There was only ever one winner out of that group imo. Puck tried on the descent but once that failed it was game over. Pity she couldn't podium.

There is absolutely no evidence so far (that we're privy to) that Pogi has found a way to beat MVDP in this but I just have feeling he's going to to do it. I'm not sure there's anything he can't do with a bike and today and Roubaix will surely have been foremost in his mind since winning the WC.

That UAE team is ridiculous. You could make an arguement for any of them to be a team leader on the day.

    Pog and WvA down.

    Both a bit scratched up.

Chase on to get back on.

    Oh ffs.

Funny how some teams who hadn't stuck their nose in the wind all day are now at the front of the peleton driving hard to stop Pog getting back on.

Back at the front already but let's see what he has left. Suit and bike just about holding up.

That first gap on the Cipressa is absolutely mental. Ganna gone.

LOL at Pidcock doing 30m pulls before flicking the elbow. Pog need to let him hang

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,996 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

Thought Pidcock did well to stay with them. Also thought Del Toro's pull would be a bit longer as well.

Pidcock might wheelsuck to the win - he won't be dropped on the descent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,996 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

Absolutely. Pogi has to drop him. Equally, if he doesn't keep pushing, they might end up letting MVDP back up to them.

    Pidcock looking great

the motos in front giving draft are ridiculous

lol if pog finally manages to finish ahead of mvdp in this but is pipped by pidcock!

Some brave drone piloting given the power lines

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,384 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

Pog writing his own death warrant here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,996 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

Ah lads. If he comes back from that crash, finally drops MVDP and then wins after having to descend straight up against Pidcock everyone may as well give up for the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,996 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

    What a race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭LLamachara

haha. How did Pog win that.

Almost dropped Pidcock on the descent

Carlos Sainz there to see what real racing looks like...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,678 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

WvA almost done Pidcock a big favour. Pog really didn't look like he wanted to start that sprint so early.

Some ride from the whole podium.

I’ve said on here multiple times that I’m bored by his winning everything from 60km out, but today was terrific. Was cheering him on in the sprint

    That was class

Almost forgot what a monument is supposed to look like.

MSR last ~40k the last few years has been some of the best racing of the season. Much better than some other high profile demolition snoozefests - looking at you strade, rvv & lombardia

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,996 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

In fairness, if Pogacar doesn't go down that probably plays out and awful lot differently, and considerably more boring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,384 ✭✭✭Mefistofelino

I think the break getting ~8 minutes and not getting caught until 28km to go would also have had a big impact on the race dynamics

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,678 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I don't know him going down kinda froze everyone. Riders that would normally be stuck to him when he attacks were all over the place. VdP and WvA had to chase back on to different degrees too after the crash.

Only 3 riders DNF at the end of it all- must be some kinda record for a monument; nevertheless a truly incredible final 30km, pure racing at its best. All 3 on the podium rode brilliantly, but the winner was outstanding once again. Possibly his best ever win.
