Swapping Weco 5.2kwh battery with Dyness 14.3kwh

Hey all, looking for some advice on swapping out my existing WeCo 5.2Kwh battery for a larger Dyness 14.3kwh battery. The swap, rather than battery addition, is solely down to space being extremely limited and cannot add a second battery physically, so will do a swap for a larger battery.

I maxed our roof space and interior space by a professional install with this system:

3.9kwp panels on roof
5k Solis Hybrid Inverter
5.3Kwh Weco Battery

I'm looking to almost triple the battery capacity with not a huge difference in physical space to capture more of our own power (summer months mostly as I know it's not a huge system) and leverage a lower discounted night rate.

Both are LiFePO4 batterys and the Solis inverter and Dyness battery say they are compatible with eachother. I'm planning on doing the switch myself, and appears pretty straight forward.

Are there any concerns or things to be aware of here? Does anyone have a similar battery and how was your experience? Thanks for the community expertise in advance!

is this in your attic? how much does the 14kw battery weigh?

The 14.3kwh Dyness would weigh 114kg, the current WeCo 5.2kwh is about 53kg. It's in an alcove type of space on way to the attic as it was the only practical place unfortunately, but the space I have to work with

make sure where it's going can support that weight and that you have some way of getting the new battery up there - 114kg is heavy!

I've moved a similar battery, and it was barely a 2-person job - three or four preferred. I presume you are planning on disassembling it and reassembling it in the attic?

Top tips from my experience:

Check the DC power cable length and termination - they may use different lugs!
Research the protocol configuration on both the BMS and the inverter beforehand as it can be a pig to get right. Is it a JK-BMS? There is a very good Solis thread on it in here.
Understand and follow your power-down and power-up procedure.
Know that Solis needs to see DC from either solar or battery before it will power-up. This caught me out with the Seplos BMS after dark!

Thank you for the tips! Do you mean 3-4 person based on weight? Thankfully the attic is accessible via a stairs.

Yes, it's a dead-weight and it would be a struggle to move up a stairs with two people. I'd prefer three - one in front, two rear - for sure.

I think the Solis has option for Dyness as a battery type, that will need changing on the inverter and I think maybe with the CAN cable you will need to remove the small adaptor either at the inverter or battery end, before you plug it into the Dyness.

@onmi_cube. If your think of of selling the weco , then I let me know . I’m looking to go from 15KW upwards when I get a heat pump .
