Can't match the pace the Bulls have. Can score from anywhere.

The last few weeks we could have glued the ball to our hands and we'd still be constantly knocking on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,577 ✭✭✭budhabob

The heat is unreal, 35+ degrees with altitude....and then there's pace.

Munster need to push for another try and ideally 2 LBPs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭joedamuss

Can't defend against pace like that, we're giving them these opportunities by silly mistakes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

Munster have played better but the self inflicted self destruct tendency always there.

Wouldnt back them to manage the 4th and leave with a point.

Very frustrating as elements are much better but there are some absolutely terminal elements always popping up.

What is mossy Lawlor's remit as a skills coach…full time position but basic skills deficiency have cost 2 tries already.

Great try by BOC, Crowley's bravery to hold the ball and offload has set up 2 of our trys

Class by Crowley there for the pass to O'Connor

Crowley has been really, really good today

    Jack was great in that.

Id like to see Craig next up as capt. Liking the gentle pressure on the ref. Intelligent

Ya, Craig doing well communicating with the Ref.

    We've woken up it seems

Yes, 2 minutes to go and we have a chance at winning. For me he's really the difference, hanrahan last week was a disaster,

He obviously needs further work on his place kicking or else stand aside and let somebody else take the kicks though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,577 ✭✭✭budhabob

Fair play lads, serious character, good return....and we could genuinely have won

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,493 ✭✭✭P.Walnuts

He's picking some really intelligent passes and varied with a nice kick in behind too.

    Playing with real confidence.

Very proud of that performance, Jack and Craig made a huge difference, Edwin Edogbo very impressive off the bench.

2 pts is a good return. We did some things really well but we gifted bulls an awful lot of pts.

Jack and Craig were very good but Jack has got to start nailing his kicks.

Really liked Craig as Capt. Maybe a summer swap.

Nank should be very disappointed with his defensive efforts. Not like him.

I like Ben. Give him more time.

Jj shouldn't be getting a game. He adds nothing. No control. Poor kicks. Poor tackler. Slow. Invest in someone who could get to where we need.

In a match we lost Crowley could have been MotM, not flawless but was really very good. Casey too.

2 points from a game in that heat and altitude after the performance last week is very welcome

I think Nortje & Bulls were very lucky that thd YC remained a YC today and I think Bulls were blessed that the slap down was only deemed a penalty, at the very least it deserved a review. For me, its a card and a review to check should a PT be awarded

Both halfbacks had very good games. Casey is turning into a fine captain and Crowley was defensively great and lovely stuff going forward also. Couple of loose kicks aside.

We're far too inconsistent, handling errors that weren't happening at the start of the season - think the Leinster match - have really crept in.

Both Edogbos and Kendellen went well. SOB on the wing was good too I thought. Would prefer to see them starting than the likes of Wycherley, JOD at this stage. Let's just back the youth.

Bulls have a couple of young lads with ridiculous pace, three of their tries kind of came out of nowhere.

2 points was probably the minimum from both games so not a bad trip down there all things considered in the cold light of day in terms of points on the board

Yeah, hopefully he can sort out his place kicking sooner than later, he has been having some right mares lately

Fineen is a really important player for us, good lineout caller / leader, we do worse when he isn't playing. He's a vital cog for us and seems really underappreciated by Munster fans

Agree completely & is crucial esp during the international windows.

I've no stats for this but to me he has reduced his error count this season v previous years albeit he still prevelant to the odd brain part.

He put in some great shifts at the start of the season scarlets & edinburgh iirc.

He is contracted to end of next season

Much better performance than last week, and yet they'll still be a little disappointed...they could have won that game.

Thought Crowley and Casey looked re-envigorated, really good performances. Is it just me or does captaincy actually suit Casey in the sense that it kinda tempers his occasional headlessness? Like, he's actually really good in the role, he's excellent with the refs, but he seems to play better too. Or am I reading too much into it? Maybe it's a confidence thing and he's just less likely to force things, but either way, he looked better today than he has in while.

The younger guys really showed up I thought. Wasn't perfect, but you could easily see sticking with them and building some coherence paying off quickly.

Though Edogbo was a menace when he came on, if he can become an 80 minute player he'll be phenomenal.

The commentary mentioned he's in the top 8 tacklers so far this season in the URC (I think it was that metric anyway).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,794 ✭✭✭50HX

Didnt see the game today so can't add anything other than 2points against a formidable Bulls side is no mean feat so kudos to the group for that

Hopefully it stops the rot since the second half of Stormers at home & gives us the kick on we usually get cone this stage in the season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 27,316 ✭✭✭✭phog

We played reasonably well but coughed up some easy scores too, the one where Papier broke from the back of a maul to go untouched under the posts was particularly soft.

The bounce of a ball that took it away from Kelly meant he knocked on rather than grab it for a try under the posts. Nash getting concussed early in the first half with only two backs on the bench didn't help our cause in that heat either.

As I said above Jack & Craig had really good games too which made a huge difference from how we played last week

The two points were very much welcome but equally, we could have been coming home with 5.

Similar, with work didn't see it,had no expectations with altitude, heat etc, massive result, hopefully they can kick on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,577 ✭✭✭budhabob

It was a great result, the heat compounded energy levels when bulls came at massive pace.

We have a significant weakness at backup 10 - we're all aware of TH issues, but OH is really impacting us.

True, I was in favour of JJ signing for us but his errors are a weight we can't carry at the moment.
