y is a little more powerful than my old 3, also because of the height I find I drive a little faster..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 457 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

I had 105000km on my old model 3 and about 70% of those miles on m1 and m50. Other 30% normal roads.

Over the lifetime in all weather I averaged 162wh/km

The new model 3 2026 is already at 134 wh/km after 500km granted its in between seasons weather. But I've been hammering it a bit more than normal.

I reckon it's gonna be about that 140 mark easily long term all seasons which is a huge gain. And if u don't do as many motorway miles as I do I'd say you would see about the 120 wh/km mark.

I drive at 125kmh on the motorway so I'm not driving Miss Daisy.

But I can already see it's far more efficient just eye balling it. Plus it doesn't seem as sensitive to low temps for regen restriction.

That's just my own observations but I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to this stuff so I'm pretty sure it's a fair indicator.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 457 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

To add we also have an ev9 and it has averaged 250 wh/km. Just got rid of it this month. Was too big and an awful waste of energy. Had a 100kw battery but had about the same range as the new m3 standard when all was said and done.

Plus the software etc was dogshit compared to the Tesla.

For the few times a year we actually needed it, it was silly. Just take the 2 cars instead now. MY and M3.

M3 standard was always my go to no matter where I was going. Love it.

I think that's just because the later models use blended brakes more, so you don't notice the restriction. Also they don't appear to notify you on screen any more that regen is restricted.

Just a quick update I’ve had the Model 3 LR for 5 days now and covered about 1,200 km.

Have to say I’m seriously impressed with the range. It’s noticeably more efficient than the 252 Skoda Enyaq 80 I had before.

Only real gripe so far is the wipers they’re not great at sensing the rain properly. Also noticed yesterday a pretty annoying squeak coming from the driver’s side wiper arm. That said, it was a very wet day and I was driving for about 5 hours straight.

Took it out again this morning and the squeak seems to have disappeared, so hopefully just a temporary thing.

Ive attached a picture from yesterday showing battery usage, I'm not sure how to have it in kW per 100kms

    20260402_142050.jpg

Overall though very happy with it so far.

Move the decimal point one to the left. 👍️

Also noticed yesterday a pretty annoying squeak coming from the driver’s side wiper arm.

I'd say it's just what ever gunk they put on their new cars. Mine are also noisy at times even after a month (Model Y). I can still see where the pre-delivery stickers were on the windows and windscreen, must get out and give the glass a good clean..

    16.1 kWh/100km or 16.2 if you’re rounding 😀

Just move the decimal point one place to the left.

The wipers are back to how they were 3 years ago. They do not work properly when set to auto at all.

Mad how they were eventually fixed on my 2022 m3 but have gone backwards again.

Anyone else finding the wipers in auto mode unusable?

Also noticed the autopilot disengages when moving lanes. It's a sneaky move, on the 2022 model at least when autopilot disengages the cruise control stayed on.

Yeah, I have them set to off. They either come in when they shouldn't, or don't when they should. Bit of a pain considering I had cars in the 2000s that had no issue with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 457 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

I see there is a couple of m3 standards up on inventory this morning. I'd imagine they won't be there for too long.

The interest in Ev's with this war really has spike recently.

Anyone with an order in should be easily able to switch their deposit to one of these

Just a quick one to see if anyone else has this or found a workaround. When I’m using Waze on my phone

If I’m listening to DAB radio I get NO voice directions at all

Weirdly, if I’m on a phone call Waze voice comes through fine

So it seems like the car only prioritises call audio and not nav audio when on DAB.

Bluetooth settings are all correct (calls + media enabled) and Waze sound settings are normal.

Is this a Tesla limitation with DAB? Has anyone found a way to get Waze directions over DAB? Or is everyone just using Bluetooth audio / Tesla nav instead?

    Any tips appreciated 👍

Did you manage to sell the EV9 privately ? Not that many of them available used.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 773 ✭✭✭whowantstwoknow

    Ai says

Yes — what you’re seeing is a known limitation with Teslas and DAB radio, not a Waze bug. Many drivers of and report the exact same behavior when using over Bluetooth while the car audio source is DAB.

    Why it happens

Tesla’s audio system treats sources differently:

    • Phone calls (HFP – Hands-Free Profile) → always interrupt any source (including DAB)
    • Navigation / media audio (A2DP) → only plays if the car is already on Bluetooth audio

When you're listening to DAB, the car doesn't mix or duck the radio for Bluetooth nav prompts. But when you're on a phone call, it switches to the call audio channel — which is why Waze directions suddenly work.

So your observation is actually a clue:
    ✔ Call audio works
❌ Nav prompts don’t interrupt DAB

That’s consistent with how Tesla handles audio priorities.

    Workarounds people commonly use

These are the most reliable ones Tesla owners mention:

    1. Switch the car audio source to Bluetooth

    • Start playing anything from your phone (music/podcast/silence).
    • Waze directions will then play normally.

