How to get these white stain patches off concrete

Hi Folks,

What's the best and easiest way to remove these? An external painter said it's not paint but stain marks left from the sheet protector. The painter was painting the walks and left the sheet covers down on the ground and thus is the result.

Oh no no, that's not paint… Hey, look over there at that squirrel…

It looks like it's run-off from a wet painters sheet. Did you try wash it down? A power-hose will make light work of it anyway.

No, it'll stain the concrete white. Yours is staining residue from paint going through sheet its water based so should come off with washing up liquid mixed with water.

It can be water based, but its only water soluble while wet, otherwise it would wash off the wall in a shower! It actually dries by allowing the water contained within it to evaporate away, leaving the acrylic behind to "coalescence" into a waterproof film.

Its a bit like if you leave mayonnaise out- the water dries off and you're left with a semi-translucient oily blob!

I've scrubbed water based paint off concrete loads of times soapy water works with scrubbing brush. I doubt you scrub the paint off wall in shower and I've never seen paint inside a shower enclosure only tiles.

Alright, mark it down as one to try, but if its anyway a decent formula of masonry paint, its not coming off!

Thanks for the comments So there's no way of getting the stains off? As mentioned I don't have a power washer. The paint he used was dulex emulsion weathershield. The painter has now informed me the stains are from a wire brush and not paint.

if its from a wire brush then its not a stain it just a clean part. only options are to clean the rest or dirty the clean bits

Try run sodium hypochlorite (concrete and stone cleaner) over it at the recommended concentration and then work it with a brush, then hose off.

Ok so it was cleaned up and a wire brush was used so it scratched the concrete, yeah you just have to wait till concrete gets dirty and it'll blend in...eventually
