    Need a liquid lunch

IF we win tonight god knows how nervy Tuesday will be

Don't have a good feeling about tonight, we could easily **** the bed and lose to a 'mediocre team' who won't get passed Denmark

Personally I do hope the supporters find John Delaney skulking around Prague somewhere, take him to a pub, strip him, piss on him, til he bloody well rots, then make a quick getaway.

yeah we will really shake them up when we skirt through in the play offs for the world cup having not qualified.

    Absolutely this

I was only thinking yesterday when I started playing and enjoying soccer. I hung around with friends who were mad for it but only got into it myself during 1990 World Cup. That’s all you need, is the right time and moment and you can be hooked.

id love to see Ireland qualify moreso for my kids to experience that fun then anything else. Who cares about being overly optimistic (I’m a pessimist at heart and wish I could be more optimistic), in many ways, particularly in sport , it’s a great way to be and is part of the hopes and dreams that makes sport so unique.

It might have played a part for some but the WC is a different kettle of fish. There's just a different vibe amongst people when it comes to the WC and the Euros. I do think how the campaign went playerd the biggest part.

We started like a house on fire and people likely dreamed of finally qualifying for a WC. Only for that dream to fade away and we nicked a playoff at the end against tough opposition. It dampened the mood a little.

Compared to this campaign when we looked to be on course to finish last with 1pts after three games, and then winning three on the bounce with a 96th minute winner. Probably can't remember the last time we actually won three consecutive qualifying games.

the Czechs recalling a midfielder after 4 years and putting him straight in the XI while dropping another midfielder with 17 goals is fairly wild stuff.

They're still in debt and we still need lots of investment in coaching and facilities.

Qualifying for two tournaments in a row would be huge.

I'm hoping the FAI has turned a corner and is in a better place but I've no idea really.

Out under 17s beat Poland 3-0 yesterday and then well in last tournament so there's definitely talent coming.

The LOI has never been better and is still growing.

Ireland for the win tonight 2-0. Never in doubt

"Czech Republic v Ireland live updates: Vale in contention to start; Irish fans descend on Prague…"

That's from the Irish Times live blog.

Living off the Govt tit for a few years now, it's what Del Boy always wanted for the Govt to finance soccer and FAI would raise private finance/sponsorship to add on top, for him and the lads, he nearly got his wish.

Miguel Delaney suggested this during the week. Ogbene can't be overly fit and Szmodics ain't in form, I could totally see it.

I just wonder if the IT have gotten a tip off.

I don't feel nervous about this game for some reason.

After the Armenia away game, it looked impossible to even make the playoffs. It was such a wild ride after that. I've never been through a four days like that Portugal - Hungry stretch... I think I speak for a lot of people when I say the Parrot winner was the pinnacle of my football watching life.

So, I don't want to be too nervous about it. With a bit of luck and a good performance we might do it. Though, if I'm being honest I'd say the Czechs at home will probably take it.

International football when its not going well feels like a complete waste of time but when things turn they absolutely turn.

Ireland 2.0, comfortable win. If I was picking a World X1 today for this match I would have Kelleher, Coleman and Parrot in it

when I heard on the radio earlier that the Czechs are unbeaten at home in 28 games I felt deflated and wished I hadn’t heard it.

Two of those wins were 1-0 against San Marino and 2-1 against Faroe Islands so not exactly a juggernaut.

    It's not true anyway.

    It's a 16 game unbeaten streak.

Lads behave yourself tonight now I want to enjoy the match.

Nerves were genuinely awful last night. Could barely sleep and had multiple dreams about the game with a very broken sleep. Busy day in work has made the day to fast thankfully but just about to head out to the pub now. I think we're going to do it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,091 ✭✭✭dasdog

I'm not nervous at all right now - treating this as bonus territory it was so unexpected and I'm already scarred by most of our playoffs since 1995.

But if we are still in with a chance late in the game or in extra time I will be a can barely look wreck. Can't predict it at all it really depends on what version of Ireland turns up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,771 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

This Czech side lost to Faroe Island last year. They are no great shakes and there is a bit of turmoil in Czech football currently.

I think there is scope here to get stuck into them and let the doubt creep into their fans who haven't exactly been 100% behind the team.

3/1 seems a massive price for us tonight.

Have the kids doing laps in the back garden to try tire them out so they go down quick tonight.

    COYBIG!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,679 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

    That sounds like both teams.

Could be that one or the other or both or none could show up

anyone know how strict the id checks are when trying to get into the home fans section? Are they actually checking passports or is it fine if you’re not head to toe in green?
