I was just thinking the same. Hope you are all doing ok, Jude. It sounds very tough on everyone.

Thanks all, we really have very very low risk of anything happening as our residential area isn't near any military or strategic importance. Its just the noise of the interceptions/drones especially for the little ones. I am watching the clock as about midnight GMT/4am here Trumps deadline for opening the straight ends, if he hits power and water in Iran, they will return in kind. Then I will be booking a flight for the family out of town and I will follow with the mutt when able.

Discussing plans of Christmas away (not Ireland or UA) somewhere this year, this has accelerated those plans.

If its any consolation, its been reported that talks have been undertaken with iran & Trump has advised the Dept of War to postpone strikes against Iranian power infrastructure.

You are being too kind in your description of him. Think i read that hitting power and water plants in countries are classed as war crimes, not that he'd give a fig.

Also, if he cuts Iran's power then the oil can't be moved anyway so hitting a power plant is no addition.

He on my naughty list for sure!! Glad you’re keeping safe Jude. Bonkers the way it is at the moment. How America can ever be proud for voting him in twice is just beyond me.

He's going to make a cracking PhD dissertation subject matter though ....if we make it through the next few years😅😅

I'd love to be a fly on the wall of all the different leaders, I'd say the collective groans is deafening.

Its a mad house, the two candidates should have been nowhere near power. Quietest night in 3 weeks, just fighter planes. My description of the orange man is light 1) its the Christmas forum and I don't want to offend anyone, even in ones own families politics is a tinder box and I love that this place has two parties, you're an elf or you can get out and go on the naughty list and 2) posting from here means that you guys are likely not the only ones reading this.

In other news to cheer us up I bought a blender, its been on the list a while, so it will be milkshakes for the kids, and frozen drinks for the big elves.

Great to hear that your family are safe and some form of normality might happen @Jude13. You've had a tough couple of weeks so fingers crossed going forward.

As for the states, there is a thread on boards called - would you go to America in the current climate or something to that effect. And a few contributors have wrote in saying they've been to the states and plenty of people still supporting him, which to us on this side of the pond we just don't get it, crazy stuff. But you're right, if you want to get political, go there, we are a much more positive bunch.

I think on here, we are just glad you're safe.

Anyone got any plans for Easter, I used to love Easter when I was in school, those 2 weeks felt like a life time. Now it's just a Bank Holiday weekend for me.

Prepare my other house before various friends borrow it in the summer. So cleaning, painting, replacing the TV install, and most hideously, whitewashing - actual lime mortar that burns your skin if you get it on you.

That, and consume loads of chocolate

I was hoping to take the week after Easter off - as I don't work a Thursday, it would only be 3 days of AL but unfortunately, I appear to have become important (accidentally) at work & now it's likely that I will have to work the Friday at least. Not that we had much plans anyway, but I wanted to spend some time getting the garden sorted.

I have Easter week off, I always book my holidays on bank holiday weeks , still get a full week but still have a extra a day so that gives me more days off for Christmas.

I normally take the 4 days after Easter Monday off, gives a great run of 10 consecutive days without work for just 4 days annual leave. But am simply too busy this year (worst ever in fact) to contemplate time off. In fact can see myself working over the 4 day easter weekend just to keep my head above water.

I'm off Good Friday so am thinking of taking the Tuesday after Easter to give a nice few days off.

A load of my team are off either before or after Easter so it'll be a quiet enough fortnight. Just as well because the Elves have camps so I'll still be back and forth dropping them off and collecting them during "business hours"

I honestly feel like the kids just returned to school after the midterm and here they are off again annoying me 😂 😂 😂

Honestly there's not a room in this house that's free from clutter, so I do hope to chip away at that (this is typical me, plan on doing XYZ then end up being referee realizing I can't go to the loo without murder happening, nevermind sorting clutter)

Anyway I'm still optimistic, Aldi have storage boxes for a fiver so I picked up two today.

We've no plans as I'm still not 100%.

Kids aren't booked into any camps. So with school off they'll be up with the larks 🙄 🙄 but hopefully we'll have lazy mornings and just chill in-between killing each other!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,839 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

Rest assured, @Princess Calla, it will be a similar two weeks in this house! They're either killing each other with love or battering the heads off each other - there's no middle ground 😂🙈

In other news, we've had a skitter of snow in the wee county this morning! And it's absolutely baltic!

We had some sleet/snow earlier (around 7am) but the sun is out now.

Best friends or mortal enemies 🙄 😂

Cinema and mc Donald's are the only things they've asked to do. We'll do that for sure.

Windy and sunny, could see record % of power from renewables today.

Eirgrid Dashboard was predicting max output for both could be a record for that type

Went out in to what I thought would be nice weather, considering its so bright, to do the bins. In a tshirt. Frozen!

Not much planned for Easter mid term, will try have a couple of days out. Need a shopping day to get the final stuff for the christening. We never really go out Easter Sunday - usually just stay home with a nice lamb dinner and a bottle of vino!

I think the weather was only teasing us with a few dry, decent days a while ago. We are back to the cold and a good blasting of rain a few times a day to boot.

Still windy and chilly out there today, regretting putting away the winter coat on the weekend!

I honestly think that we are living in an alternate reality, more big booms today, and now tornado warnings (https://www.thenationalnews.com/news/uae/2026/03/24/uae-weather-storms-heavy-rain-tornado-abu-dhabi-dubai/)

Thinking about doing Lapland/Santa this year before our youngest looses some magic. When people went did they go to Levi?
