For once I am glad of the break, at least if they aren't playing they aren't losing and I dont have my phone lit up by united fans who think united are world beaters now.

European qualifiers though so arguably more taxing than the likes of Wirtz, Szoboszlai and the Dutch lads all playing friendlies

Match time is good but 3 games seems excessive, he's nowhere near used to that sort of usage this season so just hope he's not playing all of it

A lot of discussion on going on line as to whether this premier league defense is as bad as Leicester. With 7 games to go we are currently 14 W 7 D and 10 L.

We're already ahead of Leicester on points and I can't see us dropping to 12th.

We need to win all our remaining games to match Chelsea's defense of the title. We would not be too far away from City last year either.

Our problem with these performances is we just can't see 7 wins out of 7.

I could see us closer to United's 13/14 finish come the end of the season.

    For records:

    Man City PL winners 2024 - 2025 finish 03rd on 71 points (21W 8 D 9 L)

    Liverpool PL winners 2020 - 2021 finish 03rd on 69 points (20 W 9 D 9 L)

    Chelsea PL winners 2017 - 2018 finish 05th on 70 points (21 W 7 D 10 L)

    Leicester PL winners 2016 - 2017 finish 12th on 44 points (12 W 8 D 18 L)

    Man United PL winners 2013 - 2014 finish 07th on 64 points (19 W 7 D 12 L)

    Chelsea PL winners 2010 - 2011 finish 02nd on 71 points (21 W 8 D 9 L)

    Blackburn winners 1995 - 1996 finish 07th on 61 points (18 W 7 D 13 L)

    Leeds winners 1992 - 1993 finish 17th on 51 points (12 W 15 D 15 L) - 42 game premier league season

I think with all the talk of Slot out, I think what's missed is that Liverpool need to decide if its Edwards and Hughes in or out first. No potential manager is going to sign up if they think the people they will be reporting to will change in 12 months. Lots of decisions to be made over the summer!

Salah just announced that he's leaving at the end of the season.

I'd imagine most of us were expecting it. Has been a superb player for us.

    Time waits for no one.

Should be remembered as an absolute club legend.

No surprise, and probably for the best all round, but still... 😥

    The time is right.

An icon of the club, who sits alongside Dalglish, Gerrard, Hansen and all the greats you can think of. may rub people the wrong way with his arrogance, and his obsession with individual accolades, but it was one of the traits in him that dragged us to one of the greatest periods in our history.

    I'll miss him.

I've complained a lot about him - and moreso his positioning, but in the system, and what he chooses to do — but I still firmly believe there's a quality player in there when he's in the right areas. With his level of physical professionalism, I'm sure wherever he goes he'll have another few years banging in goals yet.

Does an announcement like this mean that his next move is sorted? Wonder if that means we'll be getting a fee for him - in which case that probably at least wipes out his wages from this season (and depending on the buyer - if its Saudi for instance - probably a bit more besides).

    Can't drop him now......

For the best. He's a legend of the club, but all come to an end. FACup is best chance of silverware as a farewell gift, but we need to get past City which is a massive task even when we are in form.

Wirtz/Ekitike/Isak will have a lot to live up to next year.

    One of the best ever.

    Thanks Mo...

And I hope the club get a nice fee for him too..

Seriously hope that clip isn't AI..

Has Salah wiped his potential transfer fee with that video? All is probably not as it seems.

Don't think there will be any fee, mutual termination I reckon. He's not the type who would just accept being a squad player and sit around on 500k a week.

Can't imagine he's done that without the deal already being done. The club likely did the video

This 100 percent , I still miss Mane . Watching Salah leaving as well , will taking some adjustment to our front line. I wonder where he’s going and with a year on his contract hopefully we’ll get at least 20-30m .

I'd say you're right about the fee. The romantic in me kind of hopes he's going back to Roma, he could still thrive in Serie A but it's less of a retirement league than some of the other options

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,198 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

I’d be thinking the same, maybe with the Iran war, that wipes a lot of potential for LFC cashing in on a decent fee.

It wouldn't surprise me after his announcement before the AFCON that a discussion was had and agreed to leave in the summer.

Didnt his agent go to Saudi in December? A deal may already be in place for a summer transfer.

Why would Salah agree to terminate his contract and walk away from nearly 21 million in wages?

Other scenario is that it's agreed to terminate, Liverpool save on the wages and Salah gets a signing on fee as a free agent with a Saudi club.

All depends on the next location I'd say… if it's the Saudi retirement league he has lined up, then I'd expect a fee to be involved. If it's anywhere else, particularly anywhere that he'll be taking a cut in wages, then mutual termination is more likely.

Even if we don't end up with a fee, I'd prefer to see him in Europe. As I said, I don't think he's quite done yet in the right team/position.

    Tough summer ahead.

Salah going, Robertson going. Konate likely to be going.

    Gakpo could potentially go.

Chiesa will more than likely be moved on.

Greek scouser will return from loan but will probably be sold.

    Jones potentially going.

    MacAllister maybe going?

    Manager could be going.

Edwards and Hughes could be going.

Would be interesting if Hughes and Salah end up at the same Saudi club!

Will Alisson and Virg still feel part of this new Liverpool?

Going in to last summer it felt we were on the precipice of new triumphant era with the PL and signings.

Going in to this summer it feels like the fall of an empire.

I'd imagine they've come to an agreement to let him leave for free/mutually terminate his contract. Not to many would be willing to take him on on his wages and pay a fee.

I don't think Saudi is where he'll end up. Maybe Barca? Lewandowski is leaving this summer so maybe they'll find a spot for him? Or maybe Galatasary?
