I hated that rule too….. it was always in your mind throughout the two legs. Home teams were less likely to take risks

The computer thinks Arsenal are in the easy side of the draw, because Bayern, Real and PSG are in the other side!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,220 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

Interestingly the bookies odds in the later post give a 56.7% chance of the winner coming from the 'PSG/BM/Pool/RM' side and 49.5% from the Arsenal side (the sum is greater than 100 because of bookies margin).

So clearly jacools computer is in disagreement with the bookies.

Is there not always tons of goals in that round? I recall loads of 7-2’s and 8-5’s etc between teams in the last 16 and then they tighten up for the 1/4’s and semis.

PSG are up to their "usual" tricks again, trying to have their top of the table clash with Lens postponed, as it falls between their two ties with Liverpool. Both clubs sharing the first letter "L" aren't impressed, but this was done for the last round as well, to allow the Parisiennes a clear run at Chelsea.

Real Madrid - out of their national cups, and 7 points behind Barcelona in La Liga, look like they have only one trophy left to play for, the one they think they own!

The face Bayern Munchen in a tie where the last 4 winners (out of 5 meetings) went on to win the trophy - and …….. all 4 were Real Madrid. The last 9 meetings between the clubs have gone RM W7-D2-L0

In fact, you have to go back to 17 Apr 2012, for the last time Bayern (with Toni Kroos) beat Real in a CL tie!

Toni Kroos was at his best for Bayern then, but within 2 years, and after having been only offered €6.5m a year when other players were on €10m at Bayern, told Pep he was leaving.

I only found out that Manchester United would have signed him except that they sacked Moyes, who was involved in the deal. From Kroos' agent, Volker Struth - "In April 2014, United sent a copy of a contract for Toni and David Moyes visited him personally. United's offer and contract were good, and Kroos had agreed to sign for Manchester United. I still have the copy of the contract, with just Toni's signature missing from it. On April 22, United sacked Moyes and we had to start looking for a new club. Finally, Kroos signed for Real Madrid in the summer of 2014."

Great start to the Real Madrid Bayern game. Both teams looking to attack, Bayern looking the better side, Madrid not far from getting Vini Jr and Mbappe away, hope the game keeps going like this.

Real Bayern very enjoyable so far. Bayern should have gone a goal up but have since needed two good saves from Neuer to keep Real out.

Virgin Media should be banned from broadcasting sport. Deplorable picture quality and worse commentators.

It is absolutely woeful. I am watching this at my parents as I'm home for a holiday and I feel like I'm in 2002 again. Ridiculous

That pass was sublime. Timed perfectly even if there was a Real defender playing him easily onside up the other side, I doubt that Gnabry knew where that defender was

Bayern deserved ahead, nicely taken by Diaz. Probably should be ahead already

Fine goal for Bayern, brilliant from Gnabry in the build up, he has been having a good game.

Have some colour vision problems myself but the ball seems to disappear in the stripes of the pitch on VM because the colour of the picture is so dull or something.

Aw, piss off with that card waving crap.

Vini Jr loves to go to ground at every opportunity possible. Really dislikable player, given his massive ego.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,755 ✭✭✭Schwiiing

Has to be his first kick all night. Haven't heard his name mentioned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,568 ✭✭✭The Rooster

Thought that was an automatic yellow card. Not sure if rule has changed or Oliver bottled it because it’s Vini

    Goal Kane!

Some start to 2nd half, 21 seconds

2 down straight after kick off

Maybe United were right after all to get rid of that left back!

Bayern in a great position but there's more goals in

    Dave McIntyre gets wayyy overexcited

Apart from him I think Virgin are ok for these games. I tend to listen to the commentary sound down anyway so not really listening, but MacIntyre shouts over anyway. Wrecks my head.

Dour Richard Dunne and his accent have the opposite problem.

Where is Neuer in GOAT goalkeeper conversation? Serious longevity.

It's between himself and Buffon. No one else comes close.

I agree. That last save from Mbappe was superb. Remarkable agility for his age and the fact that he's had injury problems this season.
