just saw another video on it, looks nice, and good to see we seem to have a clearish starting price for what the rear wheel drive models will be. Surprised to see the smaller battery rwd starting at 66500, with the ix3-50 xdrive big battery starting at 73k. The Volvo AwD big battery version starting 5k more? Seems overpriced, if not as much as they started the ex90 at. Seems to be starting at 63k in Germany at around the Q6 etron new start price here. Which seems like a more competitive pricing.

The XC60 is starting around 78k ish now. It’s a testament to what Volvo have done with the EX30 and EX90 launch quality, that I’ve ordered an IX3.

    Just looking at it online.
    Looks fab.

Tough choice between this or an iX3. The more conservative person would take the Volvo.

I quite like it and cross country version is nice too, another low almost estate like SUV. A bit bland from the front but good from other angles. conservative or not very few people will pay more for it like for like over equivalent BMW, Audi or Mercedes. It needs to be 5k cheaper than equivalent, not 5k more than equivalent. It will lose value too quickly. You would have to wait 6 months to a year after launch for the cheap UK imports to start to arriive

they’ve made an effort compared to the ex90 pricing driven by the ix3 pricing but not quite got there, similar to the Audi price cuts. It’s still generally good for the market to see the prices come down overall but hard to see someone opting for this as it doesn’t launch for a while also.

I guess since the base model looks to be coming sooner compared to the other marques it might have a chance there.

That steering wheel looks like it was taken straight from an XPeng G6, awful yoke.

Worse is that light colour where your hands/fingers will be resting will mean discoloration over time from dirt, grime and oils.

there is a dark steering wheel option too in fairness. There does look to be a sweetspot in the p10 AwD middle battery size with 660km wltp. The plus version has a very decent spec and comes in at €70k. So not sure why anyone with buy the rwd version, it should be 63k for sure. The P10 might be an option for people until bmw launch a model down from the ix350.

The cross country says delivery from mid 2027!

Much nicer looking inside and out than an iX3. Seems quite expensive for what it is. Needs to be cheaper than a comparable BMW/Audi/Merc to have any chance here.

just looked at autogefuhel video of it. Really like it and prefer the look over the BMW iX3. On the Irish configurator, top spec big battery one came in at €85k for me which is similar to iX3 m sport pro and cheaper then Mercedes GLC which came out to 95k on the Irish configurator for premium plus Amg line.

It says however not available until end of 2026 which really means it’s a 2027 car.

the latest car wow review on the new ex90 is pretty brutal, interesting to see how this fairs..hopefully they don’t mess it up, the xc60 is a great car.

I watched that review. Mat Watson was pretty negative about the EX90 overall and the EX30 has had lots of issues too. Hopefully this will be better.

They’d be better off just bringing back the xc90 at this stage, the older cars even looked better.

In for a service last week and asked could I have a lend of the polestar, said they hadn’t one then I pointed to the black one outside. Turned out it was a s90, went for a closer look, it’s another step backwards. More suv than car looking and close to 90k.

Agree, my better half wanted to buy an EX90 but the entire package was underwhelming to put it mildly. The seats/interior of the XC90 felt more premium. The haptic buttons on steering wheel were awful compared to the XC90. I've seen about 3 EX90's around South Dublin with failed headlight units. Very disappointing for Volvo to ship such a terrible product to customers. Loads of software issues with them also.

Anyone heard when these will be in showrooms?

  • Subscribers Posts: 17,114 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

no hear yet, but a few external driving videos out, the wing mirrors looks ridiculous in them!

Thanks..dont think they look that bad….I have never had a Volvo but am leaning towards one now..great range!

Has anyone considered the ES90 either? I had originally liked it (or the idea of it) but this actually seems a better car

es90 looked to have great rear room, but based on ex90 which is problematic. Saw that brand new press one on review with Sunday indo just died twice unrepsonsive and had to be towed anyway.

Mark Noble, Nobby on cars has a road test of an Irish es90 up on YouTube.
    he wasn’t saying it’s a world beater.

Sorry I am talking about the ex60..you keep mentioning es90 as that was the original point you replied to 😆

Want to stay at certain price range so hoping ex60 stays around guided

  • Subscribers Posts: 17,114 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

ah apologies, this is the ex60 thread in fairness so we were off topic. No sign of the ex60 anywhere yet, not due for a while yet either. Definitely think it requires more of a wait and see than the BMW or Mercedes competition as Volvo now have managed to build an undesirable reputation for crappy software and sensors etc in their newer EVs requiring loads of recalls to try and address, so will need to see how that pans out over time on the ex60. I’d not be inclined to jump into buying one near launch.

This. Three years ago I’d have told you I’d be first in line for this car. Not a chance I’d consider it till it’d be out at least a year. The ES90 review has just added to my suspicions of Volvo. That was running the new Orin processors, that were meant to address most of the issues with EX90. R/volvoex90 is just truly something to behold by the way.

I was out in J&P getting my car serviced last month. Not a single EX90 in the place. Asked and there was some embarrassed excuses. Two new XC90s driven away while I was there. Yet, to see one on the road in Cork. And Volvo have always had a significant presence with large Volvos here. Anyone Volvo owner I know IRL, won’t go near the brand at the moment.

interesting, there is a couple around my way, including Dermot Bannon, but presume his is a sponsorship thing.

Aargh.. That's not what I wanted to hear..

Never really been a Volvo fan as thought they were too bland and steady but liked this one for better design, range and price.. Funny though I was told by a Polestar owner that their head is melted with all the warnings it flashes up when driving it..

Don't really want to go beyond 75k, so new BMW is too dear..maybe the Lexus worth looking at..any other recommendations??

Some nice used BMW i5’s well under €75K available at the moment. Touring is probably the one to have.
