    Cork 12 up at ht.

    Limerick 10 up at ht.

Cork v Limerick league final on the cards.

TG4 is awful this evening. Splitting the screens for different games.Showing Cork hammering Offaly ffs.

Cork started a strong team, showing respect to Offaly perhaps, making sure they would get the win perhaps.

But battering the daylights out of Offaly is not advantageous to either team and they left a few goals behind them.

Fine effort from Galway but they just come up short. They will be there or there abouts in Leinster. Limerick were 11 up but even with a fairly lucky goal near the end, they hold on for a 2 point win.

Galways character surprised me in the second half. They were so near overturning a 10 point deficit

Jaysus the commentator for the Tipp KK game was absolutely dreadful.

Shocking. Trying to be yoo clever.

The commentator on tipperary kk hasn't a clue. Mentioning players who are not even on the field.

Obviously doesn't know what David blanchfield or John mcgrath look like!

Sadly it looks like Offaly are still a long way off competing at the top table again, then again the success they enjoyed in the 80's and 90's was remarkable considering the size of the county.

So it's Cork and Limerick in the league final and sure we may as well go all out and try to win it i guess. It could easily have been Galway we were playing though. I don't mean to jinx them but Galway are a good bet to win Leinster this year i think.

How Will both teams approach it? Limerick can go more full belt with 3 weeks to championship but cork might play 6 or 7 fringe players like twomey, mellirick, o flying, etc. Fact they played their full team last makes me think they'll hold back in the final. Totally understandable.

Limerick have been going almost full team for the league so I doubt that changes now.

I think cork will go all out. Treat it as a proper championship match. I assume Limerick will go all out too.

Nothing better than entering the championship with a Trophy and with a pep in the step.

Nice tk see all the lower division finals are to be played in county grounds rather than some middle of nowhere club or centre of excellence.

Home advantage for the top team should also have been extended to 1B.

Liam rushe back in the Dublin panel according to the 42. Last played inter-county 2022 so hard to see him being a 70 minute man at his age.

Should be beneficial for his experience though and maybe a 15 or 20 minute cameo here and there. Looks very open leinster championship this year

He was brilliant on the good run they had in 2013. Unlucky v Cork in the semi final, the sending off was harsh and if I recall properly Cork only got on top in the last ten minutes.

The biggest joke about the double header in Limerick is that there is an actual 1B final, what is the need for a 1B final

Why would there not be a 1b final? Strange comment.

The issue isn't the final. It's calling it 1B to make people feel better about themselves is the problem.

True bad enough having one division one final but two of them is hardly necessary.

Its more top class hurling matches we need rather than less. Why would an empty weekend be better than 2 league finals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭C4000

Its an advantage to both teams to have a well contested, competitive match ahead of championship. Youll learn a lot more from a game like that.

Dwyer was sent off wasn’t he? I remember been livid changed the game. Knew Dublin might never get that chance again for a long time.

Would love to see Con O’Callaghan line out for the Dublin hurlers. He would have a big impact on the side. Feck the footballers. Might win a league/leinster with hurlers.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,458 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

But why would you specifically criticize a 1b final as being somehow "worse" than a 1a final? I'm not seeing what the problem is. When it comes down to it, no matches are "necessary".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

Not much talk around about the league finals. Don't want to be bringing up the split season again but the league final nowadays feels more like a tune up for championship rather than playing for a national title in its own right.

At least Limerick have 3 weeks to championship but I feel this a game cork don't need with a repeat of the all Ireland against tipp coming down the tracks.

Still ,hopefully we get 2 cracking games and im sure we will. If Dublin could beat clare it would a huge boost heading into the leinster championship.

Thats an very rose tinted view. The league never had a point where it was more or less important than now. Doesn't matter how close or far away it is from championship.

It's been a good barometer of form recently so I would say Cork are happy enough to be involved.

Think both teams will go all out for this one but I just think Limerick are a different animal this year and should have enough to get the job done.

I'm sure the players will give it the full energy but I would say tactically neither team want to give away too much here. Probably a better game for limerick as they have the first week off in championship so it'll stand to them more. Talking to a friend from Cork yesterday who felt it's a bit of an inconvenience but I think once a sold out crowd let's out a roar the adrenaline will be humming. Weird that a sold out game is getting no real talk, but I agree with breezy, nobody has ever been too bothered who wins the league. Sometimes a particular team it will been a lot to but I just don't think either if these teams see it as a big target for the year at all
