Skoda Peaq

Hi all, not seeing much discussion anywhere on the Skoda Peaq considering it’s due out later this year. What are the thoughts when it might arrive here given the summer 2026 offical launch? We were really looking to change the current family car this year and the new Kodaiq sportline was top of the list as we want to move to a 7 seater.

The Peaq has got my attention though for multiple reasons e.g. we like our VAG cars in the house and have generally always driven them but (aside from the ID Buzz) this will be the first 7 seat electric from the brand. I’m pretty agnostic to going electric (currently have a diesel and a petrol), I’ve no big issue buying a diesel Kodaiq but we do have a large solar system and the price of diesel is getting pretty unattractive so I’d be open to changing.

I’d be hoping it’s going to have a lot of stuff also not currently on VAG evs like V2L at a minimum (if not V2H/G) and being a brand new car I’d be expecting something very nice in general from a spec etc perspective. I’d also hope it’s a little more traditional looking than many of the current large evs and early promo photos do make it look good I think behind the camouflage.

What are the thoughts price wise? I’d be hoping it’s similar to Kodaiq money given the diesel aspect is adding a lot to the price of a Kodaiq or at the very least decently cheaper them the likes of an EV9 or Iqonic 9. I’d also hope it’s a little neater than these as they are very big and a bit daunting for my wife aside from the fact they are too expensive especially for the premium spec models.

I feel this is potentially a bit of a game changing EV given the popularity of the Kodaiq and similar sized 7 seaters that currently has no ev option and the fact it’s one of the traditional European manufacturers that rightly or wrongly a lot of people want to buy. Also I’m surprised to see no talk about it but I’d assume there will be a VW 7 seater SUV ev on the same platform? Hard to see how there wouldn’t?

Co-worker is waiting to see the Peaq and it is the only EV which will sway him from ordering an EX60 at the end of the year. He drives a 77kwh Enyaq at the moment. 7 seater and all the steady improvements he has seen in my later MEB platform car over his Enyaq are the attractions for him.

I’m guessing it’ll be at least €60K starting to keep clear of Enyaq pricing and still compete with the 5008. Probably end up at €70K+ for a decent spec version. Assuming it’s Kodiaq sized, it’ll be more of a 5+2 rather than a proper 7 seater like an EV9. Should eat into diesel Kodiaq/Tayron sales if priced competitively though. Kodiaq’s are no longer the bargain they once were and the PHEV version is a bit of a flop only having 5 seats.

Yes I’d have a similar view price wise. You are looking at mid 60’s for a sportline Kodiaq if you add one or two extra bits so if it was in and around that or a little more for a sportline (assuming they keep that naming scheme) it would be what I’d be expecting.

I don’t think the kodiaq has been a bargain for a long time it’s just a great all rounder so is very popular. There is a lot of the new models already around, must be 4 dropping at our rural primary school along with lots of the older model - the second hand prices are off the charts it’s why we were just going to go new as a low rate pcp on a new one looks a much better value deal. Agreed also it was a total cop out not finding a way to get 7 seats into the phev it would have sold very well but as it stands I can’t see who would buy it. It’s a bit pointless.

As for the Peaq, the 5+2 would be fine for us, for ourselves day to day the Superb combi we have is great but we are getting caught more and more with play dates, cousins visiting or us visiting them for weekends etc that we can’t bring enough people along with other family events that people would take a lift with us if they could it just makes sense to get a 7 seater. The two back seats would be down a lot though to take arrange if the hopefully at least superb sized boot if not larger.

Embargo on first drive of camouflaged Peaq lifted at midnight. Plenty of videos in YouTube

Very positive so far in general. Only thing that stands out in a slightly negative way is I do think the 60kWh battery is going to be far too small on this size of vehicle so I hope there isn't a massive premium for the 90 - should really only be a 90kwh if you ask me or 90kwh entry and an even bigger one. Getting this into a somewhat affordable price range (not that cars are affordable these days) will be the big thing (with the bigger battery).

Small battery version probably won’t come to Ireland. This happened with the Enyaq, we never got the Enyaq 50, only the 60/80/85.

The app350 efficiency compensates for small battery to some extent but the market expects more and lease prices on larger battery is often little more than for small battery because they know they will be easier to sell in 3 or 4 years. The 600km range is acceptable. Needs 7 seats and roof to feel worth it.

That rear boot is about 1m cubed. I wonder what that does for Irish tax law

Boot is 1010 litres.....I think it's about 150l bigger than the Kodiaq. That's just mad!

Yes it's great, we on occasion no issue filling the boot and running out of space on the superb combi so an even bigger boot is very attractive 😊.

Edit: I am not seeing figures that large though on second look - seeing 890 quoted?

It is 1010 litres in 5 seater version according to review I saw.

Ah ok that makes sense as probably able to have a bit more depth. The 5 seater will sell in tiny numbers though, its almost pointless imo. Even if you never needed 7 seats you would be better buying the 7 seater for resale etc.

"As the largest Škoda ever, the Peaq offers unrivalled flexibility with five or seven seats. Need room for gear? The five-seater boasts a record-breaking 1,010-litre boot – the biggest in today’s Škoda range, making it the ultimate companion for your family’s journeys."

Yes sorry as above I had missed that it was the 5 seater I was only looking at figures for the 7 seater.

No hassle whatsoever. In fairness, I didn't state that it was the 5 seater either.

Jeez…. getting the current Kodiaq into some of the local Car Park spots is already a nightmare sometimes - so cant imagine 'the biggest Skoda yet' making my parking nightmares any better. Its going to send my cameras and beepers into overload.
