Yes, if people want to start a separate HBO Max thread by all means do so, but it’s off topic for this thread really.

Great to hear the legendary George Hamilton again, doing commentary for Celtic v Stuttgart on Premier tonight.

He must be a good age now. I remember when he was with BBCNI.

NowTV. The EPG for TNT 1, doesn't mention the Man City game, even though it's on!

Premier sports PL game for Sat 21 Mar will be Fulham v Burnley, because it's the only 3pm game that day. The week before, on the other hand is still up for grabs. If Palace do not get through the Conference play-off tonight then :-

Palace v Leeds will be the pick for sure. But if Palace are succesful tonight, then there is only:-

    Burnley v Bournemouth and

Sunderland v Brighton to choose from.

So it's confirmed now as Sunderland v Brighton

Are premier not showing any of the Leinster schools senior or junior cup? Thought they showed them last year

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,870 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

It is gone to Leinster Rugby Plus now, I think.

One of the promo cards on Premier RoI site shows Bilbao v Barcelona on Premier 2 Sun 15:15. Casual fans of La Liga, will be dissapointed to find out it's Getafe v Betis!

And they completely forgot about Atleti v Sociedad on 7th 17:30 - that is until today, where it was huridley added. Now if you are the exclusive holder of TV rights - how do you not not know what the schedule is. Image if Sky forgot what Premier League games they were showing, or listed the wrong game!

On a seperate, but releated subject on the Premiere UK site, for the 17th and 18th of March, there is an Argentine Premier League, and Brazil Serie A game respectively; (both at 22:00), which someone at Premier, will need to remember to move them to Premiere 2, otherwise viewers in RoI will not see them. Premier 1 RoI show Champions League on both of these nights, and given they are the 2nd leg, if they were to run to extra time - there would be a crash, or they would not be shown at all. There are NHL games, listed for Premier 2 for both nights, but these don't start 'till 23:00, so they would fit better on Premier 1.

As a follow up to my earlier post, the promo card on the RoI site, is now gone, and the Argentine Primera game on the 17th has been dropped altogether.

As a matter of fact, quite a number of previously announced Argentine games have also been dropped from live coverage:-

8 Mar 22:15 Central Cordoba v Boca Juniors (Prem 1)

    9 Mar 00:15 River Plate v Tucuman (Prem 2)

11 Mar 20:30 Argentine Juniors v Rosario Central (Prem 2)

    17 Mar 22:00 Lanus v Newell's Old Boys (Prem 1 UK)

For some unknown reason Premier have swapped channels for the early Saturday games. Until yesterday, they had the URC game on 1 with the La Liga game on 2. The URC game would have been well over in time for the Premier League game in RoI. But now; some bright spark, at Premier has decided to switch them around, meaning that the La Liga game will only go out on Premier 1 UK. I think you really need a special IQ to work in the scheduling department at Premier!

RXTV article from a couple of weeks ago surmising that the Champions League could yet remain on TNT despite them losing the rights to Paramount. If the Paramount takeover of WBD is approved, it's logical to think that TNT may keep these rights.

All just the authors own views/analysis, nothing announced nor is likely to be announced on that front until nearer the start date of the new contract period.

Also, anything could happen to derail the Paramount/WBD deal, up until the moment it goes unconditional.

TNT have picked their Premier League games until end of April. This brings their total picks to 50, which means they have only two picks left for May, which has 3 rounds + the final round on May 24! So obviously Sky have all of round 38 games, so TNT will have to drop one of the week-ends for rounds 35-37. Not sure if Premier have round 38 games this year, as the details of the contract, where not made public. In previous years they had 32 Saturday games + one from the final round. So maybe now they just have the 32 Saturday picks.

Sky of course have 28 games to show in May, that's all of round 38 (10), a mid-week game between Man City v Palace (TBC), and any mid-week games, re-arranged as a result of the FA Cup S-F, and Final. This still means; that for the three other rounds (35-37) in May, they have a least 5 games per round.

I think that if it came to having to choose either Sky Sports or TNT for economic reasons I would ditch TNT , it is mainly football I want and for what we potentially have to pay we don’t get enough from them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 342 ✭✭TonyK45

They do have Champions League and Europa League for another season, but I tend to agree, only it's included with the Sports Xtra pack, it just doesn't justify the cost. And if TNT where to drop off Sports Xtra pack, then I would definitely cancel - there's nothing on Premier that I would miss.

Agreed. It would be as bad as Eir thinking they could charge the same price for their sports package after they lost the BT Sports wholesale rights to Sky.

Premier Sport have not announced their Premier League picks for April yet, and of course in reality they couldn't with, uncertainty around Europa and Conference league games. But now that is out of the way; it leaves them, with only two choices, for the 11th and 18th April.

11 Apr Brentford v Everton or Burnley v Brighton - my guess is the former.

18 Apr Leeds v Wolves or Newcastle v Bournemouth

for the 25th the only 3pm confirmed at the moment, (because all the other games are up-in-the air, due to clubs still in the FA Cup) is Wolves v Spurs. But the two other possibilities are Bournmouth v Leeds or West Ham v Everton (West Ham play Leeds in the FA Cup QF, so one of them has to go!).

Whereas I am the opposite - if I was told to pick one of either Premier or TNT, it would be Premier for the rugby coverage.

Each to their own. (Though thankfully it’s a choice that doesn’t have to be made).

Tweet from TNT Sports saying that “HBO Max is the new streaming home of TNT Sports in the UK & Ireland”. Any implications for the Sports Extra Pack going forward?

There's no change in Ireland. That should say UK only. TNT Sports is not available on HBO Max here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 Mayo and Louth

I tried the link in the tweet and it doesn't work.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,870 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

It’s a mistake - TNT remains part of Sports Extra here, the HBO Max plans that include TNT aren’t available here.

They tweeted “stream TNT Sports on HBO max in the UK and Ireland” a lot this morning

They’ve since deleted them and reposted as just “in the UK”
