Asking Leavitt if it's true that the U.S is aware of any complicity by the Russians in the death of service personnel in Iran by providing Iran with intelligence or weaponry and pinning her down to a direct answer, telling her that any evasion by her would lead to her being the headlines that day. Force her to be honest or carry the tag of being complicit in Russian involvement in the deaths of U.S service people. The military have enough **** being loaded onto their plate by Trump.

Very True. I recall debate around that time that creationism should be given equal weight to science in schools at the time. This has been brewing for decades in the US.

You have to wonder if the seeds of some of the current Conservative US attitudes were brought over by a certain group of settlers that share the same ancestry as JD Vance. Some of the hallmarks are noticably similar.

I don't think there's any lows that Trump could stoop to that would see him removed from office. He's a convinced felon and rapist. He's all over thr Epstein files. Even if a video emerged off him from this it still wouldnt take him down.

He knows this now. He's pretty much untouchable. No one will speak out against him .

The one and only way Trump does not see out his term and potentially serve a third is if he's medically unfit to do so or dies.

MAGA is a cult . It's pretty unsettling watching this unfold in front of our very eyes and seeing American society unravelling the way it is. So divisive.

I have relations in USA that will not openly speak negatively about Trump in public settings or places for fear of being harmed by MAGA loons. They just do not speak about him outside of the family home

I think we're all still coming to terms with what Trump appeared to know a decade ago:- "I could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and I wouldn't lose any voters. OK? OK?"

I mean… people like to say he's dumb, but that particular quote sounds more prescient with each passing year, doesn't it?

And while the response to this is generally to point to tanking approval ratings, it's worth remembering that aside from the MAGA cult who will really follow him off a cliff (or rather jump off a cliff at his behest, because no way is he missing golf at Mar a Lago), there is the whole other bloc who'll hold their nose and vote for him, such is their hatred or fear of 'the other side'. Trump has been a serious contender in 3 general elections, now, and has increased his vote total in each one, despite everything known about him, a fraction of which would utterly sink pretty much any other political career. Think about that.

Far from crashing out of politics due to this scandal or that, as his critics have predicted at every turn, he is (or rather his advisors piggybacking on his caché with voters) successfully engineering the end of American democracy, made himself pretty much impossible to prosecute and vastly increased his own personal fortune. I despise him as much as most here, but you cannot say he's not been effective in pursuing his goals, here.

But he's no longer just unfortunate for Americans. Across the world, we'll be bearing the brunt of his ignorance as energy prices shoot up due to this utterly insensible war with Iran.

My daughter graduates in a couple of months. Only 1 of the 20 odd US students are going back and that 1 is likely temporary. Usually it's about half that return.

Totally unsurprising response from Trump. It will be forgotten in a few days as a newer comment or action will take the headlines. The depth of disgusting bile that eminates from his gob on a regular basis knows no limit and the reality that it is acceptable for a head of state of the USA to speak and act like he does, shows that we have passed the rubicon into something far more troubling than just political division. It speaks to a normalisation of behaviour that would once have been disqualifying, not just controversial. It is sad that it is all now just background noise, another day another Trump crass and disgusting comment.

Fox News host Steve Hilton is running in the Californian gubernatorial election. He is leading in one poll but the problem he will have is that its a jungle primary, so candidates are splitting the vote and it goes to a second round where I personally doubt the Republicans will win. State elections are less predictable than Federal ones but the demographics heavily favour Democrats. I think about two thirds of the population is not non-Hispanic White. There was also a defection of many Hispanic males to Trump in 2024, though evidence from some special elections and polls recently shows a fall off.

Noting in return? What a complete a$$hole? As we all they they are the only ones that ever invoked article 5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭dePeatrick

    I haven’t verified that yet.

    edit: It’s fake

Sorry about that, fake though it was very believable.

Article 5 has been invoked only once in NATO history, after the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001.

For what it's worth, this is from Wikpedia: Following the September 11 attacks, the Secretary General of NATOGeorge Robertson telephoned Colin Powell and said that declaring an Article 5 contingency would be a useful political statement for NATO to make. The United States indicated it had no interest in making such a request itself; however, it would not object to the council taking such action on its own

So those ungrateful Europeans offered an Atricle 5 declaration themselves: they didn't even have to be asked. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, MAGA.

The problem with making statements like that is that you set yourself up to make a decision, that will need some follow through. Altough he is TACO, he might decide to follow through. Such a shitshow.

Attacking power plants is a war crime isn't it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭dePeatrick

Afaik yes, 24 hours after he said he wouldn’t!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 562 ✭✭✭pad406

I honestly don't think he can remember what he said 2 hours ago. He's completely lost it

I would say "let us hope Trump is dead by June" but for me, June is much too far away.

I've said it for over a decade now but social media platforms need to be reigned in. It's in their best interest to promote outrage material as it's the most likely thing to keep people engaged. They've been farming our information and using it against us for so long and now it just fuels division, anger and hatred.

I know it's not the sole problem but it's a huge amplifier, especially when the reality is we're all being pitted against each other so the rich can rob us blind. The more unstable things are the bigger the transfer of wealth, look at 2008, covid, Ukraine... every times there a shock more wealth and power is drained from the normal every day person. They control the media and they control social media, the goal is to farm engagement to keep the shareholders and boards happy.

I would bet every penny I have, that when Trump kicks the bucket (which I think is not completely unlikely during this term, given how unhealthy and old he is), and a section of people inevitably celebrate or say they are glad, there will be a slew of high profile US republicans criticising those people.

They will evangelise as to how the left and right are allegedly different, and how "the right" don't celebrate death, while completely ignoring this latest repugnance from Trump.

    Hypocrites and cowards, all.

If any normal person acted like Thrump is now then their family would have them checked out to be sure that their not having a brain problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 531 ✭✭✭interlocked

This is escalating out of control. Trump is a puppet, too stupid as to have any idea as to what's driving this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 562 ✭✭✭pad406

Any sensible family would skip the 'checking them out' and skip straight to commital

Ah but it’s ok because he hasn’t actually done it yet. You’re allowed to say you’ll do a war crime (and actually do some other war crimes) without it being an issue, or so I’ve been told on this thread by someone of authority

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,282 ✭✭✭bog master

That is Presidential, eloquent, and compassionate.

Don't worry. We all have it on good authority here that the military won't act on illegal orders, so we can rest easy knowing that /s

I can't decide when he does whether they should dump him at sea like Bin Laden, so there can't be a golden shrine (because you know that's what he would want) or a grave so that we can have the world's largest gender neutral toilet.
