I saw that a bit my tongue, they are getting ahead of themselves. I assume RTÉ plan to send them to Mexico, USA and Canada for the WC if we qualify.

Liveline! What does that need to be there?

All the best to the boy's in green but … beware of the "suppoRTErs"

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

To broadcast the issues of the Nation, from a pub called the Irish Times in Prague.

Adrian Eames and Kenny Cunningham going tomorrow…… probably the radio commentary team.

Are the RnaG and the Irish Language News Now commentators going over also?

Not sure but Shamrock Rovers supporter Samantha Libreri has been added to the travelling squad, talking with fans on the 9 o'clock news. Paul O'Flynn must have clocked out after 6.00pm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Their Eastern Correspondent for Eastern Europe!

Do RTÉ not see this as a problem? How this looks to viewers? The WC weather Ireland gets there or not will be huge, so hopefully RTÉ can spend in other areas.

Perhaps not as a fan as Sport or of RTÉ, I see things differently, but can any fan of sport really support RTÉ's spend on this?

Relatively cheap to send Samantha to Prague when compared with her month ‘working’ in Australia for the women’s World Cup a couple of years ago.

was this (cheap e homes) an hour last series? Deffo not an hour of content here. Didn’t need to see the bit about board games etc.

    very rural properties, seems madness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Yes it was an hour last series, I think the series before that was just 30mins. As I said : -

Cheap European Homes returns to RTÉ ONE on Sunday. My man likes this show and the Irish version, but she asked me "who's this guy?" anytime I was over with my parents.

Who is he? ….He's a comedian….Oh! …. Why is he on it? …. Some light relief …. really? … yeah I guess? (And yes I am like this in real life) … RTÉ probably are trying to increase their funding to independent productions so they as to stretch it over an hour and gave money for an extra presenter…. ah would ya ever shut up …. but really why?… what's his point, who is he?

So I will be over on Sunday … it will be interesting to see how she feels with a Third presenter!

They are alternating the side kick each week.

No input from Cahill or Cuddihy yet that I heard….probably will come to life in the Irish Time Bar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Cuddihy has arrived prehaps RTÉ got free flights from the Czechiazian Tourist Board.

Des Cahill and Darragh Moloney being promoted as guests on Inside Sport which is live from Prague at 6.00pm.

I reckon you could pick a full strength team from the number of RTE staff who have pitched up in Prague at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,272 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

I’d say Moloney is doing the tv commentary, Cahill is just there for ‘de partie’ I would imagine.

    Any more ‘super liggers’ spotted?

    Dear all,

As a thank you to the Sports Department I am sending you on a trip to the World Cup Qualifiers in Prague.

This is a special occasion potentially the biggest world cup since 2002.

But also this year marks 100 years of RTÉ and it has very proud history of covering the games. Obviously it also comes after 3 hard years of things that shouldn't have happened, but we've moved passed that and have a strong mandate than every before.

The itineraries are based on best practice and provide much need relief for all of our staff.

    1. You will fly first class with Aer Lingus, you will get champers mid-flight along with a dinner prepared by the in flight chef Mark Moriarty, he'll also be filming a new show while in Prague.
    2. Your special in flight host will be Authur Gourounlian, who also film a travel show later on with his family.
    3. Pete Wedderburn will be there to take care of you pets as he gets filming Pets on a Plane with Pete in Prague.
    4. Dr Nina Byrnes will be on hand should you be feeling ill, she will also be at the hotel, a new series "Why you need Travel Insurance?"
    5. In hotel entertainment includes Betting with Tracy, as Tracy Piggott will also return to take a look a back at RTÉ sport.
    6. On Thursday night you'll get corporate tickets to the game.
    7. Friday you can rest in the spa as Kathryn Thomas will be there from Wellness Retreats, her new show will also be recorded. "Why being fat is good for you"
    8. You'll fly back on Saturday

We hope that this will be an excellent day for Ireland and that we get to the final play off. The WC2026 Itinerary will be provided shortly.

    See you there.

    Kind regards,

KB4, DG, all round good guy.

Can we assume you will FOIing the financial details of this extravananza?

Outside of news and sport you'll be told, without any details provided, that the sponsorship with Cadbury (Mondelez) will cover the costs.

This will probably not cover the Per Diem payments and days in lieu for travel costs which will accrue for this mob.

No politician in the Oireachtas committees will query this and try to get to the actual costs to the company of this giant exodus because they are mostly lazy and thick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,011 ✭✭✭Dublin Calling

My assumption is Mondelez are only sponsoring LiveLine's broadcast from a pub in Prague. 'Sponsorship' could mean any amount of money. It could 500 euro for all we know. It is not just the cost of shipping a whole production team out to Prague. There are extra costs in having another team 'standing in' back in Montrose.

They won't be flying in posh seats on Aer Lingus anyway, except for transatlantic it's been all-economy for over 20 years now

    I'm partial to your abracadabra

Kieran has been plugging the Irish Times bar in Prague for the last couple of weeks. When they got there the LiveLine team was shafted, and had to setup in a local restaurant. RTE probably wanted too much space, space what is currently packed with hard drinking punters.

    Dear All,

Sorry, to have to say we've had to cancel the trip to the world cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Maybe the next DG will be able to send you to

Until then sing it with me.
