I'm currently with eir, Fibre 1Gb connection. My contract is finishing up early Jan so looking for new deal.

Lot of SIRO offers but would that need new connection to house (drilling the walls)?

Is my eir broadband FTTH? Would Digi FTTH 12 month offer for 37.95(no CPI increase) use the same connection as Eir?

How reliable are Digi? No issues with Eir in the last 2 years.

    Thanks a lot for help.

SIRO would involve a new fibre connection and another ONT installed. SIRO would have to be available to you, you can check here -

The "Digiweb Lightning 1000 Saver with Talk Unlimited" is available on Switcher.ie, which is Digiweb 1Gb OpenEir for €30pm. So you could keep using your existing OpenEir fibre connection, just provide the Eir UAN.

Makes sense to go with Digiweb deal on switcher. Are they reliable?

Rang Eir too, they offered 39.99 per month for 24 months.

Yeah I'm with Digiweb currently and find them good. Eir has a yearly April price increase of €4.

No brainer really. Digiweb are really good. I had Eir up until the start of this year and with Digiweb since. Both were rock solid, no change in performance but save a chunk with Digiweb vs Eir. I really dislike the CPI increase stuff Eir and some of them do so your 39.99 they're quoting you today will be 44.99 from April and you'll get caught for an additional 4 the following April again if you agree to 2 years with Eir. I've never seen Digiweb at 29.99 ever before though so I'd jump at it now if I were you.

I'm in the process of switching from VF to Eir for our FTTH. I have received the Eir Router & have tried to change the SSID & password to match those of my current setup. However, special characters @, # and % are being rejected as unacceptable in the password even though the pop-up info shows them as acceptable. Has anyone experienced this? The router is a Sagemcom CS 50001.

Are you sure you are not putting those special characters (your password) into the SSID name section.

SSID can only have standard alphanumerical characters.

No. The change to the SSID name is being accepted. It's definitely the password where I'm having the problem. It accepts special characters !, + and * but not @, # and %.

Had the same issue with Eir router. Had to use my own Asus router.

Would you mind telling which model Asus router you are using. Does it have good Wi-Fi coverage?

Maybe try a mesh system if you are looking for better WiFi coverage - Deco X10, X20, X50 etc.

You can connect the router/mesh directly to the ONT and use these settings for eir -

    Connection Type - IPoE/DHCP/Dynamic IP

Internet VLAN ID 10, usually found in VLAN/IPTV settings

It's really old, RT AC68. It's pretty good, covers whole house no issues.

I have since switched to Digiweb and using their router.
