    Yeah, it's bad alright.

I was pretty worried immediately when he won in 24. The level at which he was allowed to behave as he did in his first term and the fact that he has always been vindictive bothered me. The extent at which he surrounded himself by absolute loyalists was also a red flag of where things would get.

And it isn't over yet. Not by a long shot. Does anyone have faith that the midterms later this year are going to proceed without "influence"? I can't say I do.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Unfortunately Americans aren’t widely familiar with the word “b0ll0x” so it just wouldn’t have the same impact as it would over here.

Do you think him getting shot, surviving it etc has made Trump feel invincible? And God saved him for a reason etc etc. Made him think in “legacy” terms. That seems to be the vibe Trump has had since me anyway.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Well insert your favourite US alternative and you're good to go…

I find it very very hard to not go all conspiracy theory about that shooting. There was just so much around it that was off. Particularly the secret service allowing him to stand up and raise his fist for the cameras as he did. That and the self-regenerating ear cartilage that healed without scarring.

I'm not saying it was fake, it was just…..weird.

But to answer your question, I think his ego has been such that surviving such an event could not elevate it any more. He already thought he was everything that such an event might lead some people to think about themselves. And mind anyone to think in that way would have some form of narcissism tendencies anyway.

I think he stayed on the scene after 2020 precisely to do as much as possible to benefit himself. Whether influencing criminal investigations in to him. Profiting because of grifting opportunities. Seeking revenge on those who had "wronged" him. And he has succeeded. The very best those of us who dislike him can hope for is that he gets his wings clipped in the midterms and then he departs the scene (if you know what I mean) before his term ends.

With all that money why bother driving at all? One crash should have been more than enough to hire a limo service or chauffeur.

Folks - I need to thank you for the insightful (sometimes, amusing) comments that you post. What DJT says and does often scares the **** out of me.

A cartoon stolen from an issue of Private Eye of 12 years ago. The title should read "DJT comes down from the mountain with his tablets of stone."

    Chosen people.jpg

Sadly, the "cut off the ends" does seem to apply to USA society.

Watched that Storyville Documentary that won the awards last night , Mr Nobody Against Putin .

Schools being used to spread propaganda via special classes , announcements, role play , and children being indoctrinated and enrolled in what appears to be a version of Hitler's Youth ..Putin's Yunarmia .

All of the accolades and Cult of Trump is starting to.look very similar to what has been happening in Russia .

    Unmistakeable dictatorship

^^^ President Trump is a more ruthless reckless Dictator than General Augusto Pinochet 1973 - 1998 regime in Chile.

Reluctantly I'll credit Pinochet with trying to improve the Chilean Economy in rather brutal fashion murdured dissidents as well as torture and kidnap while also exploiting a frail Pop John Paul II for photo shoots when the pope visited Chile ( he employed a Team of US Consultants called "The Chicago Boys" to advise him )

Trump does'nt care what the fallout will be and the trail of distruction is going to be. Not one bit

    No. Me neither .

The whole ID thing is just a forerunner , next is stopping voting in Blue States because of " trouble " with Feds stepping in to " control the situation " as in the ICE debacles we have already seen .

While people are distracted with the war there are MAGA plans afoot to subvert these elections

Ah so Trump is a genius we are meant to think ?

The" long game" as described is also affecting the US people and their allies negatively and that will be' the long game " we all remember .

    Not very reliable though

strongly align with conservative, traditional, or right-wing thought and/or policy agendas. A Right bias is the most conservative rating on the political spectrum

The Intercept, The Guardian, and The New Republic have described Atlas Network as having ties to conservative movements, including the administration of Donald Trump in the United States, Brexit in the United Kingdom, and anti-government protests in Latin America.

TBH comments on the facebook page tell me all I need to know about them 😉

Potential whistleblowers on his shenanigans maybe...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,667 ✭✭✭amacca

Not a braincell between them...the poor deluded fools

I'd have pity for them if they weren't enabling such a cancerous destructive administration.....an administration that will probably leave them and their kids much worse off in the long run....

The greatest irony being Trump probably wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire but would be happy to not pay them if they worked for him or swindle them out of all they had......

    Humans eh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,667 ✭✭✭amacca

Also if that is even partially the intent its poking China and backing them into a corner...so they might have to come out swinging

Much better to compete with them on resources deals etc etc.....do business with everyone rather than pick a fight and become isolationist

    This timeline keeps getting weirder.

A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to protect former first lady Jill Biden accidentally shot himself in the leg at Philadelphia International Airport on Friday, authorities said.

is the US not constantly recruiting for the army . And is there such a thing a voluntary draft as against ‘enforced’ draft..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭Field east

I would assume that when people voted for Trump the second time around that they were of the clear opinion that he would”d be controlled by all the checks and balances processes out there . And that Congress and the SCOTUS would live up to their principals . BUT OF COURSE this did not happen. So we are where we are. It is the only reason that I can think of as to why those who voted for Trump did so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,667 ✭✭✭amacca

I always understood a draft to be non-voluntary

Except of course if you are wealthy and can get a doctor to say you are exempted ...for let's say oh I don't know...bone spurs....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,667 ✭✭✭amacca

I can think of another reason....a sizeable proportion of them are braindead morons....you only have to listen to some of the vox pops at the rallies etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,133 ✭✭✭Widdensushi

You can enlist at any time, draft is only used when you can't get enough volunteers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,883 ✭✭✭✭8-10

People who go to rallies are a tiny proportion

Many millions voted for him for a wide variety of reasons. Not liking the opponent was enough in some cases. Others could be single issue voters who don't care at all about his foreign policy they just want abortion to be banned (or whatever their issue is). Others will have just gone simply on having done financially better personally in his first term than under Biden. And others will have just been of the opinion that Biden was not competent and blame people like Harris for not speaking up so couldn't vote for her. Others will have made the decision purely because she's a woman. Others get their news from Fox (the most watched in the country) or live somewhere super red (or somewhere blue that isn't doing well)

I'm not saying these are necessarily valid. But I'm saying that we have this perception that all his voters wear red Maga caps and turn up at rallies when the reality of it is much much more nuanced and there's people you'd likely get on with and think are completely normal that voted for him

Perhaps...I think in the fullness of time there's a distinct possibility many of those people won't be willing to admit they voted for Trump

I suspect I might get on with some if things stayed on a surface level...…I suspect there are many more I'd have a hard time listening to whether they attend rallies or not.......there can't be a lot of critical thought going on if you vote the orange cretin in for a second time regardless of whether you attend rallies or not....

I've heard other vox pops from cities like Houston etc where those interviewed were not at rallies and judging by the childlike shiny bauble reasoning (or none at all just blind devotion) across a wide range if ages I came away with conclusion they were half wits .. one and all

(Now perhaps the interviewers seek out areas with a high proportion of support for maga and the most obvious proponents they can get for the entertainment value - but having lived over there I'm not so sure the country or at least certain parts of it isn't gripped in a moron epidemic)

I don't believe that . Think it was his plan perhaps but imo Putin has out played him . And easily .
