Route extension ideas around Naas , Castlewarden directions

Hi

So I'm doing a loop from South Dublin, Tallaght, Hazlehatch, sallins via canal, Naas, Castlewarden, Rathcoole, Tallaght, South Dublin. I'd like to extend that by maybe 20k, but I don't fancy hitting the hills up to Blessington. So, I'm looking to see if anyone has any ideas for quiet country roads somewhere perhaps extending past Naas but then eventually gets me back to Rathcoole?

I could skip Sallins, and extend to Celbridge/Maynooth, but the roads back to Straffan / Naas direction seem quite busy.

I've done it once, I can't remember about the wind but the straight road encouraged a lot of fast cars whizzing by me.

Not the quietest roads but generally not too bad traffic wise

That Allenwood-Prosperous-Clane road is usually very busy with traffic and not one I'd use by choice.

I approve of nilhg's choice, as a local. Avoid the Sallins/Clane/Kilcock road at all costs.

I would agree with that - a very unpleasant road to cycle on due to the frequency & speeds of passing vehicles

I've a disliking to all of the main roads leading into Clane - they're busy with fast moving traffic which often doesn't give much room to overtake. I can't think of another town that I feel that way about.

Thanks for that. I've imported it into google maps. Might give it a go this weekend weather (and head cold) permitting.
