I'm putting together a bit of a jaunt for myself and two mates. I was looking at getting the Dart from Tara St. to Greystones, but it's 25 years since I was on that train.

Anybody got info about the prospect of getting 3 full sized bikes on that service at the weekend? Is there even space for that. Any insight at all would be appreciated.

As a start (in case you haven't seen it), here's the official information from Irish Rail

Also A fairly nice spin on the bikes from Tara St to Greystones & then get the dart back ? Won't be a problem on a Saturday.

Thanks, I have the official word all right, it's just the practicality of getting 3 bikes on.

@mvt what route would you suggest from Tara to the coast for 2 fellas who aren't on bikes that much? I I'd be happy enough blipping around the streets in Dublin, and I've used the cycle lane from Blackrock into town, which would be a nice spin.

Also, once you're passed Sandycove, what route would be best for fairly novice cyclists? Again, I'd have no problems taking most routes, but I'd like it to be as pleasant and experience as possible for the other 2.

Go through Blackrock Park, come out by the Dart Station , continue to Seapoint, Dun laoirge ,Sandycove , Dalkey, up Vico Road, turn left at the top at the Graduite pub, straight down to Shanhill, through Bray & up over the wind gates & drop down to Greystones.

A couple of decent climbs & descents but this is a lovely route

Basically keep the sea on your left.

It's a very bike friendly route but will test the legs in places.

You are thinking of the Druids chair. The graduate is by the shopping centre.