    2. Use Tesla’s built-in navigation

    • Tesla nav voice will interrupt DAB because it's integrated with the system.

    3. Run radio from the phone instead of DAB

    • Stream the same station through an app like

      • via Bluetooth.

    4. Keep Waze open but mutedSome drivers:

    • Use Waze visually
    • Keep Tesla nav active for voice prompts.

    Why Tesla hasn’t fixed it

Tesla’s infotainment currently doesn’t mix Bluetooth nav prompts over radio sources. Since they prioritize their own nav system, it hasn’t been addressed in software updates.

    Quick test to confirm

    Try this:

    1. Start Bluetooth audio on the car (even if paused).
    2. Open Waze and drive.

You should immediately hear the voice directions.

    Short answer:
Yes — it’s a Tesla audio-priority limitation with DAB. Waze directions only play reliably when the car is on Bluetooth audio or a phone call, not while DAB is the active source.

If you want, I can also show you a very handy Tesla/Waze trick a lot of Irish drivers use that gives you Waze alerts on the Tesla screen with voice directions, which solves this problem completely. 🚗

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,194 ✭✭✭joe1303l

You might elaborate on the Waze/Tesla trick you mentioned as a workaround ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 773 ✭✭✭whowantstwoknow

    My non humanoid says....

Yes — the trick many drivers use with is a dual-navigation setup that gets around Tesla’s DAB audio limitation while still giving you Waze’s alerts.

The “Tesla + Waze” trick 🚗

Use Tesla navigation for voice and Waze for alerts at the same time.

    How to set it up

    1. Start navigation in the Tesla built-in nav (enter the same destination).
    2. Open Waze on your phone.
    3. In Waze settings:
      • Turn Voice guidance → Alerts only (or mute it completely).
    4. Put the phone in a holder or keep it on the console.

    What happens

    • Tesla navigation
      • Gives turn-by-turn voice
      • Interrupts DAB radio normally
    • Waze
      • Shows speed cameras
      • Shows Garda checkpoints / hazards
      • Shows traffic reports from other drivers

So you get the best parts of both systems without losing your radio.

    Why this works

    Tesla treats:

    • Its own navigation as a system audio source → can interrupt DAB.
    • Bluetooth app audio (Waze) as media → cannot interrupt DAB.

Using Tesla for voice avoids the Bluetooth limitation.

Extra tip many Irish Tesla drivers use

Set Waze to sound alerts only for police, cameras, and hazards.
That way the phone only makes noise when something important appears.

💡 If you'd like, I can also show you a little-known Tesla feature that lets Waze directions appear on the Tesla map screen (not officially supported but widely used).

The trick is to display Waze inside the Tesla browser, so it appears on the car’s screen instead of only on your phone. Many owners of the use this because Tesla doesn’t support Android Auto or CarPlay.

    There are two common ways.

1️⃣ The simple method (no apps) — Waze in the Tesla browser

You can open a special web version of Waze designed for Tesla.

    Steps

    1. On the Tesla screen open Browser.
    2. Go to:
      teslawaze.azurewebsites.net
    3. Sign in with your account.
    4. The map loads with:
      • traffic
      • speed cameras
      • police reports
      • hazards

    What it gives you

✔ Waze alerts on the Tesla screen
    ✔ Works while you drive
    ✔ No phone mount needed

    Limitations

    • It does not give voice directions through the car.
    • It’s mainly for visual alerts.

Most drivers still run Tesla navigation for voice guidance.

2️⃣ The advanced method — Full Waze on the Tesla screen

Android users can install the app:

This app creates Android Auto inside the Tesla browser, letting you run:

    • Waze
    • Google Maps
    • Spotify
    • other Android Auto apps

    How it works

    1. Install TesAA on your Android phone.
    2. Start the app.
    3. It creates a local server on your phone.
    4. Open the Tesla browser and connect to that address.
    5. Android Auto appears on the screen.

Then you can run Waze directly in the car display.

    Pros

    ✔ Real Waze interface
    ✔ Voice directions
    ✔ Larger map view

    Cons

    • Setup takes a few minutes
    • Needs your phone running in the car

What most Tesla owners actually do

    The most stable setup is:

    1. Tesla navigation → voice guidance
    2. Waze → alerts only
    3. Optional: open TeslaWaze in the browser for visuals

This avoids the Bluetooth/DAB audio limitation you noticed earlier.

Apologies for the long responses, he's a chatty fecker

Hey didn't try. The offer I got for it was decent and not much less than I paid for it. Bought it 3 months old at a good knockdown originally. Massive hole but ended up just wasn't necessary

Does that require placing a new order even though we have RN number with us? I contacted Tesla rep later today but it seems they were ooo by then.

Interesting take. Have model 3 highland and EV9 also. Can't complain about the EV9 at all, fantastic car, averages 22.5kwh/100km for us and can often be sub 20 cruising in the summer. Need a 7 seater for another few years but will prob go for a mY then. Nothing stacks up to the Tesla software wise but the Kia is grand IMO
