Yes it's like a large book and I'm only on first page too. Game looks insane and sounds great with head phones .Really immersive .Lets see if gameplay holds up. I seen some reviewers giving out about having hold A/X to run. All you have to do is double tap it !?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,956 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I read that too, I'd say they maybe patched it on release. You still need to tap it often if you want to sprint, but other games do thaylt too so don't see the issue. Too busy taking everything in to sprint anyway!

Put a few hours in last night and like what i see so far. Bar brief tutorial combat scene not seen a lot of action but enjoying the exploring and world they've created

Caved in at lunch time and bought. Its alright, 7/10 probably but really have not played enough to comment. Definity getting Witcher / RDR2 vibes, probably leaning a lot toward RDR2 in its slowness at times.  Its far from perfect but given 6 months and if the developers are interested  its going to so much better. With my very limited play time id advise to hold off playing if you can. Could be another cyberpunk SW:Outlaws scenarios, poor at launch and after work turned into great games.

Loving the world . Not left the opening area yet doing all side stuff there try and get used to the world/ mechanics. Going to play this slow so hopefully patches come out fast fix issues.

I think the game wants you to play slow. As mentioned above, it's like TW3/RDR2 but with some Risen jank for good measure. It works, none of it is broken as far as I can tell, but with further refinement it'll get better. Not complaining though, its more than enough right now.

Like Brady, I'm exploring the opening area a good bit to get to terms with the sheer amount of systems already available. And there's no real handholding. It does usher you through some early systems via quests, but a lot is left unmentioned (ring the bells, punch your horse). Experimentation is key, which is how I found out you can carry stuff and still use the horse, to hilarious scenes. One thing I haven't tried yet is kicking a kid, but I'm almost certain the option is there.

Hard to discuss it without spoilers tbh, one should experience this stuff for themselves. I'm hooked anyway. Gonna be a good weekend!

Accusations of AI artwork used in the game, particularly for wall art/paintings.

With everything else to do in game, staring at paintings is fairly low on my list! Hope it's just the paintings...

That hasn't hampered its sales, but those two million players are starting to stumble into some concerning issues in their first day in Pywel, including the presence of what some are saying may be AI-generated art assets

No, you gaming journalist you, it's not concerning at all, stop trying to sht on this game. AI tools are here to stay, and they may even have your job too.

About 4 hours in I think, so far I love it.

    Ign giving this a 6 is a joke .

The detail in the first town you get too make it more than a 6 without taking anything else into account. Messed around with it a bit more this evening, im really impressed with this, but have decided to take things easy, not race around chasing icons.

I've around 4.5 hours into this which is absolutely nothing, sticking around the first town so far and just after getting my wings. While the story isn't groundbreaking it does exist and I'm intrigued as to what happened and where everyone is, I actually don't mind cliff, he looks like he wouldn't talk much and he doesn't.

Completely overwhelmed as to where to go though, it's huge, feel like I'm afraid to leave the starting area

I thought it was funny in FightinCowboys YouTube video he was saying he was 110 hours into it but had not yet explored …..Crimson Desert section. The size is outrageous

I was thinking when I roaming around world with him I love how quiet he is compared to some one like Alloy who won't S F up. I love the game now but I can see why I start fighting more bosses I might be not be as high with it .

lol never been less surprised by a particular game featuring AI slop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,562 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Can I ask why we all care so much if a game has AI generated anything? Couldn't care less as long as it's good

Devs have confirmed they are doing a patch for controls. Feels like something that should have been corrected well before launch

    Going to start this today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,727 ✭✭✭recyclops

Hold on the main character is called Cliff 🤣 seems such an odd choice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,956 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I'm not overly bothered by AI use in stuff like that, unless the pictures are necessary for quests, etc. But just background filler, yeah it'd be cool if it was all handmade, but if its time well spent elsewhere and it doesn't impact the game in any way, meh. The weirdness kinda adds to the weirdness of the in game accepted world.

And the controls are grand, bit clunky but not unusable, thus my earlier Risen reference. I've explored a bit further but still in the first region, chapter 3. Still taking my time and checking out everything I see! There's no sense of urgency so taking your time is easier to accept compared to other open world games that make you feel like you should mainline the story.

I have had to restart the game a couple of times, once because I couldn't pick up something, and the other time enemies became immortal and I had unlimited stamina. But no other technical issues. Lighting is both amazing and needs work, especially with the reflections on shiny surfaces. There's a basic beta photo mode tucked in the options menu for those that use it. It doesn't look as good as Ghost of Yotei, but it still looks amazing in its own way.

Have you fought many bosses ?

According to the stats, 3. A human, a goblin and an automaton type thingy. I won't say they were hard, but I did eat a lot during the automaton fight, and used a revive pill a few times... 12ish hours, nothing massive yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,547 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Played the first hour. The controls are a valid criticism. Simple stuff like speaking to a character involves more buttons than necessary. The tapping for running is really poor.

Think I came across a bug. I was meant to follow a guy on the horse. He stopped moving and then he went back to his hut, and I had to go back to the hut to get him again.

The bit where you go across the bridge is when you see how beautiful the game looks. Very good.

Combat is quite basic. Enemies are cannon fodder so far but grand for a tutorial. I have to head out now but I am itching to play more

I tried that boss in the quarry there and ya he destroyed me I don't think i'm ready for him .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,956 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I'd like to thank the 3 revival pills and 8 hearty stews to help me beat it.

Because there's a 100% correlation between AI slop and a complete lack of artistic vision.

I own this game on PC but I might get it for Xbox in the future. I done the same with Starfield got it for PC but bought it day one for Xbox. In case anyone is wondering why: 'achievements'.

I got Starfield off AMD for buying a 9800X3D and then got this game off AMD for buying a 9850X3D.

I can't speak about fighting automatons but I did clean out a chimney.

Devs have addressed the AI. Said it was used in early discovery to investigate tone and atmosphere. It was not intended to stay in the game and will be swapped out for real artwork.

    A complete non issue.
