Golf Shoes...again

How long do you get out of a pair of shoes?

I bought a pair of Adidas S2G in Spring 2025. They're spikeless, so I only wear them up until around October time, then I wear my spiked ones over the winter.

I wore them on Saturday at New Forest and my right foot is cut to **** at the back, they are completely worn through on the heel. So that's say 7 months of life. There are maybe 2 or 3 rounds per week in that time though. In comparison my winter shoes are Footjoy Hyperflex and they are still in perfect condition after 2 winters.

This is the second pair of Adidas shoes I've had to replace after 1 season. Are people buying a new pair of shoes every year at this stage?

Anyone any experience with the Footjoy Quantums or the Under Armour Phantom? Or the Footjoy Pro SLX, are they really worth the extra money?

I'd say the Adidas is the problem. I've exclusively bought footjoys with the exception of one pair of Callaways in the last 20 years. And I couldn't fault any of the footjoys, whereas the Callaways were just rubbish.

I'm due to replace my current pair of shots and will probably go with ECCO or new balance just to change it up, but i expect them to be inferior.

Totally agree about the Footjoys. I've tried several brands over the years and always seemed to end up back with Footjoy. Just really solid golf shoes. I can't wear them at the moment due to a bout of plantar fasciitis last year and I can't get a pair of FJs that will take my orthotic and still be comfortable. Bought a pair of Under Armour Halo at the weekend that felt really comfortable but they're my first ever Under Armour shoes, so time will tell how they hold up.

I have the newer textile quantum’s and they are great for summer wear. Really comfortable and ok grip, not amazing on a really wet dewey morning but as good as most spikeless shoes. I wear various models of the hyperflex boa in winter and they are as comfortable. I play a lot and rotate through a fair few pairs of shoes but almost always footjoy. The new pro sls feel very hard and plasticky to me based on a quick look in shop.

I wear footjoy or Skechers. I find the Skechers really comfortable and a wide fit ( personally found adidas somewhat narrow in the toe area). Had a pair of Under Armour but over time they wore and the heel cushioning foam shifted down and made them feel like they were slipping off as opposed to the heel support cushioning when wearing them but it was from how I was putting them on and taking them off that caused it to be fair. If I was buying a pair now I’d get Skechers. I really liked the footjoy SL super lite from a few years ago they were very comfy and light.

I've been wearing Nike 270's for 3 years, still in great shape. Only had bad experiences with Adidas

Puma the most comfortable and waterproof ive ever had. Someone put them up here on sale a couple of years ago and i bought 2 pair. One has finally given out and i will be replacing them if i can find them again

Ive a pair of footjoys and even morning due have my feet soaked. Never again.

Had callaways that didnt last 9 months and fell apart.

Picked up a pair of skechers last week and yet to try them but claim to 100% waterproof. Seem to be comfortable too

I’ve Adidas code chaos Boa for summer and I have found them excellent…

I’ve used code chaos with laces and found them cutting in me alright

I use Ecco boa tour waterproofs for winter, the leather started cracking 15 months after

Send photos to Clubhouse Golf and they sent out H5’s Boa there this week.

Really can’t argue with Ecco and Clubhouse golf’s aftercare

I've had numerous brands over the years. Most are fine for 1 year, start to degenerate second year and I keep these for fine days.

I've found with heel wear that it comes down to how well they fit your feet. A millimetre or 2 too big allows the heel to slide and wear, sometimes with associated pain.

Bought a pair off Temu which look good but I've yet to try out.

I bought these when they were on sale for £35 last year, very comfy and I've never got wet, went for the wide fit
