Ah you can always count on West Ham to make your day a little bit worse. That was our chance to put the pressure on Forest. They'll probably get the new manager bounce against Liverpool tomorrow and we're back to 5 behind.

After Liverpool beat Notts Forest 0-1. Crazy VAR ending in injury time. Great for us. But Perieira is a decent manager, so not so good.

Or whoever you copied those fixtures off needs one, West Ham absolutely do not have 7 remaining home fixtures 😉

And Villa, 3 of your next 4 away…it's not that hard to look up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭geographica

    we have 6 home games

guy made a mistake, stop being a dick 🙄

    😄

Yeah, like I said, I need a secretary.

Point is, points will be hard to get for both teams, so despite looking good of late, we need Forest to gain less ground than us.

5 home 6 away …no pts are on offer for a home game in the cup, thankyou for your attention to this matter

    lineup.png

The go-to line-up - with Pablo being injured, Soucek in. Away to Liverpool though, to try to secure a crucial point, Soucek might be dropped into a midfield 3. He might be even be sacrificed, for Todibo to go between Disasi and Mavropanos.

Looks like Santo wants to load up the midfield to snuff out build-up, but where it can easily switch to a 4-2-3-1 on the attack. West Ham used to be disastrous in terms of a goal against them easily achieved with sustained attack in the first 15 minutes of a game. That's vastly improved, and now they score the most in the Premiership in the first-half, without conceding much, whereas Liverpool have been slow to start, with many of their goals occurring in the last 15 minutes including injury-time. I would imagine Santo's plan is to try to score early then defend. The latter part, as we all know is the most frustrating part of the Hammers' game.

Yet again, another joke of a performance in Anfield.

FFS. 3 set-pieces to make it 3-0 in the first half. It's not as if the coaching staff haven't been unaware of this Achille's heel for some time now.

2 goals apiece in the second half meant the first-half set-piece disaster was our undoing. Fairly consistent attacking, but apart from the 2 goals, some great chances in front of goal squandered. Those set-piece issues may be what get us relegated, especially when crucial points from draws against the biggest clubs are missed. Looking at Notts Forest to slip up worse than we do is a dismal, fretful and demoralizing prospect.

You have to feel that our last chance is tonight. Assuming that Forest lose to Man City, if we're not out of the relegation zone by tonight, that's us done for. We can't keep relying on Forest and Spurs not picking up wins.

There will be a few more twists and turns but yes it’s a kind set of fixtures tonight Fulham away and Forest at Man City. It would also be a massive psychological boost to get out of the relegation zone

Great result, albeit I nearly had a heart attack watching the last ten minutes - City did us no favours…

My god, we actually held onto a narrow lead! But if course Man City sh!t the bed against Forest which means we stay in the relegation zone on goal difference. While it would be objectively hilarious if Spurs were to go down, I just cannot see them continuing to be as bad as they've been. I think they'll pick up a win tonight and gradually pull away from the drop zone in the remaining 9 games.

The pessimism is still telling me that we left ourselves with too much to do. We've gotten 14 points in our last 8 games (same amount as in the previous 21 games) which would translate to top 5 over the course of the season. But we're still in the bottom three. Just think we'll run out of steam towards the end of the season.

Could not care less about Brentford on Monday. Play the reserves and good luck to them in the quarter finals. Bad thing for us is that we've Man City next in the league and we'll likely roll out the welcome mat as we always do. Haven't beaten them since 2015 and our last point against them was 2022.

Even though there was 7 changes to the now-standard line-out from last game, not pleased that it had to go to extra-time and then penalties - despite the mainly leisurely pace (except for speedy Gonzales Pablo who was haring about the place until replaced in the 60 minute) : everyone was shagged by the end of it, which is not good when we have to face man City on Saturday, and still in the process of trying leap-frog other teams battling for survival as well. Yeah, they have Champions league on Wednesday, but they have a far bigger squad with better players.

My heart sank when Mavs stepped up against Kelleher for the potentially winning peno, but I punched the air when he rifled it into the top corner. Through to the quarter finals in a few weeks, at home against Leeds.

With Kelleher's record on penalties, I was sure we'd be out. But they were probably five of the best penalties I've ever seen in a shootout. Similarly, I was wondering why Dino was taking the last one but his was the best of the lot!

Not ideal playing 120+ min but it'll surely do good for morale to win a shootout. And now we've got a home game against Leeds to potentially make a Wembley semi final. Also, we always capitulated against Man City, so that's probably not going to make any difference to the result.

One concern is Summerville's injury towards the end of extra time.

Spirit on and off the pitch looks sky high - that's got to be good for the run in

    FA Cup quarter-final

    Sunday 5 April 2026

    • 4.30pm – West Ham United v. Leeds United on TNT Sports 1 and HBO Max

There was a time when I'd see Mav's name on the teamsheet and roll my eyes in expectation of an inevitable howler. Now he's a stalwart. Great to see Hermandsen come back from the dead as well and show how good he is.

I'd say all Hammers' hearts sank when that cross floated in to the top corner. Yes it was a cross. Tonight, they were staunch against a City desperate to catch up to Arsenal.

Was thinking the same thing about Dino

I think he was close to being out the door for a time. I had yesterday down as a guaranteed loss, so the point was an excellent surprise. Also great to get out of the relegation zone, even if it's likely just for a day. If we can get a win against Villa who've lost a bit of form, with Spurs playing Forest next weekend, we'll almost certainly be clear.

With Summerville still out, Pablo needs to show there's more to him than huff and puff.

With Leeds drawing last night, it's still a 4 horse race to get/stay above the finish line.

With Todibo injured right before the match, the planned back three converted to a makeshift back four. Regardless, hardly a sniff of a point against a rejuvenated Villa, so a crucial point with a do-able draw lost. Hardly turned up in the first half, sluggish and inaccurate, better in the second, but after the second goal, no chance. Marvelous Mavs preventing a rout - what a transformation he's had.

Notts Forest pulling away, with their win against a Spurs team in free-fall; hopefully that trajectory will continue and they sail past us into the Championship.
