    HH extended until Euros.

How the hell are Abankwah, Egan and Dunne ahead of Omobamidele?! Garcia McNulty overlooked again too.

Midfield options are relatively decent. Not much in terms of attack.

I'm guessing that's about as strong as we could have hoped for, given injuries and suspensions. The lads on Reddit will be going mad over no McGoldrick, though.

    McGoldrick idea was laughable.

Glad the manager is staying. Trust him to pick players who are suited to international football even if they're not the obvious choice.

Imagine its Parrot upfront on his own to start so lack of striker options isnt a huge deal, then maybe bring on idah with 20 to go as an extra striker…we need to stay in the game to start with..if we can carry a threat from set pieces or something on the break then great

Anyone else nervous/concerned that Parrot's AZ are away to Sparta Prague tonight in the Conference League, with the tie finely balanced at 2-1 to AZ so no room for resting!… Not sure what the make up of the Czechia squad is but I'd assume a few are playing for Sparta?

Surely someone in that Sparta team is thinking: "fcuk it, I'll do this leprechaun" , especially if towards the end they are getting knocked out.. it's a free hit before a ball is even kicked next week.

Fcuk sake!! of all the fixtures to fall out of the bloody bag the week before the play off's!!

Only the left black plays for Sparta. Its Slavia Prague most are from.

No surprise really but nice to get it out of the way.

QPR fan here. He was with Chelsea from under-13s to last year when he joined QPR at 22. Never got a look in at Chelsea (not surprising considering how they handle players) and before QPR his only real run of game time was on loan at Bristol Rovers in League 1 in 2023/24. So, he's started less than 20 games in the Championship and until recently was quite inconsistent. He was excellent at Leicester at the weekend but they are just dreadful at the moment and it's going to be a hell of a jump to a WC play-off game.

No issue with Egan getting called up. Playing well by all accounts and hes a good experienced head to have around.

Yeah it's likely going to be be 5-4-1 again with Parrott as the lone CF. My guess is Azaz and Ogbene to support him from deeper roles. With Ogbene to use his pace for long balls and Azaz ball playing ability to try keep a hold of it when we win it in the final third.

The midfield two will be nteresting to see whose selected.

Dennis Cirkin was called up to the Latvian national team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tigger123

Knight and Taylor I think for the midfield two.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

I think Molumby might be one them. HH seemed to favor him in the final few games of qualifications or is he suspended for the Czech game.

Knight is an interesting one and I think he'd actually be a good option coming for one of the roles that would be supporting Parrott. His best game in an Irish shirt was that LW role in a 3-4-3 where he'd tuck in to add extra support to the midfield when needed.

Probably saved Kenny's job with his impact from the bench against Luxembourg. Himself, Robinson, and Ogbene worked well together as a trio.

Who'll be the 2 wing backs/full backs? Coleman and manning surely. Coleman for his experience and getting lads organised. Manning is in a team that's winning every weekend. Confidence must be sky high.

    Can't play Brady surely

Knight has been poor in general since 2022. He never recovered from staying with Derby when they got relegated to league 1. He should have went back to championship.

It looked like he make PL at one stage when he was young.

Bristol fans not gone on him

What happened to Robinson? Is he injured? Has a good record for us.

I'd say McGoldrick was next man up if Idah couldn't make it.

Heimer said they called him to have him ready just in case.

No real complaints about the squad. Only surprise for me is Abankwah is in ahead of Omobamidele and we look very light at right wing back (essentially only Coleman who has played 10 mins of football since November). I'd say Jamie McGrath is disappointed to be left out ahead of Vale. But overall it's probably close to as strong of a squad as we could've picked - hopefully no injuries before then and Parrott gets through tonight unscathed.

Why have they renewed HH now? Makes no sense

I dont know why they couldn't wait for another couple of weeks at least?

Seems fair enough tbh… the objective was getting out of the group. He achieved that objective.

Added to that, with our lack of quality and lack of funds we're not getting anyone better. Lucky enough to have him.

Nobody mentioning matt Doherty which is telling in itself.

Still he'd be a solid back up for Coleman

Parrot scores again tonight to put AZ 4-1 up in the tie v Sparta.

Whats the McGoldrick thing all about. Ws he not sht for Ireland the first time around ?

People seem to have quickly forgotten how hard it was to get a manager. It was at the point that O'Shea getting it full time looked like the least worst option.

    He's been subbed off.
