Don't insult crackheads by comparing them with Trump's regime; at least crackheads have thought through their plan for 5 minutes and can execute it without making up conversations and needing prayers for success…

Well yes I guess , and they tend to attack derelict buildings rather than ones in use … so apologies to crackheads.

Seen as he likes to take credit for the Dow

386 days to hit the high, average of 15pts per day

45 days since then, losing an average of 122pts per day

And almost back to where he started, and as others have said, in real terms a loss.

Way to go Donnie the master of financial acumen

I'd double check your own pension because odds are you're affected too

MAGA Crowd Embarrassingly Cheers for Trump Impeachment

    AWKWARD!

The president’s die-hard fans took a while to understand the question.

    What can I say?

Good post, but Trump 2 is worse than my wildest imagination could have conceived of.

Dow closes in correction, S&P logs longest weekly losing streak in four years and oil settles at Iran-war highs

    Headline as per CNN!

He'll have to start talking about the Epstein allegations to take the heat off. Sure as **** knows his MAGA crowd care more about gas prices than rape.

Oh, we probably all are. Trump has caused global price rises, and annoyed almost the entire planet.

However American pensions are usuallly tied up in 401K funds, directly invested in stocks and that makes American voters (esp retirees) much more attuned to the DOW etc than we are here in Ireland.

Also Trump definitely doesn't care about me, but he might be a bit concerned about American voters, and his narcissism means that he does care about polls (and what people think of him). He quotes polls often enough

This is a person who hates everyone but may not show it if they are useful to him in the moment.

No. Redeeming. Characteristics. Other than hating the people you hate in which case see previous line.

Price the DOW in Euros or Swiss Franc and it hasn't grown.

Edit as @Capt'n Midnight got there before me with the no growth Dow.

There are some things more important than money, like staying out of prison.

Is there really that much about his second term so surprising that not even your wildest imagination could have conceived of it? To me, it seems a lot like his first term except this time he has surrounded himself with an organised group of enablers that pledge personal loyalty rather than to the US constitution, so the shackles have been largely removed.

And it's not like no-one could have seen that coming. Those Heritage Foundation creeps wrote a MASSIVE BOOK outlining their plans for a second Trump term.

You could probably go through the multitudinous outrages of the 2nd Trump term and find an equivalent in the first that was dialled down by advisors who had at least some scruples and a system that just about held.

Hitler was a runner during WWI and was gassed. Even though the Nazis had gas he didn't use it because he feared the retaliation in kind.

A West German counter terrorism office wrote a book called IIRC "Shoot the women first" because he felt that men were more likely to have been in fights and knowing what pain was would be more likely to hold back.

Trump likes to punch down and has no empathy for his victims. The only question is did the Israelis acquire the blackmail media from the Russians , or visa versa , or do both have different incriminating evidence ?

The plan backfired when Ukraine disabled half of Russia's export facilities.

So what will Trump do now to benefit Russia ?

Apart from diverting more already paid for arms exports to Ukraine to the middle east.

Have said it before, the speed and scope of the betrayal of Ukraine and Europeans (not to mention some other allies - Canada) and crawling up Putin's backside has surprised me, but as you said the guardrails from term 1 are missing now.

The President and his appointees to cabinet seem to have a huge amount of power to personally steer all aspects of US foreign policy incl. war and peace and the countries the US views as enemies to be undermined and attacked or allies to be supported.

Was just about to come in here to say this after seeing a video from RTE's Jackie Fox talking about it.

    Good grief.

The 'Unitary Theory of Executive Power' was talked a lot about in the run-up to the 2024 election but people didn't seem to be paying attention. It's the idea that the executive branch of the US government should be directly under the president's control including all of the various departments and administrations as opposed to being delegated power to go and do their own thing. It's something that the second Trump administration has been very purposeful about doing, firing old department heads and replacing them with ardent Trump loyalists. It seems that when you gut the US Executive of those loyal to the US constitution and instead loyal to you, you create quite a potent instrument of personal power.

As ever with Trump, he can get away with this because the only real guard rail against it was a sense of duty, justice and adherence to tradition, but he doesn't give a fck about those, so here we are.

Try not to listen to or watch him but that seems pretty Freudian.

It does seem to reflect his way of thinking and expressing himself.

    Perhaps "in bello veritas"?

I suppose there are similarities both plantations tied together by religion. Pilgrims etc. Personally I don’t mind religious people as long as they don’t tell me what to. But I am very skeptical of Americans who go through their “found God” phase. And use it sanctimoniously. JD Vance is one of those. And will likely be next President as well.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

And will likely be next President as well.

Who knows with America but this is silly. Republicans are going to get decimated in November. Trump would struggle to get re-elected at the moment and he's a cult leader. Vance is just some stupid acolyte who won't draw anything like the same bizarre devotion.

It is not "likely" at all.
