i was hoping for a losing bonus point at least not now Im afraid as I said a while ago on this site we are a challenge Cup team standard and that's about it. My Grandkids have arrived so its time for some family time I'm out 😎

the only highlight of the game for Munster was Dalys tackle on the 13

Serious questions of all the coaches. Each player looks progressively worse as the season goes on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,034 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

We raised questions of coaches in the past, we've changed coaches, even had a world cup winning coach with us at one point.

I think it's time we started placing the blame on the players instead of the coaches

They dont have the tools to execute the game they are trying to play though. And the set piece is a disaster

No improvement anywhere with Munster players, all have regressed.

Even Connacht finally look better under Lancaster.

    This is dreadful nonsense.

How do you coach dropping balls..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭Pepp1989

the whole squad regressing is a coincidence so is it? Im talking this season alone. From where we were to where we are. The performances we are seeing are an all time low from a munster team imo.

What do people think is well coached with this munster team? What do we do well?

The man heading off to Bath can be credited with getting the attack moving much better. At times our quick phase play & sharp handling has caused problems for a lot of teams

The issue is there no consistency with this & alot of our other play

would your grandkids be available to tog out against the Bulls next week?

Munster need to do what Ulster did in the last 2 or 3 years

Honestly don't know where to start with this.

They couldn't have had a bigger block of time together granted without the internationals.

Feels like another season slipping away again which I could live with if you could see the incremental improvements but there is v little.

No doubt there will be a big win somewhere yet, prob on the road & it'll be all back slaps & isn't the Munster way great yada yada

    Its b$llocks at this stage

The rumour is that is what's happening this summer. We'll see I suppose.

Im in again love short visits . I'm a massive Munster fan since my days living in Limerick in the 70s . But this is so heartbreaking to watch. People on here accusing Andy and Co. not giving more Munster lads a chance. Like Andy all we can go is what is produced on the field . Since Christmas its been Dismal Jack and Tadhg are lucky the havent been affected by this malaise. Surely the Coaches give their best to these players but that performance would cause any coach to say" Ah here lads are ye having a laugh" Tadhg my grandson is a bit young Im afraid. Maye Prendergast has seen the writing and said his adieus . Its on the players not any body else's to redeem this situation.

If JJ is second best to Crowley????????

    Three things for me.

    1. The squad is getting weaker year on year. Fellas retiring or leaving and being replaced with worse or not at all. Young players starting to appear but not ready. There is a whole section of a squad missing. Good pros in their late 20s.

    2. Coaching. This is the worst run of performances in a long long time since that implosion after halftime in nov. The players are not as bad as they are performing. These are professional players who cant even catch a ball for gods sake. Something is seriously wrong there.

    3. Utter neglect of front row for many many seasons. This was irfu led.

I hate the erosion of what is Munster and basic standards. New lows made time and again. The "guess who" reveal of barrons contract extension was laughable. He is an average player.

Getting nilled and shipping half a century nearly to the team in 11th is just a disgraceful performance.

On your third point, what's the story with Ronan Foxe? He seems to be barely getting a look in. He was the same u20s year as Paddy Mccarthy and looked good at the time but their exposure and development has been chalk and cheese since.

If you're going to be struggling at scrum time anyway, why not give him the minutes instead of John Ryan?

On point 3, it's not IRFU led. Its on Munster and munster alone. Signing a load of springboks or whatever solution Munster wanted isnt going to fix the problem of not developing anyone.

    A new low for Munster.

A very dark day. The worst Province in the country currently.

Didn't take long for the IRFU to get the blame for that performance.

Whatever the reason for today's capitulation is, it won't be solved on boards this evening.

I'll give this thread a wide berth and let the usuals go for it...

McMillan came in and probably had Leamy ,prendergast and lawlor forced on him for this year …McMillan needs to be allowed bring his own coaching team and rest above released …then there’s the squad .a tight head prop is a must as well as a back up to Crowley ….butler isn’t been given a chance and Jj has had more chances can he deserves …to loose is bad but you’d get over it but not even register a score and that performance ….not acceptable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,785 ✭✭✭50HX

McMillan came in knowing the current coaches were staying put.

I think they will be looking at Wood more often before reverting to Butler

Butler hasnt been given chance because he isnt ready/able/good enough to step up

Wont say anything on the game as not seen it yet

Munster's last 5 games of the season are Bulls (a), Treviso (a), Ulster (h), Connacht (a), Lions (h). That's not an easy run in.

It's usually around 48 or 50 points to get a top 8 finish and Munster are on 39 at the moment. 3 wins should get the top 8 finish, 2 wins and bonus points might be enough too, Bulls, Connacht, and Lions will also be looking for the top 8 finish, and Ulster will be pushing for a top 4 finish so plenty of rugby still left to be played.

I doubt many of us expected much from today when you see how the travel plans went but nether did we expect that performance.

Ref didn't help but the rub of the green wasn't going to win it for us either.

The other results in this round means the top of the table didn't change much but we need a huge improvement next week
