Not saying that Finland made the wrong choice, but…

    Y’know.

OK, who ordered the metal version of Sweden’s entry?

(cough) better than the original (cough)

Personally, I don’t see what all the love is for Finland and Denmark who are current favourites in the odds.

Nowhere near as memorable/catchy as ‘My System’, ‘Bangaranga’ or ‘Mother Nature’ (Luxembourg knocking it out of the park two years in a row!).

Speaking of which, that ‘pizzicato’ intro of ‘Mother Nature’ reminds me of a song by a female Irish singer-songwriter (not a criticism)…Wallis Bird, maybe?

Highly unlikely Israel can win, as we've seen the last two years the juries won't vote for them.

I'm surprised Sweden is as far down the odds as it is, surely this is a contender to win the televote? Don't think there's a path to victory with the juries, but this should be a bigger contender than the odds suggest.

I like Denmark a lot but would definitely agree it's odds are inflated. Strike me as a song that'll do quite well in both sides of the vote but without getting many 12's. Could see it ending up around 4th to 6th.

Boy George contributing to San Marino’s song.

I asked about this a few weeks back, and from what I've seen in recent days, I believe Boy George will not be credited on San Marino's song. While I'm less engaged with Eurovision this year, I was glad to hear it. Allowing a featured artist to pre-record their vocals would have seen the contest go even further down the slippery slope. By not being credited, it's just background vocals and within the rules.

Just to add, the song is dreadful anyway. What sort of vote boost does Senhit expect to get from 10 heavily autotuned words from someone whose heyday was 40 years ago?

Scott Mills certainly won't be part of the BBC's commentary team in Vienna.

Just watched and listened to all the songs in this year’s contest. Absolutely dreadful- the only one that’s just about ok is Finland. Apart from that forget it. No Eurovision nights for me this year.

I’m not really engaging with the contest this year but I’m sad to see Scott Mills leave. He genuinely loved Eurovision to the point of playing tracks and interviewing artists when he was on his afternoon show at least. He seemed more level headed than Rylan Clarke ad well who also loves the contest but I found Scott more interesting to listen to. Obviously it must be serious if he’s parted ways with the BBC so suddenly but it’s one less ESC fan on the air.

I'm not so sure that he was…but he did a good job of pretending to be a fan. Along with Rylan, there sometimes appeared to be shocking gaps in his knowledge, even at the contest happening right in front of him.

In my opinion, there were two Scotts who commentated for the BBC at Eurovision: a pre-2020 one, who was enthusiastic, funny and did seem to love the contest; and a post-2020 one, who didn't seem that bothered and came across as weary of the whole thing. I posted earlier this year that the BBC commentary team badly needed a refresh, and it appears we're getting one, just not the way we thought.

While I was never really a fan of Scott, and never listened to him on the radio when I living in the UK, I never had him down as a bad egg. Like many people, I initially assumed he's been sacked over drink and drugs, or something like that. It now appears it's the almost standard BBC "historic relationship with someone underage."

Sweden in the ‘cursed’ second place slot.

Possibly as punishment for speaking out against you-know-who. 😁

Doubt it to be honest. Someone needed to go second, so they gave it to an assured qualifier. Not the case for Azerbaijan though, who're essentially dead and buried now.

I'm disappointed Montenegro got put on as early as they are. After getting the death slot last year I thought producers would be a bit kinder this time around, but apparently not.

I don't think the r/o positions mean as much in the semi-finals, with one exception…you don't want to be the first act on after the commercial breaks. I think this is no longer an issue as the EBU tends to place the automatic qualifiers in those slots now.

Seems to be a lot of people very annoyed at Montenegro not being given the closing slot. Good to see Germany on after Israel, the atmosphere always goes flat after Israel has been on, so only fair that position goes to their biggest cheerleaders.
