Did you miss the bit about dipping for oncoming traffic ? You dip your headlights you dip your fogs . No other way about it. And it's not about seeing 5m ahead of you it's about seeing the road at rod levell .Not everyone drives about dublin or built up areas .

How women who are passionately pro choice because they have a chip on their shoulder about men "telling them what to do" cant see the bigger picture. Or do they see it and just not care.

Are you seriously saying that you always have your fog lights on when your headlights are on?

Now, do you know what's really annoying? Those cars with super-bright lights (can't think what they're called, now, but they have a blueish tinge to them - no, not Garda cars 😅 - and I'm not talking high beams, either) that would light up an airport landing strip. They sear into your retina and leave you blind for a long while afterwards.

    Is the U.S. a democracy?

It's illegal, and with good reason as they blind oncoming drivers, only a fool would think that safer

Okay, I was thinking of my own cycling/listening experience with earbuds, rather than the headphones the other poster mentioned. Noise cancelling headphones definitely wouldn't be a good idea.

There's a row or trees to the left of the entrance/exit of my estate, but I can always hear if there are any cars coming while I have my music on (except for maybe those pesky electric cars, but I've eyes to deal with them). 👀 😉

I mean there's not a lot you can do on a bike only keep your position on the road. Can't look behind you constantly,so you're dependent on the Christian charity of the driver coming behind you to not run you down.

Again, bog roads, nobody in sight. You see the lights of other cars coming from miles away, so you switch the fog lights off way before they become a probem, same as high beams. I'm definitely not recommending this in urban areas or places with lots of traffic, but in certain places they are badly needed.

I also find people (e.g. on tractors) using indicators to tell you when it's ok to overtake them on narrow road very helpful, too (left = go, the road is free, right = traffic incoming, stay back).

    Yes.

You can vote for either one of the billionaire owned right wing parties.

“It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see..."
"You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?"
"No," said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, "nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in."

    Douglas Adams.

I mean, Marvin had every right to be depressed and paranoid.

"Life," said Marvin dolefully, "loathe it or ignore it, you can't like it.'

I have my fog lights on at all times in the evening, it definitely improves visibility at close and medium range.

I also have them on in our Canadian Winter to signal my presence on grey or white sky days, where the landscape tends to be monochromatic.

I also am nor a fan of some of the blinding led headlights, but the foglights don’t usually bother orher drivers, while top lighting does.

I came across a stat the other day day that said over 40% of mobile phones in Ireland are iphones. I don't know one person who has one. I work in hospitality and none of the people I work with has an iphone. Pretty much all the customers I see every day have android phones. It seems weird that I seem to never see one yet the stats say nearly half the population has one.

The teenagers wouldn't be caught dead with an android! About 95% of them have iphone😁.

And if they have Android they call it a Samsung no matter what brand it is.

Do people really have an idea just how f*cked the prospects for humanity are given current trends or are they largely happy with being distracted via the vapid rubbish so-called "social" media spews out on a daily basis?

Would have thought we lived in a remarkably stable world given the events of history.

Well, yes. But one generally can only improve their own local environment and help people close to oneself. A cumulative effort of good people helping others may prove to be the butterfly effect that saves humanoty on the brink of collapse. There is little point in worrying about solving Middle East issues, or about what Trump said in the last hour.

I'm amazed that some people blame this on an algorithm, are people that lazy that they will just accept the latest clanker gruel instead of using the search function for something they may be interested in.

What are they all doing I wonder? Is the taxpayer getting stiffed I wonder!

Top of the head list…Des Cahill, Cuddihy ODonohue, Libreri, Moloney, Eames, Jon Kenny, the swimmer fella Paul something,…Jaqui Hurley, M arie Crowe

I wonder how many more of these liggers are over there at the taxpayers expense. ???

I am amazed at the amount of teen girls I see on a daily basis at the weekend walking around town with a €600 iPhone sticking out of their back pocket.

Literally asking to be robbed or worse, mugged…

Also, teen boys flying about the place on clearly illegal scooters capable of 50+kph on pavements, through red lights, no road sense whatsoever…

Parents wake T F Up!! (If you give a sh1t, but possibly are the kind who don't)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,386 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Baffled how there isn't several deaths each day with the carry on of scooter riders.

Here's a lad with a 119kph scooter. Didn't know you needed insurance if it's capable of more than 20 kph.

Give it time , we are up to about one death or life altering injury accident a week already

Why these so called big players in the Irish drug selling scene wear such sh1t clothes, like you you are making big money and known to the police so no point wearing pennys clothes to avoid attention, why wear Nike shell suits and under armour t shirts?
