Offaly are in the Tailteann already, unless they get to the Leinster final. The League rankings put the two promoted from 3 above the two relegated from 2.

It's a great competition. It would be improved significantly if they got rid of finals IMHO.

i actually think winning a division 3 or 4 league final in croke park is more important than a Tailteann cup , look at all the counties that have benefited from winning there from that level , monaghan , cavan, clare, louth , roscommon , ect

Division 2 counties have gone on to have a strong run in the All Ireland. Similarly the top Division 4 counties can go on a strong run in the Tailteann. Limerick won Division 4 and made Tailteann final. Wicklow were 3rd in Division 4 last year and made Tailteann semi finals. Looking at current Division 4 table - 7 of the 8 should be confident going into the Tailteann that making Croke Park semi finals is a achievable.

There is no seeding this year in the Tailteann, it is a straight open draw. In the system existing for the last 3 years, the final was contested each time by a Seed 1 v a Seed 2. A bit more jeopardy/opportunity possible with the open draw?

any tips on where to park in salthill todsy ? Ideally somewhere I can not be stuck in bad traffic to get home to Dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,726 ✭✭✭Benedict XVI

Without being smart, nowhere near Salthill.

It's a good few years since I drove to a match in Salthill but the last time I parked on the street around Grattan Rd.

It's a bit of a walk but close to the city also and you can get back on the road to Dublin by going through the city which should not be as crowded as the other routes out of Salthill.

    Setting off for Mayo-Roscommon shortly.

What's the best website/twitter page/whatever for keeping up with GAA scores around the country?

Last time I parked a bit away, but I can’t remember the exactly where!

There’s an app called score Beo I use,

Sam Mulroy is killing Kildare here. Every time they look like getting back into he kicks a 2.

And a goal saving block as well. That should be MOM wrapped up with 20 left.

That's five from Ulster in Division 2 next year. Just waiting on Armagh to make it six. Very small crowd in Omagh from what I could see on TV. Carlow and Longford promoted from Division 4.

Absolutely incredible scenes in Wexford Park, with Wexford scoring a goal with the last kick of the game to seal promotion. Haven't heard a roar like it in years. My gawd

Brennan acting the hard man after halftime and pulling at the Galway goalie (from behind) in the middle of a bit of handbags. Gurrier stuff, stay off the pitch - they should throw the book at him. Lots of players for involved in the bit of handbags, but for officials like Brennan to get involved is a bad look and should be punished severely.

Very bad look for Brennan there at halftime.

AArmagh V Kerry is a cracker. Kerry 10 to 0 up against a very passive Armagh. Behind now and Armagh far more in their face.

Illdisclipine costing Dublin in the 2nd half- 2 dumb cards for O'Coffaigh Beirne freed up the Galway fullback as an extra man and he was a big difference. But then again, when your manager is getting involved in handbags and off the ball stuff,he can't complain.

Deserved win on the day for Galway, but again PJ more worried about distracting about lads NOT playing than about some good performances on the field

Tough D2 next year. Dublin. Monoghan, Derry and Tyrone looking for 2 promotion spots and Louth will be looking as well

    Slava Ukrainii

I read there was only 141 people at Semple Stadium for the Div 4 game of Tipp v Waterford football match. Incredible

Longford win over wicklow seemed very exciting. Wicklow running away with it early on

I wouldn't bring anyone's faith or religion into it,but Brennan should have the book thrown at him .

Normally, from memory, a red card like this for a non player/team official is much longer from that of a player, I'd know of lads over the years who were sent off for minor infractions (one lad was maor uisce and for sent off for squirting water at an opponent, missed 3 months of the championship ). There will be different rules for Ger I guess, but that's how it should be AFAIK.

There were two tangoing today, but that's not important, officials have no place running onto he field swinging.

Laois ended Down's chance to go unbeaten in the league.

Laois could of been in the hunt for promotion but they failed to hold on when winning in 3 matches.

Wexford were the only team in all the divisions with 14 points last year. And they achieved another promotion today. Interesting times in Leinster football now with Dublin on the decline. The Division 3 final will be a proper game, giving Louth a chance to evaluate Wexford. Down beat them well in the League game. Both teams will be hoping to avoid coming straight back down next year, the fate which befell Offaly and Kildare today. And Down and Westmeath in the previous campaign.

The venue for the Louth Wexford game on 19 April could be up for discussion. There should be a good demand from Wexford fans for tickets? It is currently listed as To Be Confirmed, and Drogheda or Ardee might not pass muster with the CCCC?

I find it very odd that Roscommon did not try and reach the league final.

They had to beat Mayo and hope other things fell their way like Armagh beating Kerry or Monaghan beating Donegal.

    The former nearly happened.

But instead Roscommon put out a weakened team and took a hammering from Mayo.

It's not as if Roscommon get the chance to play in national finals that often.

Plus they don't play until two weeks after the final, and that is v New York which lets be honest goes down as a win.

I find it very strange that a management deny the players and fans from a fringe county a crack at a national title, they are overthinking it.

Roscommon made 9 changes from last week.Mayo made 8.It was the B team of both counties.Mayo have much more strength and depth.

Roscommon should have been going all out to win that game.

Roscommon going straight back down would have been the bookies favourite. Being able to sit back and look at Galway, Armagh and Dublin dealing with last day jeopardy is a nice place to be. There were no weak teams in Division 1. Next year with Cork and Meath having no recent experience in the Division, Roscommon should be able to consolidate their position as a Division 1 team. The ususal sentiment here is that most counties try to avoid being in the Final.

On the other side it is a bit of a disaster for Tyrone and Derry not to come straight back up. And the Armagh v Tyrone game in Ulster in three weeks time, looks like having only one winner at present, Armagh.
