Shower pump trying to cut in after turning off

    Hi,

When we finish a shower, the pump will keep trying to cut in. To stop it, it seems to be a random sequence of turning on the shower again, going from hot to cold, turning off shower... Repeating until it stops. Sometimes it stops on first attempt other times it can take 5 or six.

Not used that service before but I uploaded the audio, hopefully you can hear

What type of pump is it?

On my grundfos pump this can occur if there is a leaking tap or shower not turning off fully

I had a toilet that was causing the pump to kick in, needed a little quarter turn adjustment to make the stop cock close the water inlet thingy tighter.

All words I made up because I haven't a clue - I did learn how it worked by taking it apart. There was the tiniest of trickle leaks that would make the pump come on intermittently. Food colouring in the cistern (while it's not in use for a few days) should help you see if it is leaking.

    Yeah it's a grundfos STC-2.0.

It's strange in that sometimes it happens when using the mixer tap in the kitchen, but this tap doesn't even use the pump!

It happens a lot when turning off the shower not there's no drip from the shower and we recently replaced the shower bar.

If three system is left alone it'll never occur spontaneously, when it had a leaking tap did it only try to kick in after you were using water? Or would it happen randomly?

Interesting use of food colouring! Handy idea for future reference. Did your pump only try to kick in after you turned off a tap or shower? Or did it happen randomly due to the leak? If left alone our pump will never try to kick in, it's only sometimes after turning off the mixer tap and often after turning off the shower. I see no leak from either. I'm wondering if I need to investigate the toilets, or if the pump would kick in at random times if that was the issut
