February is on the way, and that means LOI football is on the way.

What was in large part a pretty bleak 2025 season finished with an unlikely run to the playoff final and a cruel defeat by Bray, so it did end with some optimism.

But since then, we've seen the inevitable loss of Lee Devitt to Galway (and best of luck to him there), as well as Corey Chambers and Evan O'Connor among a few others. We've also seen players coming in, most notably Jack Brady, Cian Curtis, and Eric Yoro.Overall, with the loss of Devitt, we're in a weaker spot than last season I'd say. Huge holes in midfield, just like last season.

The women's team continue to bring players in, still some from Canada, but there was a mass exodus just 3 days ago with 8 players leaving the club, so not sure what this season will be like for them.

We also saw the the deaprture of Ciara McCormack as CEO. Not sure of the impact of that.

We've already had a few games. We lost a friendly 2-0 to Galway and beat Kerry 4-2, while we are out of the Munster Senior Cup already after losing in entra-time last night awat to Ringmahon Rangers. We have a friendly today against Sligo at 2pm (in Wesport, for whatever reason).

First match of the season is away to Cork Friday February 13th -nasty one to start.

No, every club releases most of their players at the end of the season as most are on a 1 year contract. Over 95 players released at the end of last season across both leagues.

It's true that almost all players (certainly in Division 1) are on one-season deals, but the 8 leaving are as follows: Karl O'Sullivan, Patrick Ferry, Eoin Martin, Joe Hanson, Niko Kozlowski, Connor Wilson, Dean Owens and Chris Horgan.

Certainly, O'Sullivan, Ferry, and Koslowski are departures that will weaken Treaty.

Lee Lynch has also left, which is perhaps the biggest loss of all.

Unless replacements come in, we will be (even more) weak in midfield and lightweight up front.

Cork 1-0 Treaty

Cork grabbed a last-minute winner in an entertaining match tonight.

The first half was even enough. Both sides had chances and Treaty hit the post midway through the half.

But as the second half wore on, Cork became the dominant team, and even though it looked like we might escape with a point after a resolute defensive effort, they poked home an injury time winner.

Still, a much more competitive game than I thought we would offer.

Next game: home to Bray, Friday February 20th, 7.45pm.

Treaty 0-1 Bray

Disappointment for Treaty in the first home game of the season.

We can be very aggrieved that Bray were not down to 10 men within 2 minutes for what looked like denying a goal scoring opportunity just outside the box, and we started well in general.

Bray came back into it and had the best chance of the half when their striker got in behind the defence but placed his shot the wrong side of the post.

It was even enough in the second half, with Bray perhaps slightly more dangerous, and they took the lead with a lovely header about 20 minutes in.

Treaty huffed and puffed after that but Bray defended handily enough. When the big chance finally did arrive with two minutes to go, Mark Byrne was far too tame with his far post finish of a ball across the box, allowing the defender to block, and that was that.

UCD 2-0 Treaty

Three losses in a row leaves us bottom of the league and we are still to score a goal this season.

We started terribly, and we were 1 down after six minutes, and things didn't improve, and we were 2 down after half an hour.

We were somewhat better in the second half. We stabilised in defense and managed to put some passes together, had good periods of possession, but our total lack of any attacking threat meant we never looked like getting back into the game.

I think we didn't get a shot on target until a team header in injury time.

It's going to be a long grim season.

really good second half performance but seriously missing something up front , great support all night above , it looked like something you would see in serie b in italy where the away supporters arrive 15 minutes late into the game

i dont think its going to be as grim , the first goal was down to passive defensive , the second was actually a good goal , but we have no cutting edge upfront , enda curran and lee devitt are huge bodies to replace , it looks like we are miles away in that department ,the back 4 and midfield actually looked okay tonight

Treaty 2-2 Kerry

(Curtis 2, 1 penalty)

We finally got off the mark tonight and picked up our first point of the season.

We were very poor and slow and ponderous in the first half and went behind after 15 minutes when a Kerry player was left in acres of space at the back post from a free kick and slammed the ball home from close range. We had half-chances through Oyenuga and Nwankwo, but Kerry defended easily enough.

We upped the pace a bit in the second half, and finally got our first goal of the season when a weak clearance fell to Cian Curtis and his shot was either deflected or mishit, but it crept into a corner with the keeper flatfooted.

The relief didn't last long, as a few players froze thinking a ball had one over the byline, and a Kerry player nipped in in front of Ohin and went down for what looked a very soft penalty, which was scored.

We pressed and Kerry retreated back to the final third, and it was just attack for the last few minutes. It didn't look like yielding anything though, until in the final minute Fionn Doherty got himself in front of a defender about to clear, allowed himself to be brought down, and Curtis scored the penalty. There was even time for Nwankwo to head over from close range, but the draw is fair enough.

Next game: away to Finn Harps, Friday March 13th, 7.45pm.

Finn Harps 2-2 Treaty

(Oyenuga 2)

Late late disappointment for Treaty tonight.

It was a very open first half, and we were 2-0 up with 20 minutes. Two super goals from Jason Oyenuga, the first a lovely run and finish, the second a rocket.

Harps came close through a massive scramble, while we had other chances too.

I didn't get to see much of the second half, but updates told me that Harps pulled one back with 12 minutes to go, and equalised in the 4th minute of injury time.

So close to our first win of the season.

Next game: home to Athlone, Friday March 30, 7.45pm.

Treaty 2-0 Athlone

(Feeney, Curtis penalty)

Treaty finally picked up their first win of the season after a comfortable win over a very poor Athlone side.

The first half was a completely forgettable affair. Treaty created absolutely nothing, while Athlone had one good shot from outside the area that needed a smart save from Brady.

We took the lead very early in the second half. A low ball into the box caused a bit of a poor clearance and a scramble, and Ben Feeney reacted quickest to fire home a low shot at the keeper's near post.

We doubled our lead soon after the hour mark. Jevontae Layne was dragged back in the box, and Cian Curtis fired high into the net.

After that, Athlone offered virtually nothing in attack, and it ended up being a very comfortable night.

Next game: away to Wexford, Friday March 28, 7.45pm.

Wexford 3-2 Treaty

(Feeney, own goal)

Poor performance got the result it deserved tonight.

We started very slowly and were behind after only 3 minutes when a defensive mix-up allowed a striker in on goal.

We could have been further behind with Wexford claiming that a header had crossed the line, but the ref wasn't having it.

Both sides missed penalties later on in the half.

We drew level early in the second half when Ben Feeney got there before a defender to meet a cross and power a header to the net, but Wexford regained the lead soon after, converting a cross of their own.

And they more or less sealed it with about 20 minutes to go when one of their players did very very well to hold on to possession and set up a shooting chance from the edge of the area.

We did have some chances ourselves, forcing some good saves, but our goal came about from an almost comical scramble in the box, and I have no idea who actually got the final touch.

Next game: home versus Longford, Friday April 3rd, 7.45pm.

Treaty 0-0 Longford

This was the first game I've actually been to all season, and it was one of the worst football games I've ever seen. Both sides are at the wrong end of the table, and it's easy to see why. Treaty offered absolutely no threat of any kind for the entire game, and Longford were little better.

Very late on we had Jack Brady to thank for a truly superb save low to his left after a well worked move and cutback, and that was without doubt the best moment of quality (in both the defence and attack) of an atrocious game.

Next game: away to Cobh, Bank Holiday Monday April 6th, 5pm (Note the different time)
