How is your recovery going @seanin4711?

    thanks for asking Mojo

Mid January 25 - CX race fractured fibula and dislocated left ankle (foot pointing at 9am instead of 12 o clock) - cast three months - muscle wastage - priority was ROM in ankle and building up left quad/calf etc.

Back on the bike a few weeks after the cast came off(turbo easy)

A month later outside for 1hr spins.

Physio is key - trying to do it religiously and still doing it plus i am 53 and need all the flexibility i can muster!

As is regular gym work, pilates, yoga, cold water therapy(lake) etc - i literally have tried everything which seems to be working.

Back for club TT league in May/June(just about) and "rode" TT nationals in Monaghan.

Priority for winter is running and loose a few kgs.

Back running 6 months after accident late June - not great but a start. Ankle swells up a touch but activation before and rehab after are now as important as the run itself. Streets of Galway completed without stopping(had #5 5/6km runs on treadmill beforehand- that was it)

I have one 10km a month in calendar to focus training on with a view to go sub 50mins in Athenry 26th Dec.

Club spins on a Sunday 100km approx and turbo twice a week.

Would i go back CX'ing? - i have unfinished business in Ballinasloe fair green next January!

Not enough hours in the day lol!

    for next year

Calpe April & possibly a deferred Fred Whitton in May & DCM Oct 26

*** almost forgot mizen to malin 3 day Aug BH weekend for NBCRI charity

    Onwards and upwards!

    Vaison-la-Romaine

A group of 10 of us spent 9 days there last Aug/Sept - aside from the obvious draw of Ventoux, also did spins through the Gorge de la Nesque, went south to the Luberon valley and lots of lovely hilltop village (Bonnieux, Menerbes etc.) and had a great long day out west in the Gorges de l'Ardeche, did a figure of 8 loop through the Dentelles de Montmirail - stunning area all round, close to Ventoux but not dominated by it (as Bedoin and Malaucene are to a large degree), lots of rolling countryside covered in vines with spectacular views and generally quiet well-surfaced roads

It helped greatly that we had 8 sunny days out of 9 so got all of our planned spins done - Vaison itself is a very pleasant perfect-sized town with easy access, lots of eating/drinking/accomm options etc.

    Can't recommend it highly enough

Flew to Nimes with return minibus connection - bikes & baggage went over in hired van……..split across 10 people, costs were minimal considering the area, time of year, quality of accomm etc.

Croatia is stunning. Have only done very short spins. Coast road Split to Dubrovnik is extremely busy, to be avoided.

Where are you going. Recommend Dugi Otok for unbelievable views, swimming, boat tours.

June will be hot. Bring your sea shoes , the water is sublime.

Gang of us heading to Cambrils in May. Two good bike rental shops Rodabikes and Eitizinger. Cycling is reportedly very good according to two of our group.
