I swore really loud and forgot I was been recorded 🤣I got pure thick , I might have gave the people on the other side a laugh. These campaigns are a joke. They use it as a easy way to filter people and even when u get an interview you could be 2 years waiting or never get called. I know someone no1 for a different campaign and there still waiting since before Christmas like how,.?you'd really want to just apply and totally forget about it and then outta the blew ya might get called

100% This, my sample type didn't show on my actual test but I assume there are multiple tests that vary.

    @Capyberna

Sorry to hear you struggled. I found the time quite tight as well.

Hopefully your other tests are enough to get you over the line for a decent OOM, and when the time comes, you can explain your errors in an interview. I think in an interview if you were able to acknowledge what you did wrong, and how you would answer differently given another chance, they'd pass you.

At the 3rd numerical question I kept saying I'm gonna fail out loud 🙈

Are they actually recording sound? was your microphone on.?

Don't think so. Just making sure you are physically in front of the camera and somebody else said at some point, it's probably not even being reviewed by a natural human.

No idea if sound is being recorded, it’s really just making sure it’s the same person that’s why the ID check gets verified. Seen people on Reddit complaining it’s taking ages.. can people not read instructions.. they also monitor your screen

i doubt it are they going to go through 1000's of people - i had to let my dog in and out of the kitchen to the back during it - i hardly think theyre going to unless they suspect something

Does It prompt you at the start of the exam to scan the room? I'll probably forget

I’m doing it to tonight when the house is quiet. Definitely if you’re running out of time in future exams just guess the last few, you never know.

Yes, AP in father’s office said 9 only required, several of posters in these past threads over the years also, and the sample test has a threshold of 8 to score to pass.

You can’t exceed the time limit for EO!

You need to enter the scan section, it’s above the assessment you click on.

The prompt is beside the test, its 15 seconds each for your work space, in front, behind, to your left to your right.

    Thank you @freakeystyley

I’m not too worried if I don’t get this or don’t get a decent OOM. Thankfully have applied to the CO, Dublin Courts Co, and EFSA trainee competitions.

Yeah, I’m sure they’d understand people are under time pressure and can’t write at their best standard. Some here said it wasn’t even discussed in interview but it is definitely marked as part of your 2 competencies.

Of course, I would prefer this given more responsibility and a little better pay.

Completely lost track of time during the written assessment so task 2 was an absolute disaster and not sure i reached the limit on it! My own fault 😑 does anyone know is it an automatic fail if I don't reach the word count on the second task? If I did get the word count is it only assessed at the interview? Thanks all. The whole process is utterly draining 😴

I also unsure if I hit the word count for one of the parts. Booklet says minimum of 100 per part (200 total) or it’s disqualified but who knows!

Not entirely sure for the second part of your question! I imagine our scores on the two competencies of the interview will be dragged down though, so we’d not get the best OOM.

The written assessment is only for the interview, it’s checking you know the role of an EO and how you dealt with the scenario.
It’s all luck of the draw olenty of people can guess there way into a great OOM. Don’t be worrying. If it’s your first time apply for CS you now know what the process is like and those assessments aren’t as difficult as some make out, time management!!

    Thank you @Glitteringstar

Yes, the assessments were honestly grand and the practice tests were more challenging I think. It’s just the time management like you said.

I do feel Public Jobs make the whole ID verification and test procedure more complicated/stringent than it actually is.

Thank you to everyone on the thread for all being so supportive of each other. It’s not easy in terms of how slow the Civil Service moves and the uncertainty of getting places/doing well in the assessments, but having this support network of people from around the country of all backgrounds and stages of life has been very encouraging!

Very late post. Just finished up the maths. Overall I thought it was very nice. Ran out of time on the last 2 questions and would’ve guessed a couple (some of the digger equipment questions).

Excluding the digger equipment questions, there wasn’t any excessive reading to the remaining questions.

Unless I’ve really misinterpreted, I feel I definitely would’ve passed.

Like others said, they felt too basic, even towards the end with the last few questions, the majority were simple.

The practice test was very helpful as the same principles came up. If you study the practice test, you’ll adapt to answering a good portion of the questions in this.

Delighted to be finished! It’s been a month applying to 3 competitions.

    Post-exam drinks anyone? Haha.

Same is happening me. Did you find any workaround?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,802 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Are you on a work PC/Laptop? I know some government departments had to update their firewall to allow employees to use the hardware to complete the tests.

I emailed them and it's now working on Chrome. The issue was happening on both a work and personal laptop. Was hoping to do the VR last night but it was too late before it was resolved. A bit of a balls but there's still plenty of time left to complete.

As for the test provider a serious bollocking should ensue.

I can't get into exams either saying unsafe I'm using my personal laptop and I've already done numerical and SJ the other day no problem. I kinda sick of it now and because it's Sunday we won't get a response until 11am onwards. Doing them tomorrow and Tuesday isn't an option either I'm away with work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭Larryduff2018

They sure need a smack on the wrists I set aside this morning to do them and now I can't get into them on personal laptop, have Verbal and SJ done since other day. I'm pissed off now clock ticking no response yet from assessment people and I've to head off at 12. Loosing the will with these exams now there frustrating enough without this barrier. Maybe this is part of the test how will we cope Lol

I got the same error, you have to click on the more info drop down, then click continue to unsafe site. Works like normal then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,935 ✭✭✭Cape Clear

Send an email I got a pretty fast response at 7:45 last night. It's a technical issue so by right the test supplier should always be on hand in my view.

I got sorted with the link then got an error with room scan but got in and got it done just abit of a pain wasted and hour trying to get into the exams.

That was my workaround too. I'm working off my own laptop and I assume it was MS being overcautious. I just wanted to get them out of the way
