hard to know aytollah doubling down threatening to destroy all infrastructure in the middle east

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Who knows who is making the threat. The initial strikes seem to have killed off the leadership in Iran that showed restraint and it's now replaced with people who see this as a fight for survival with zero trust left for negotiations.

America apparently can't even get in contact with who they need to talk to in Iran.

Some more damage to Israel from Iranian missiles today :(

    @Faytuks

Israeli aviation officials call for the "immediate closure" of Israel's skies due to "continued launches from Iran", according to Channel 13

No, I think it was the fact that you valued sheep a lot more than the killing of women and children.
    Now that is bizarre.

Iran released video claiming to show it hitting an F35. The US admits one was damaged but didn't say now. The US said the plane managed to land.

The Gulf states and Israel can be mad all they want but this specific threat by Iran is a direct response to the American threat. It's up to Trump now whether or not he follows through with his deadline and attacks.

In Iran's mind, the strait is open to countries and allies not attacking it, the same as it was open a few weeks ago to countries not attacking it. It's their water really, the same as the water next to Florida is America's.

The fact it's their waters is just how it is. They don't belong to everyone just because everyone was using them. If their oil infrastructure gets destroyed, the outcome will be their income coming from toll fees for using the strait and the part along their coast.

All of this was self-inflicted by the US and Israel. Iran had warned months ago that this would be their response. Negotiations were taking place and the UK were present and said they were going very well and Iran was making a lot of concessions. Iran didn't force this outcome on the world. It was negotiating under duress and was apparently playing ball. And they got attacked during negotiations twice in something like six months.

Exactly the same nonsense as people who go around talking how we need fighter jets and army and to belong to military alliance. That kind of nonsense.

“The fact it's their waters is just how it is. They don't belong to everyone just because everyone was using them.”

There is no need to invent geographical facts that don’t match reality

The fact is only half of the strait is in their waters the rest belongs to Oman (neutral country Iran attacked) and UAE

Here is a map from Wikipedia to set the “facts” straight, notice where the borders lie

Extra funny as you thanked the factually incorrect nonsense pushing the “might is right” narrative post directly preceding yours

"There is no need to invent geographical facts that don’t match reality"

The realpolitik reality is they are Iran's waters. They exercise control over it and the ships go along their coast before getting to the strait. Oman helps America so they are not neutral, but as has been pointed out to you a million times, you don't understand this.

This is an example of a path taken by a tanker from Kuwait:

    image.png

I don't know if that's necessary to hug Iran or if the ships can hug the southern side, but it's largely irrelevant. They are Iran's waters and they were open a few weeks ago and now they are not.

All of this was forced on them so they are obviously going to exercise every tool they have, and that is the strait and attacking America's allies who you claim to be neutral.

Again trying to invent facts to suit a narrative to defend Iran and which goes against the fact that most of the tanker traffic in the strait sticks to the southern side which is not in Irans waters, here is density map from 2024

    IMG_6711.jpeg

As for your comment about “exercising every tool they have” well then don’t get upset when Israel does just that in Lebanon or US might potentially in a few weeks do by seizing islands here and implementing a blockade, sure they only “exercising every tool” they have because in this multi polar world Iran, Russia, N. Korea etc wanted “might is right” /S

we either live in a world with rules and laws were neutrality of little countries and freedom of navigation is respected or we live in a world where likes of Iran are bombed back to the Stone Age

If the United States does bomb the power grid in Iran i presume that would be them giving up on regime change, as this would result in an extraordinary amount of civilian casualties in the long term.

"we will plunge region into darkness... say goodbye to electricity" head of iranian parliament response to trumps ultimatum …

Sometimes you have to 'escalate to de-escalate', US treasury secretary says

looks like two cars playing chicken at the minute and neither are for swerving

I'm just stating it how it is. Iran controls the strait of Hormuz and shipping through it. They are more Iran's waters than they are America's or Israel's.

The belligerent asshóles in this war are Israel and America. My point is that it's only closed because of their actions. If they attack tens of thousands of targets in Iran, then Iran is obviously going to think it's ok to threaten their ships and their allies' ships. They aren't required to keep their attacks inside their own geographical boundaries.

Do you think America should attack Iran's energy infrastructure when the exact repercussions to the region are laid out like this? America isn't even at any risk whatsoever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭bored65

Glad we finally agreed it’s not all their waters and factual reality has been reconfirmed

Tho no need to speak as if Iran is gonna do it at some point of future point, Iran has already attacked neutral shipping including sinking ironically enough a Russian dark fleet tanker first

Once again we in Ireland should not be cheering for either side in this nor regurgitating this might is right rules don’t matter narratives coming out of both sides, and especially not defending attacks on small neutral non belligerent states neutral shipping

If this war doesn’t end soon the whole region is gonna resemble Gaza and outside of a single example earlier in this thread I doubt normal people get excited at the prospect of millions of refugees being created

None of the gulf states are neutral.

If Shannon's being used by the US then we're not 100% neutral either.

What Iran is going now is their nuke, their MAD, and it is arguably more effective on the world stage. I want it to work so Israel and America gets it out of their heads to ever attack them again. I want Israel to stop expanding its territories and for all of the Hezbollah / Houthi etc. stuff to end.

I prefer that Iran be successful with this now, in 2026, even though it affects me personally. I want Israel and America to stop doing what they are doing. It isn't a Trump thing. It happened under Biden as well. It has happened forever. It is better for Iran to neuter it now in some way than for it to continually get worse and then Iran does end up with a nuke.

Iran has been attacked twice in less than a year during negotiations. Trump threw away a previous agreement. This entire debacle, even October 7th, is all Israel and America's doing. If Israel weren't so against Palestine being its own country, they wouldn't have supported Hamas which triggered all of this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

The entire plan for Iran seems to be to turn them into North Korea, just ruin them economically and infrastructurally. North Korea got nukes eventually and so will Iran if America and Israel are successful. There won't be a regime change and they will work towards it to protect themselves knowing negotiations mean getting attacked. The West behaves like shítty CEOs thinking of quarterly profits instead of long-term growth.

If Trump can get the price of oil down, hes out of there. It won't matter that he achieved nothing other than killing an old man and a few hundred kids.

They all come across as reasonable and intelligent when compared to the apes running the US and Israel.

So how come Israel was not attacking Iran before 1979?

If by "a puppet" you mean a regime that did not seek the destruction of Israel, and wasn't funding terrorist armies to further this objective?

If you're going to claim that the quarrel between Israel and Iran is a "two way street" as some have, you need to show that both have the same objective - the complete destruction of the other sides' nation and people.

So far, like the "Greater Israel" conspiracy theory, there's been no evidence of that.

Exactly which word showed "cheer", "cheerful" or "cheering"?

(Why do I bother…I'll get the same rubbish back)

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

What a confusing and vague post. And not even a remote attempt to have relevance or answer questions in my post that you responded to. All I can say is, strange. It was like someone asked you the time and you responded with a recipe for seafood chowder. Daft stuff.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?
