Is he recording his Sunday show on Saturday?

Well he has a newspaper review section on Sunday so at least some of the show is definitely on Sunday… No reason to think he's pre-recording…

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

Finally got around to getting my act together and remembering to listen to Pat on a Sunday. Overall it was what I was used to, though I feel a little short changed by having Padraig Paul Harrington on for the last 10 minutes. Not exactly my favourite spot at the best of times, worse when I don't know the song.

describing Karoline Leavitt, Pat: "for quite a young woman she has acquired such an arsenal of putdowns" 🤩🤩

I have to say that the Pat Kenny weekend show has been a big disappointment so far. Instead of tailoring his show to the weekend with more reviews, things like that, he's basically just took his previous weekday show and is doing the same. The lack of a proper panel discussion on Sundays in particular is a big L. Anton Savage's show was much better.

I was actually happy that he carried over his previous format to the new weekend programme. I feel we have enough alternative weekend-style lighter shows like Miriam and Brendan O'Connor. I suppose it's a case of each to their own.

Yes his cranky downbeat boringness not as pleasant at the weekend. His dreary style more suited to a rainy Tuesday morning.

I feel similar to Dulpit. Going from 15 hours a week, to 4 hours over the weekend, I feel a little short changed getting the filler segments like the whacker chef and the dermotologist whose answer to every text is "You should ask your GP", and Paul Harrington covering some song.

A 1 hour panel discussing the week's news on Saturday or Sunday with Pat leading and contributing would be excellent.

Thats what I'd expect. Political analysis is Pat's forte. As someone else, (possibly you?) said, there is enough light weekend shows on.

Im enjoying the weekends, not as much as the weekdays but its still better than anything else on the radio on weekend mornings. One thing I've noticed is Pat is able to move conversations on much more quickly now if they start getting uncomfortable like the Jewish interview this morning. Its given him greater control and I can see how he'd like that.

I’m wondering if the move to the weekend was foisted on him rather than him initiating it. Newstalk must have been thinking about succession plans and when they heard that Clare Byrne’s contract was up for renewal, I wonder did that accelerate the change.

It was odd the way Pat was so bit snippy about the move. He sounded annoyed when he was saying that he wasn’t going, just moving to the weekend and the way the show is the exact same as it was midweek. I think he was asked to move from the daily show and only agreed to the weekend one if he could continue with the same show.
Anyway I’m glad he’s still presenting the same show. Really enjoyed it today.

He seem to suggest as much in an interview with the Sindo. But he is also on the Board of Bauer media now, so it is hard to know what to believe.
