All the loons baying for Franks head, we deserve the championship. I said it earlier in the season he was here to scrape a mid table finish, how did people not understand he was acheiving that goal, however scrappily

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,916 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Frank had 29 points from 25 games.

With the majority of those in the first 2 months in charge.

He had something like 10 points from his previous 19 games (half a season) and we were on target to finish with less then 40 points. Scrape a mid table finish my ass.

There was no way Frank was scraping a mid table finish. We were dropping like a stone under Frank and Ange and continie to do so under Tudor. I don't know if there's a manager out there that can save us now but the blame clearly lies at the feet of the owners and execs at the top.

I thought Dyche had already turned us down?
Ben Davies as player manager (that can’t play due to injury) might command a bit of respect in the dressing room and will know the ins and outs of the players.
    Might be a good shout?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭oppiuy

    That's a good shout

To be fair it was mentioned on the view from the lane podcast as a rumour doing the rounds on social media.
I like the idea though, and for the media and figurehead jobs we could have Glenn hoddle working closely with Ben.

It’s a Hail Mary, but we need something to get these players playing to their potential, and if one of the living greatest players to put the shirt on, who has a high exposure in the modern media (Hoddle) and someone who has been in the dressing room since the Poch days (Davies), can’t get this team going- then we will end up in the championship for sure.

So you still think a different manager would have got a tune out of this team? Even after what we've witnessed for nearly 3 years now. I've got a bridge to sell you

There's a 20% chance that the new manager gets a tune out of this lot. Its not much and the odds are stacked against us. But this morning we had a 5% chance of survival so ill take 20% anyway.

Those two gimps Lange and Venkatesham seem to have their heart set on De Zerbie which would be Tudor part two. They need to be removed from their roles at the end of the season.

I would go with Ryan Mason who knows the players, knows their best positions and is well used to the Spurs setup maybe with someone like Hoddle as well.

The idea of Ryan Mason doing another stint as caretaker manager would have made my skin crawl only 6 months ago but hes a very logical choice at this juncture.

Frank being a terrible fit for the club is a separate issue to the players not being good enough. One doesn't excuse the other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 287 ✭✭tomo75

This says it all - instead of keeping his head down after messing up for 2 school boy goals - he is out having a pop at the manager..... had he not messed up - he wouldn't have been taken off..…idiot

Looks like it will be be De Zerbi. Bad choice imo, and that's regardless of his stance on Greenwood. Don't see any way that he'll turn things around, and don't imagine he'll lift the players up much. Plus he'll end up falling out with the board within a year or two (assuming he lasts that long…big if).

Exactly .... no way our snowflakes are gonna like him... They didnt like Conte and his outspoken views, and neither did "our" board ......

    Its a massive payout in waiting !! 5 yr contract ..... 🤷‍♂️

Not only that but speaks to the culture surrounding the club at the moment. It's ok seemingly to be having a pop at the departing interim manager rather than keeping the head down. Spurs have huge issues in their dressing room and this is not a good look.

The fact we have no one ready to appoint says it all.

so if it’s him , how long before the fans will be moaning to get him out?

Like i have said, it’s seems to be that no manager is good enough for us.

    Exactly it......

'Be the bigger man' ....... (by having a sly dig on insta) .. great for the brand...

An Unmanageable squad? it justs keeps showing us why ....

So we have 7 games to implement De zerbis playing style which as I understand it is: (from google)

Roberto De Zerbi’s playing style is defined by

a high-risk, possession-based approach that aims to "provoke" the opposition's press before playing through it

. Using a deep build-up with the goalkeeper acting as an extra defender, his teams (Brighton, Shakhtar, Marseille) use close, short passes to attract pressure

Sounds like an absolute disaster with the players we have.

Cant see this ending well. Behaved like a spoilt child at Brighton. If its a 5 year contract there will be a big payout, he won't last a year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,959 ✭✭✭celt262

A year 😂 he will be gone at end of season if he tries to implement his favourite playing style with some of our donkeys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,955 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

so not even hired and he is **** already..

Maybe we should be the only team without manager ever.

Where did I say he was ****?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,509 ✭✭✭mosstin

In fairness, given his volatility and the fact that it'll take a while to implement his playing style, it seems like another unnecessary gamble. Better surely to appoint him in the summer when he starts with a clean slate, no?

I thought we were at the stage of rolling the dice again as looks like we had little to lose ,its definitely a gamble with this guy if it happens. I don't see anything really changing unless we get new owners and people running the club who know something about football .Even if we stay up ,who would we really attract to really get us back up the table to compete .
