Aren't domestic cattle usually responsible for more deaths than wild animals?

Population density profiles of selected cities, represented by distance from the city centre outwards in 2 km intervals.

I would imagine Dublin's density profile (not on this chart) would be similar to that of Glasgow.

And that was seriously out of date from an irish point if view - Adrahan cheese closed 10 -15 years ago, and cahils unfortunately disappeared 3 or 4 years ago , and no mention of prob the biggest/ most well known irish farmhouse cheese cashel blue .

Seems a bit dubious. How do they judge dangerous? In Alaska Polar bears are way more deadly than grizzly as they actively hunt humans when they smell them. Saltwater crocs in Florida are way more aggressive than skittish aligators.

And there are many neighbouring states that have the same set of predators, but one state has a different most dangerous than another.

It might be to do with their success. Just because they hunt humans or are aggressive towards them, doesn't mean they have been successful in their endeavours.

Irish often puts the definite article before proper nouns where English doesn't. (As does other languages)

The resilience of the Irish Red Squirrel!

Although apparently a healthy population of Pine Martins in Ireland are part of the reason. They prey on Squirrels and the Grey Squirrel is not as agile as the Red. So the Greys get eaten up while the Reds live to fight another day.

It's not even that they prey directly on them AFAIK. the greys typically would spend more time on the ground than reds and would be scared back up into the trees more, and don't fatten up as much and their breeding condition suffers.

One concern I've heard of is that urban centres could provide a refuge for them - as pine martens won't follow them in there; and that they could evolve coping mechanisms to deal with the martens and thus spread back out into the country.

In the last ten or fifteen years they have been seen a lot more where I’m from in South Donegal, makes you wonder about how resilient they are to have have bee able to hold on in very low numbers to be able to make a comeback.

I'm from a non squirrel area according to that map but I can confirm I've often seen red squirrels outside my house.

Also the inbreeding within the grey squirrels in Ireland brought them health issues. The ones released in Longford all came from one dray.

that vastly exaggerates the gradient of the cliffs, no?

this is a photo of croaghaun, it doesn't seem as near to vertical as that graphic suggests.
