Trump looks like he is getting ready to declare a win. Like this fella predicted:

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The "cognitive decline" shìte about Biden was never about cognitive ability, Trump was always in a worse state then Biden.

No more than the "Genocide Joe" shìte where Trump was supposedly the peace loving alternative to save Gaza.

It's actually weaker, apparently, according to a discussion I heard on LBC this morning. I don't know enough about the previous one to comment, though apparently it was working reasonably well and was actually certified as such by Trump's first admin twice until Trump peremptorily decided to tear it up because it was negotiated by Barak HUSSEIN Obama.

There was a moment towards the end of the presidency, I think at the UN, where Biden answered off-the-cuff questions from the press for an hour about foreign policy, and often spoke at length in detail about certain issues. Even if Trump prepared for such an event for 6 months, he would still be totally incapable of matching that performance.

I never believed the cognitive decline about Biden aside from the normal natural mental slowdown caused by his age. He had some unbelievably unfortunate gaffs and often tripped over his own words but I think that was mostly just surface level stuff. On the other hand, the problem with Trump runs much deeper and he is clearly mentally, cognitively, and emotionally unsuitable for the job.

Anyone see Newsnight tonight? Victims of Epstein on. It really is disgraceful that only 1 person is behind bars for it all.

One woman, she was complicit and should 100% be locked up, but where are the male perps apart from the obviously unalive Epstein?

I just realized how much Trump reminds me of Mel Brook's Governor William J Le Petomane in Blazing Saddles. About the same level of misogyny, and definitely acting as a useful fool for whoever is pulling the strings in the background.

Could be mistaken for a live feed from the Oval Office…

It seems clear that they are planning a ground invasion.

Some argue the goal is simply to seize Kharg Island. But its at the north of the strait. To get there they would need to first clear an island chain including Qeshm, which is believed to have thousands of missiles in underground salt mines known as "missile city". Even if the took Kharg island, they would be vulnerable to shelling from the Zagros mountains. If they wanted regime change, they would need to cross the mountains.

The Allies managed all this in 1941 because they had support in the South, and also the army then was made up largely of conscripts. Also the USSR joined in the invasion which happened from multiple sides. The current regime's armed forces are considered far more resilient and ideologically committed. It's clear Russia is helping Iran to some extent. That was probably a factor in Israel bombing the Bandar Anzali port on the Caspian sea.

Some reports that Israel did not bomb Russian ships. One good thing that could come of this war would be if it disrupted Iran's support for Russian in the war in Ukraine, but Israel's relationship with Russia for years has been very transactional, and they have millions of Russian speakers in Israel.

George Clooney was a strong critic of Bidens “decline”, wonder how he feels about that now as he watches the madness of Trump

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has said he would back Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, the Democratic governor of Kentucky, if he runs in the next election.

The crucial case in SCOTUS where the Republicans are trying to ban counting mail-in votes that come in late.

Ironically they are challenging a Mississippi law that allows this. Republicans control Mississippi.

In the first video, Kavanaugh questions the RNC. In the second and third ones, he and Gorsuch question the Mississippi Solicitor General defending the Mississippi law.

In the last one, Sonya Sotomayor (An Obama appointee) questions RNC lawyer. She compares how military officers in the Civil War were allowed to receive votes from their regiment. Asks why is it different from the postal service receiving them, given neither were sworn in election officers. She mentions that having happened in Nevada and Rhode Island during the Civil War. Reminds him about the postal votes counted in Florida in 2000 which elected Bush. RNC calls that the "reddest of red herring".

“It seems clear that they are planning a ground invasion.”

They obviously want to take control of something that will have Iran over a barrel in years to come.

Trump talking about an ongoing “negotiation” with Iran is just stalling for time in my view as the troops get in place; and anyway, they’re still lobbing bombs at each other, so it’s not a ceasefire per se.

Whilst I don’t trust Iran, I don’t trust Trump either- I would doubt these “talks” will go anywhere and all we’re doing is waiting on America and Israel to get their ducks lined up for whatever they’re planning

Meanwhile, I read that retailer Next are expecting the war to cost them an additional £15m while in the US, the postal service are adding an 8% surcharge on packages - more winning by Trump 🙄

So Iran offered Trump to become supreme leader, but Trump turned it down. That must have been the gift they offered.

Get him to Iran to swear him in and he gets killed by a kick of a goat.

NYT on just how badly this war is going for troops - they're 'working remotely' because they can't be secured in the area.

"Iran’s Attacks Force U.S. Troops to Work Remotely
Iran has severely damaged several American military bases in the Middle East, officials say."

And now, the NYT can come back to Pentagon 'briefings.' This is gonna get interesting.

A ground invasion of where? The country has 90 million people, is the size of alaska and is roughly 50% mountains. To securely hold the straights of hormuz and secure the energy production of the entire region they would need to control the entire 1500km stretch of Irans water access to that area which would mean also securing 50-100km inland for the entire stretch as well so around 75 billion square kilometres on the low end held securely for how long????

Him being kicked by a goat might explain his behaviour, or indeed might cure it.

Thanks for your detailed insight on the challenges of an invasion. 👍

It makes it even harder as a result, to determine objectives here- my mind keeps going back to Israel’s desire to obliterate Iran- easy to say but incredibly difficult to do.
I just hope they stick to military targets and not destroy the civilian power grids - that would be like kicking a man whist down and leaving him in the gutter to suffer- it won’t end well.

It’s possible if America secured the strait (with the assistance of ground troops amongst other things) and came to a deal with Iran on that- which they’d need to- then America would start charging a levy for safe passage is my guess as money is never far from trumps mind- so essentially he’ll “tariff” oil going to certain countries- and possibly will get free oil supplies also from Iran- in trumps mind money will solve a lot of things- actually will solve all things.

The islands (multiple options) which will magically make Iran go "Oh no, you found our secret weak spot and killed us"; at least in Trump's head. The reality is they will invade one or more of the islands; get droned/shelled from the main land and achieve sod all for doing it except digging the hole deeper and make a nice quagmire. Because clearly the invasions of Irak, Afghanistan etc. showing how a ground invasion in a local area means nothing was not lessons worth learning because Trump did not do those invasions; because his invasions are the bestest invasions and will therefor work. The only good news from it all is that it will make the coming election go that much harder against Trump and GOP enablers for the mess they created and keep turning away his own voters (and the rest will make up excuses such as it's all because he did not get the Nobel peace price etc.).
