I could be wrong, but it looked like he ended up throwing the ball into the net and that’s why the advantage was pulled back.

Great response to the red so far. A frustrating game to watch though with all the frees.

Battling away as best we can, 1 up with 10 to go

That should’ve been another red card for the frontal challenge. Discipline poor.

Disappointing. The red card cost them amd lost too many ruck ball towards the end. Tipp weren’t great and were there for the taking.

We battled really well but coudn't hold on. We showed for a lot that we were actually better but the sending off really cost us as we all knew it would. I assumed Tipp would run out easy winners after half time but we responded really well. Shocking ref decisions blowing for everything. He didn't seem to blow for steps at all which I thought one Tipp player kept doing. Didn't get his name, he was good but took way too many steps non stop. Lucky that we didn't get another red card tho. We actually played better overall and I'd fancy us when and if we play them again.

We play Clare next on wednesday, at home and they beat Waterford tonight.

You kind of have to be happy with the performance. Away to a fancied Tip team, played the second half against the breeze and with 14 and were winning going into the final few minutes.

Our defence, once they settled, played well and got stuck in. Barry got the vast majority of our scores - that needs addressing. Scores need to come from more players. Thought there was contact with the hurley for the goal that wasn't given but need to see a replay and their goal had a fair smack of luck too. Bring on Limerick, then Waterford before finishing at home to Clare and we will hopefully have 3 wins from 4.

Stefan Tobin I imagine? Scored 5 or 6 from play, by a mile our best player on the night.

Hopefully that link works....looks like the Tipp people have us beaten already.

Tipp people or 1 pundit looking for headlines?

Cork football team is unchanged for Meath. Be great to lift silverware after a great season!

It's great to see both Cork and Meath showing signs of recovery again. It may only be the Division Two final but don't underestimate what winning a winning a trophy in Croke Park will do for this teams confidence levels. We did beat Monaghan to win the second division title in 2009 under Conor Counihan and proceeded to go from strength to strength afterwards.

Considering the way the last thirteen years or fourteen years have worked out it's difficult to be overly critical of Counihan, but we probably should have won at least one more all Ireland during his tenure as manager in either 2009 or 2012 imo.

Should have won the 2009 final. Im more scarred by that final than any in either code

Struggling on kickouts, ours and theirs but have turned Meath over a good few times. Oh Jones after missing two great goal chances

leading at ht. Some sloppy kickouts but they can say the same. Sherlock doing what he does but we've let a couple of goals after us.

    Finally Jones gets his goal

The referee is absolutely shocking, giving us nothing

Very disappointing. Another loss in a final for a Cork team. For some reason we are very weak mentally as a county in both codes. Wonder how it can be turned around

They really should have taken a point near the end instead of 3 minutes searching a 2 point opportunity.

Midfield cleaned out in second half, 15 mins without a score was too long, can't win games without scoring for that length of time. Keeper a worry too, some awful kickouts.

In the league game against Meath in Pairc Ui Rinn I thought Cork were a bit lucky to win. Today proves that we are a bit behind Meath.

We beat them in the league, topped the table and were only a kick away today. Today doesn't really prove that at all. Jones could have had a hat trick today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

Ref did his best to ride us there. Fantastic performance given the circumstances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,030 ✭✭✭Plastik

I agree. Whatever about the ref, it was very poor game management at the end not to pull the trigger on 1pt and reset. There would've been plenty time left to go searching for an equaliser or winning PT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,416 ✭✭✭lukin

We only finished above Meath because we beat them in that game in Cork. But their scoring difference was superior to ours; plus 33, Cork's was plus 5.

Know where you’re coming from but 2007 done damage. Was a bit calamitous.

I think it’s many of the same old things that held us back today. Kick outs (the kicks themselves and winning of them) plus the shooting.

There was some beautiful plays today for the goals and a few of the points but we’re generally quite mediocre against a set defense. It’s pretty damming that we have very limited options shooting from range (not even necessarily 2-pointers). Imagine we’re not the most difficult team to plan for.

Kerry getting ripped apart was nice to see, doesn't happen often. Looking forward to Munster in both codes for a change.

It's hard to be overly critical of the players and management, the primary objective of promotion to Division One of the league was achieved after all.

It's disappointing to just fade away and concede the last eight scores of the game though. That will need to be looked out.

Well done to Meath anyway but anything less than a right cut off Kerry and a quarter final appearance in the championship would be very disappointing indeed.
